Dockery Lake Campground

This US Forest Service campground operates from mid-March through mid-November with reservations available for its lakeside sites. Accessible via forest roads, Dockery Lake Campground sits within the Chattahoochee National Forest and provides drinking water, restrooms, picnic tables, and trash service during the operating season.

The campground centers around a small fishing lake stocked with trout, drawing anglers to cast from the shoreline. Sites are positioned close to the water, though Taylor notes they are "nestled against a large fishable lake" with well-maintained hiking trails threading through the area. The lake itself receives mixed descriptions from visitors - some call it muddy while others appreciate its fishing potential.

Campers report a notably quiet atmosphere with minimal cell service, creating a remote feel despite road accessibility. Sites sit relatively close together, and hiking trails pass directly through the camping area, connecting to the lake's perimeter trail. The campground tends to attract long-term visitors seeking solitude.

Seasonal considerations matter here, as water and restroom facilities may not be available outside the official operating dates. For additional camping options in the region, visitors can explore camping destinations outside Suches or check nearby Woody Gap Campground - Appalachian Trail for alternative forest camping experiences.

Tucked away

Ok campsites nestled against a large beautiful fishable lake. Hiking trails well taken care of. However, stated there was water when there was not(both water sources produced no water for me) and the bathrooms are seasonal (I did not have access to them)

Pretty Campground

Nice campground on a beautiful lake. No cell service of any kind. Sites are decently spread out. Very remote.

A little small

The campsites are a little close together and the lake is more like a muddy pond. Great location though and easy to get to. The trail for hikers goes right thru the campground.

Relaxing

If you are looking for a relaxing campground with a lake and hiking, this is your campground. There are all kids of hiking trails and a small lake for fishing only. All in all it was a very relaxing campground. Nice and quiet to relax.

Very private

This small lake has a nice trail around it but the camping vibe had a big loner component to it. As a single female alone I chose not camp here as it just seemed a little too quiet and secluded. There were campers but they seemed more like hermits. This may. It be the same depending on who is camping there.
