Granite Creek courses north into the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River, between Russian Butte to the east and Mailbox Peak to the west. The stream surges swiftly through the gorge between those mountains, and the roar of whitewater rapids dominates the valley.

This is an all paved rv campground on the Snake River and bordering Lewiston, ID. It has all the amenities of the Premier RV Resort affiliation. It has all the hook-ups and all sites are well manicured. A lot of the sites have longer term rv's from seasonal workers and such, it is not like a long term trailer park though. The management works to make sure your needs are taken care of. There is a paved walking trail alongside the park that follows the river with pet statiions located at intervals and is maitained by the municipality. There are Snake river boat tours nearby and plenty of shopping close and throughout the community. Fishing is a big activity on the rivers.
Great camping spot. No RV hookups, but fresh water, restrooms, and showers. Next to river but lots of shrubs. Can walk down trail to access river bank.
Very nice state park on the snake river. Lots of shade, full hook ups.
Campground right on the river and surrounded by businesses but no noise issues.
Pull through site was paved and level. You do need a water pressure regulator. Office does suggest the route to take for easier pull in. Some of the long term campers have multiple cars and large add-ons, so was tricky getting out.
Showers were nice and plenty of room. Sign on indoor pool stated it was closed.
Check in was easy, they do offer food items for sale but the beverage coolers were pretty sparse.
We paid $30 for 1 night, full hook-ups, pool, some shade, bathroom/shower, and walking distance to the casino.
PROS:
*The campground is very shady which is great when it's 102 degrees (record breaking year).
*The sites are pretty level and easy in and out.
*They irrigate so there is lush grass everywhere.
*Lots of biking in park and nearby along the riverfront.
*Very nice Lewis and Clark Discovery Center
*Aspen and Birch Loops DO have RV hookups. Cottonwood Loop does not.
*Access to the Snake River, with marina close by
*Disc golf course
*Close to town
CONS: *NO early checkin. 2:00 is it. They say they need the time to water and clean. They were nice about it. *Bathhouses are DESPERATELY in need of updating and the one in Cottonwood Loop mens room smelled of urine. *Can't really see the river from the campground
It was very smoky when we were there due to fires across the river in Oregon, so we cut our visit short. We will return when air quality returns though.
This is an all season RV Park. There’s a nice patch of grass in the center during warm months.
Sometimes we have a hard time finding all season parks.
They do allow pets! They have all the amenities you hope a RV Park has. We came up here to gem hunt. But I know other forms of hunting are also popular here 😉.
You also don’t loose the camping feels here. How? Fire rings.
Camping is just not the same without the ability to have a fire. Even when camping in an RV for local attractions over the “camping experience” it’s always a HUGE plus (to me anyways) to be able to watch flames for a few hours while having a few drinks.
Also visit the Pie Safe! You won’t regret it.
The turnoff for this campground is not far after you cross the beautiful Dent Bridge over the Dworshak Reservoir, headed North. And, your route would very likely be from south to north because the southerly route begins in Elk City, Idaho and is 85% gravel and at times pretty broken up.
After turning off the main road you take a winding road down toward the reservoir. The campground is situated on a gradual slope, so all sites have nice visibility toward the reservoir. All campsites are pull through, and have RV hookups. I was on a motorcycle so didn’t really need them but the potable water was nice to have to re-fill my hydration pack and clean up dinner dishes.
There are small shelters with tables at each site, and fire rings. I found the posted sign on each shelter—“Please Do Not Hang Wildlife of any Type From the Shelter”—kind of funny. They must get big game hunters in the Fall.
There were pay showers, which were great, and everything was very clean. There is a play area with jungle gym equipment for kids.
The boat dock and water’s edge is a short walk away, and there are also restrooms at the boat dock. The reservoir feeds the Clearwater river and it’s salmon runs, and like a lot of similar reservoirs it gets very low in summer because of drawdowns to support the downstream fish population. When I was there in late August the water was probably 100 feet below the normal boat dock, so it’s a bit of a walk down the exposed shore.
Despite being out of the way, this campground was completely full, And probably half of the campers had a motorized boat of some kind. Although full, I got lucky because someone didn’t show up for the first night of their reservation so the camp hosts let me stay for free. As I walked around the campground it looked like every site was booked for the entire coming week. I expect it is that way all summer.
For adventure motorcyclists exploring back roads this is a great stop over, and not far from the #BDR route.
This RV park is right in town near all the local amenities. Lots to do here, hiking, boating, swimming. There are nice shade trees and nice space between campsites.
I stayed here for one night and there was not much shade.
Like many RV parks there is a park, and tables outside.
There are train tracks very very close, but it was not disruptive surprisingly for the time we were there.
Great camping has dispersed camping areas for tents and another side for rvs with hookups a 60 acre reservoir with boat ramp great fishing. There is also a house you can rent for large groups. reservations can be made at the weippe discovery center
We pulled our 40ft RV up here and had a great time! Not full hookups but lots of fishing we caught: blue gill, trout, bass, crappie, perch, cat fish and had a small Tiger Muskie on the line but lost it. We were there for two weeks and they did have electricity and water hookups just no dump so we showered and used the bathroom facilities which were very well kept! So we didn’t mind. There is a dump station just in town at the gas station there. Overall great experience and nice to be off the grid for a bit!
Very friendly staff that keeps the facilities clean. Full hookups with lots of pull through spaces if needed. We fully utilized the bike path along the river each day for nice long rides into Idaho and back to Washington. Would stay again.
