Best RV Parks & Resorts near Maybell, CO

Maybell Park provides 20 RV sites with electric hookups for $38.50 per night, offering a convenient stopover for travelers on Highway 40. River Camp RV Park in Meeker features 24 spacious sites with full hookups including 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections, though some sewer hookups require extensions due to varied distances. The park also offers a large open field for dry camping with the sound of the Yampa River nearby. Trail and Hitch RV Park accommodates big rigs with full hookup sites, while Yampa River Headquarters Campground provides electric sites with 30/50-amp service. "Quiet place with the sound of a babbling river running along the edge of the camp. They have a few pull throughs, several large back in and a few smaller back in sites."

Across the region, RV parks operate primarily from May through November, with Maybell Park extending service until mid-November. Dump stations are available at most locations for $5 per use, though cell service varies significantly—River Camp RV Park reports poor WiFi and no Verizon coverage but decent T-Mobile reception. Between Craig and Rangely, RV travelers should plan for limited services, as one reviewer noted, "No Verizon signal but library is near by and you can pick up WiFi there in a pinch. Only one store/gas station in town and no restaurant." Most parks accommodate pets without additional fees, and several offer shower facilities, though quality varies. For travelers heading west from Steamboat Springs, Maybell serves as the last reliable location for water and dump services before entering more remote areas.

    River Camp RV Park

    No fuss, big sites

Quiet place with the sound of a babbling river running along the edge of the camp. They have a few pull throughs, several large back in and a few smaller back in sites. They also offer a large open field for dry camping. No showers, but, a few porta potties around the camp. Fire rings and picnic tables at each site. The water spigots are housed in small insulated enclosures. The sewer connections are varied distances, extensions are probably needed. Our sewer connection has a small uphill to it, but still slightly below our tank bottoms. Good space between sites, some are quite remote from others. On location camp host was swift. The WiFI was poor even with the camp half empty. I walked around and did some speed tests around the camp, best speed was 500kb. No Verizon service, decent TMobile service.

    Maybell Park

Good place to park, more expensive than advertised.

This is a pet friendly campground around a square park right on 40. They have electric and non electric sites, but the majority were electric (and cost more). This was advertised $15 - $20 but the prices online were $38.50 for an electric site for one night (granted, it was a Saturday in August). There were not pet fees. There were lots of spaces available when we visited.

There is no office here, you pay for your rental online or on an iPad in the kiosk (if working). There is WiFi at the kiosk, but it does not reach many of the campsites well.

Sites are close together but level. Felt safe and it was quiet at night save for occasional passing cars. No fire pits or individual picnic tables, but there is a shared covered picnic area.

Clean bathrooms. Showers were more of a 2.5/5. Not super clean and water smelled rusty. Water from sink was fine though.

Morning became very busy with travelers stopping to use the public restrooms, which may help you decide where to park.

    Rangely Camper Park

    Small town's campground, very nice

About 2 dozen good sized variable depth sites, well shaded with picnic table and fire pit. Some with electric. Dump station, water fill, and bathroom showers. Well kept

Yampa River Headquarters Campground — Yampa River State Park

No privacy but showers and laundry

Good spot to stop and shower/do laundry in between primitive camping. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit, the table has cover. Good cell phone coverage. Playground. Showers, laundry. Reservations (at least one day ahead) required.

Pros: — clean facilities: flush toilets, showers (coin operated), washing and drying machines — easy access — right by Yampa River — sites are spacious

Cons: — very few trees — no privacy at all

    Rangely Camper Park

    Rangely, Co Camper Park

This city operated RV/ Camping Park in Rangely, Colorado is an excellent city managed spot to spend the night or several days. The park offers electric sites for $20.00 a night or $10.00 a night for no electricity. Water spigots are located all around the park and there is a dump station on site. Numerous giant Cottonwood trees provide a lot of shade for the park. Located just outside of Rangely, everything you need is just minutes away.

City Parks and Rec staff frequent the property and are friendly and willing to help anyone in need.

There is restroom facilities and showers on site.

Dinosaur National Monument is only 30 minutes away and east of town is Kenney Reservoir is just minutes east of town and offers fishing, swimming and boating.

Make sure to visit the “Tower” on the west side of town. It is a converted, 3 story, water tank that is now a recording/ sound studio.
The acoustics of the tower is definitely something you should experience!

We stayed here four nights with our 32 foot fifth wheel and there is several spots to fit that and our truck. Lots of space for tent camping on grass.

    Highly recommend Rangely Camp Park!

    Maybell Park

Good for a last resort stop but that's it.

This is a great small town overnight stop. It is on the side of the road in the last town before you hit no mans land heading west. There is power for RV’s and picnic tables. There is also a water refill and a park for kids to play. It is the last place to stop for water or dumping after steamboat springs.

There are 20 spots open for tent or rv camping. The park is maintained but not manned on site, and payment was an envelope (honor) system based on what you used- electric, dump, shower, etc.$20 a night with electricity and$15 without.$3 for showers.$5 dump station use. Open 24/7 year-round. No reservations needed. Sites are first-come, first-served.

    Freeman Reservoir Campground

Great family Campground, even better for Fisherfolk

We just returned from a quick overnight at Freeman Res Campground and enjoyed it more than any other camping this Summer. The campsites are well separated, and screened by trees for good privacy. Despite a mostly full campground after dark it was very quiet, no generators, no barking dogs, and no big parties. There is a mixture of pull through, back in, and some tent sites for all camping types. Multiple trailheads start at the campground or close by it. The reservoir is for non-motorized watercraft only, not all campsites can see the reservoir but one loop of sites can. We will go back and hope to enjoy multiple seasons from this campground.

    Rangely Camper Park

    Quiet, shady, easy access.

Stayed here for 2days in a 35’ rv with my husband and 2 dogs. 30 and 50 amp service. I did not use showers or bathrooms. A lot of the spots where to small for our rig we stayed in 19 and there was plenty of room. The river is 100 yards away and there are ponds between. Large cottonwoods trees provide lots of shade. There was only 2 other campers here while we stayed. $20 a night for no electric $30 for electric. Dump station and water on site

    Maybell Park

    I’ll be back

Nice Town park with 53 sites according to the website. We came through on our way to Brown’s park and Flaming gorge . We used the dump station, $5 and took our dogs on a walk. The park was quite and only had 5 campers in it at the time. We are planning to come back and stay to explore this area of the state. There is gas and a convenient store on the next block. Below is a quote from the website.

During summer months, visitors come here to play on the Yampa and Green Rivers. They also enjoy Maybell as a gateway to Sandwash Basin, Irish Canyon, Browns Park, and Dinosaur National Monument. During the hunting season, our normal population of 75 nearly triples, when Maybell becomes home away from home to hunters. Spots are now reservable on camplife.com.
