Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. McCall RV Resort - Northfolk Lodge

The Best RV Campsite in McCall, Idaho!!!

We reserved a spot here to prepare for a rafting trip we had won from the McCall WinterFest. We are so glad we did!!! This place ROCKS! We have a 27' Travel Trailer RV and we reserved a full hook-up site. The staff was friendly and we were escorted the staff to the site we reserved. The location is nice and quiet, awa from traffic. They have a nice lodge with an indoor heated swimming pool. Each site had a picnic table but no fire pit where we stayed. We had a portable grill to cook our meals. The property is very clean and the staff is ver friendly. Can't ask for anything more!

Peninsula Campground — Ponderosa State Park

If You Like A Fish Bowl

This campground boasts lovely showers and bathrooms. All well and good if you like to be in a fishbowl. There is no privacy between camp spaces. The rangers do not enforce the quiet hour rule and you get woken up in the middle of the night by screaming kids. Not my idea of a fun camping experience.

Boise National Forest Warm Lake Campground

A Pleasant Camping Area North of Boise, Idaho

This campsite is located east of Cascade Lake and Donnelly, Idaho. It's a scenic road to get there. The camsite we were in was dry camping with no hook-ups. The camping pad for our 27' Travel Trailer was nice and level. Each campsite had a picnic table and a firepit. There are some nice hiking trails in the vicinity. Mountain biking and horse riding is acceptable there as well. Since we had kayaks, we had a short drive to the boat ramp. There is excellent trout fishing. There is a small swim beach near the Warm Lake Lodge and Restaurant, near where the cabins are. All in all, a great stay, away from the city :-) It's a nice peaceful setting.

Clean, leveled, friendly, only 1/4 mile to their downtown. Friendly and helpful staff, showers, toilets, beach area for swimming WITH lounge chairs, swimming right in front, volleyball court, dog walking trails, fire pits, horse shoe play area, etc! Only wish I was able to do laundry but coming back again! Oh and the best part, great fishing under the bridge!

    Remote and beautiful

    Warm Lake Campground

Quite a drive to this beautiful lake but apparently it is well liked by locals because it was crowded!

The water is crystal clear and fishing is popular. There is a trail that goes completely around the lake but we turned back when a snake crossed our path.

There is a tent area, rental cabins and a camper area. I had no signal, bring a map.

The forest fires were further into the forest but the smoke haze was ever present.

    Worth the drive

Warm Lake Is BEAUTIFUL! Peaceful, dark and REMOTE.

Quite a drive to this beautiful lake but apparently it is well liked by locals because it was crowded! People fishing everywhere, people all around the lodge, trail and beach.

The water is crystal clear and fishing is popular. There is a trail that goes completely around the lake but we turned back when a snake crossed our path.

There are several options to include a group camping area, a shoreline primitive area, rental cabins and a Rec vehicle area. The lodge offers pretty much everything you could need, but considering how busy they are I would try to bring what I needed.

Guide to Lake Fork

Cabin camping near Lake Fork, Idaho offers multiple options in the Payette National Forest at 5,000-5,500 feet elevation. The surrounding area features extensive conifer forests and mountain lakes with seasonal temperature fluctuations typical of high mountain regions. Winter temperatures often drop below freezing with significant snowfall limiting access to some cabin sites from November through April.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Warm Lake Campground provides excellent trout fishing access with a boat ramp a short drive from campsites. "The water is crystal clear and fishing is popular. There is a trail that goes completely around the lake," notes visitor Shelly S.

Hiking trails: Multiple trail systems connect cabin locations to wilderness areas. "There are plenty of trees to tie a hammock to as well. Nothing beats the view of this campground," shares Simran D. about the lake views from trails near Warm Lake.

Winter recreation: Several cabin locations remain accessible during winter months. Ponderosa State Park offers winter cabin stays with nearby activities. "In the winter, the park offers great snowshoe trails, and groomed trails for cross-country skiing and skate skiing," explains Hannah C.

What campers like

Privacy levels: Campgrounds offer varying degrees of seclusion. "The sites are a little close but we never were bothered by it. If we had dogs it may have been a little more of a nuisance," mentions Tom K. about Peninsula Campground.

Natural features: Shoreline Campground offers lakeside sites with direct water access. "Nice spots, big, flat, clean and paved. Good privacy between sites. Beautiful lake with swimming area and lots of fishing," reports Kim H.

Off-season tranquility: Several reviewers note the benefits of visiting outside peak periods. "I like to go to PSP during the 'off-season' to avoid the crowds. Heading out in the winter, there are great snowshoeing and Nordic skiing options," advises Celine K.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Many cabin locations fill quickly, particularly during summer. "A prime spot to camp in McCall. Plan ahead and book early," advises Lisa O. about Peninsula Campground at Ponderosa State Park.

Amenities variance: Cabin facilities range from basic to full-service. McCall RV Resort offers higher-end cabins with unexpected features. "The indoor pool and spa and steam room made this my favorite park so far on our journey," shares a reviewer.

Seasonal operations: Not all facilities maintain year-round operations. "The camsite we were in was dry camping with no hook-ups. The camping pad for our 27' Travel Trailer was nice and level. Each campsite had a picnic table and a firepit," explains Ed E. about his stay at Warm Lake Campground, which operates May through mid-September.

Tips for camping with families

Swimming access: Waters Edge RV Resort provides family-friendly water activities. "Clean, leveled, friendly, only 1/4 mile to their downtown. Friendly and helpful staff, showers, toilets, beach area for swimming WITH lounge chairs," notes reviewer C.W.

Recreational amenities: Several cabin locations include family activity options. "Fun REC for kids, playground, and party fire pit area," mentions Isabel about Arrowhead RV Park.

Town proximity: Cabins near McCall provide convenient access to services. "Great location in McCall. Close to trails and the lake. Beautiful drives right from the camp ground," shares Jill W. about Peninsula Campground.

Tips from RVers

Site spacing: RV sites at cabin locations vary in size and proximity. "Sites have plenty of space between you and your neighbors. Fishing, swimming, the store is close if you need the basics. Room for your RV," notes Mike L. about Warm Lake Campground.

Hookup availability: Not all cabin locations provide full RV hookups. "The spots are a little close but we returned here after staying a few years ago. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Sites are pretty level. Campground within walking distance to town," reports Phillip C. about Waters Edge RV Resort.

Winter considerations: For cabin camping with RVs during colder months, preparation is essential. "What a beautiful place, and location to spend a week in October. With all the fall colors in full display, brisk evening air perfect for a fall fire to warm yourself. Though it was chili at night, and our pipes froze the last night," warns a reviewer about Waters Edge RV Resort.