I’ve been in search of local winter camping spots. I’ve never paid so much for a tent site in my entire life. It’s important to note that even though it says it’s an RV Park there are tent spots offered here.
I think the price is high just because it’s in touristy location.
There were enough trees to set up our hammocks!
The biggest thing I disliked about this site is that the 30 dollars they charges us was not enough. They will charge an additional 3 dollars per head and 5 dollars for an additional car.
If you go in a group like we did, that really adds up. 🥵
There was a playground on site but other than that it’s nothing special.
The park manager was very social. I don’t mind but if you want privacy you may want to stay at a different location. My partner likes the privacy camping brings. We will never return, but if you have safety concerns with children, I can see this as being a bonus.
Excellent campground with full hookups at a good price, $18/day $4/day for extra car. Half price for Golden Age passport,Access Passport, Interagency Senior pass etc.
Very clean and well maintained. $35 for full hookups (2023). Lawn between sites is mowed and kept looking green. Some sites have large trees for shade, each site has a nice picnic table.
Great area. About 20 miles from US-12. Showers and other amenities available on site for a fee. Full bathrooms. Covered picnic tables which is nice and full hookup sites. No phone service. Dirt access road
This was the prettiest campground we stayed in during an extensive road trip through Idaho. It was only half occupied during the end of June, so we enjoyed privacy and numerous bird songs. Care and creativity were used when building the sites; ours had tent sites on 2 levels, and another had little stairs carved into the dirt. Our site was very large and had very stately evergreen trees and a trail heading out. Sites for RVs seemed nice, too. There were clean vault toilets and a pump for potable water...all for $6. There's a nearby site (4 miles away) where garnets can be sluiced For at a Forest Service site. We didn't go there but maybe next time, as we are eager to return!
Chief Timothy is a great campground not far from clarkston that provides all he ammenties any camper would want. They have rv and tent sites available. Great atmosphere very well kept grounds makes this a great place to take your family! Pull thru sites for rvs makes it easy to come and go as you please. They have a designated swimming area and a boat launch if you have a boat. My family always loves camping here.
This spot is killer! A tad pricey but it’s really oriented towards RV camping so it’s not that surprising.
Stayed a full 10 days. Had full hookups and the quality of all the facilities are great, modern and functional.
Pretty steep grades in and out of the area, but just take it easy on downhill and use your gears.
Great boat launch and fishing in the lake.
This campground was developed in the 1980’s and has wonderful facilities including showers, store, laundry, many full hookup sites and plenty of space between pull through sites.
Chief Timothy Park sits on a 282-acre island on Lower Granite Lake in the Snake River. The Park is known as the gateway to Hells Canyon Recreation Area, the deepest river gorge in North America and an area of striking scenery, abundant cultural history and outdoor adventure.
We stayed in the second loop which doesn’t have hookups but the sites were beautiful.
Country Lane River Resort is located on the CDA River near Kingston, Idaho. The resort has its own down-home charm and is convenient for floating the river. It has a restaurant and bar, river float shuttle, full hookup RV sites, and tent sites. The staff are helpful and friendly too.
Unfortunately, it's a crowded, inebriated mess on the weekends. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a drunken, dehydrated float down the river like anybody else, but I also like to retreat to the privacy of a quiet campsite to sleep off the day's indulgences. The problem with the Country Lane Resort is that there's precious little privacy and the noise rarely drops below the level of a Toby Keith concert.
It's also highly likely you'll see some drunken fool flying a confederate flag on his UTV. This actually happened the weekend I was there. I know it's Idaho but come on people.
The Country Lane Resort is a mashup of the Double Duece roadhouse, a Hank Williams, Jr. concert, and a MAGA rally. Certainly this will appeal to some campers, but it's probably not for most.
Despite the great staff, the Country Lane Resort is just too damned loud and drunk to be any fun for someone looking to relax in the peace and quiet of the great outdoors.
We have stayed at Chief Thimothy quite a few times. It doesn’t seem as well kept as other parks we like! The grass is blotchy, so if there’s rain, there’s mud...no rain, lots of dust and dirt! Easy access to the river with little docks along the shore. Swimming area available, too! Bathrooms, laundry, and full hookups all available. Dog friendly!
The tent sites are very close together and are right near to a road.
The RV sites are decent with a bbq and a bench. There are spots to have a bonfire, but it won’t be on your site if you have a RV.
There’s a cute bridge that separates the RV camping from the tent camping with various day use areas. There is a park that’s across the field from the RV cites with a playground and bonfire spot.
This area has great views an the local fish hatchery is just around the corner.
The cites are primitive but they do have toilets and places for RVs.
Take a moment to check out the lake by big Eddie as it have pristine blue waters and a lot of recreational sites for bbqs and just getting some R&R. 😌
Ok so if this is Last Resort this place was cool. First of, IT'S NO LONGER A KIA. Second, if maps send you down Hartsock Rd ( a right turn just outside of downtown Dayton) I don't recommend taking it. You will come to a steep canyon called Hartsock Rd. While the road is OK, not very wide, the grade is pretty steep. My brakes were cooking. Stay on highway 12. The campground itself was cool. Not alot of shade but just up road from the lakes to fish. Good hiking and walking beyond the lakes. We went two months ago and at Tucannon campground (south of campground) the road was closed due to washouts. I enjoyed my time. Showers, full hookups, good people.
