Small and unkempt

Drove up a rough dirt road to get there. There was a couple of sites with tables. Located in a cow pasture. There were lots of cows in campground and the area was well fertilized with fresh cow excrement. 🐄

Frequently Asked Questions

What amenities are available at Cherry Creek Campground?

Cherry Creek Campground offers very basic amenities. There are a few campsites equipped with picnic tables, but facilities are extremely limited. The campground does not provide potable water, flush toilets, or electrical hookups. This is a primitive camping experience with minimal infrastructure. Campers should plan to bring all necessary supplies including water, food, and waste disposal bags. The rustic nature of this campground makes it suitable for those seeking a no-frills outdoor experience.

Where is Cherry Creek Campground located in Idaho?

Cherry Creek Campground is located in a rural area of Idaho, accessible via a dirt road. The campground sits in a pastoral setting surrounded by open rangeland. To reach the campground, visitors need to navigate a rough dirt road that may present challenges for some vehicles, especially after wet weather. The area is characterized by its countryside setting and agricultural surroundings. For specific directions, contact the managing agency as the campground is somewhat remote.

What outdoor activities can you do near Cherry Creek Campground?

Outdoor activities near Cherry Creek Campground are primarily focused on experiencing the rural Idaho countryside. The pastoral setting may appeal to those interested in nature observation, stargazing, or photography of rural landscapes. Hiking opportunities exist in the surrounding area, though trails may not be formally maintained. Wildlife watching might include local bird species and larger mammals typical of Idaho rangeland. The remote setting provides a chance to disconnect and enjoy the quiet of rural Idaho, though visitors should note that the campground's location in an active grazing area means sharing the space with cattle.

When is the best time to visit Cherry Creek Campground in Idaho?

The best time to visit Cherry Creek Campground is likely during the drier months of late spring through early fall when the access road is most passable. Summer offers more reliable weather conditions, though the exposed nature of the campground means it can get quite hot. Given the primitive conditions and potential for muddy access during wet periods, avoiding rainy seasons is advisable. Be aware that local cattle grazing occurs in this area, which may affect your camping experience throughout the season.
