South Bay Campground — Horsetooth Reservoir

For what you’re paying for it could be better. Vault bathrooms are not clean and smell awful. Look I know they smell and are dirty but people do your part to close the lid and clean up afterwards. Showers are good but you have to pay $2 per shower Dump is $15 too! Good cycling around here Cell service is ok. Sometimes drops. Verizon and att People working here are very friendly and helpful. Leave it better than you found it.

Clean and well maintained campground. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our site was well spaced from our neighbors, but other areas were fairly dense. Electric hookup worked, but no water at the site, and "public water" in the area was a broken water fountain. We filled up at the dump station. Shower house was close, only open 6am to 10pm, pay showers minimum $2. Excessive road noise during the day, it did quiet down each night. If we stay here again we will stay nearer to the entrance or get a cabin.

Loved getting to go swimming and it was a fun spot. Next to a road so it could get a little noisy sometimes

We stayed two nights and loved it! Electric hookups (we used 50amp at our site) but no water hook up. Drinkable water close by at various locations within the campground. Some road noise but not bad at all. The lake was great for paddle boarding, canoeing, and kayaking.

Nice site. Reasonably clean and flat. Electrical hookup didn't work, but I was tent camping so I didn't mind. Water was great and easily accessible.

We really enjoyed this place. Some campsites are close together and some are spacious. The Resevior is beautiful and our kids enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaking. Camp hosts were friendly. The sites are picked up but not manicured by any means and there is road noise due to the proximity of the roads around the region.

Overall, we thought this was a fun place and will be back due to how close it is to home. A quick hour drive for us. We would recommend getting a location on the waterfront if possible. Easier access to water sports this way.

This is a great campground if you want to be close to be close to Fort Collins, and/or enjoy the lake. Horsetooth Reservoir is a very long lake great for boating, and with some gorgeous inlets to explore. The campground itself is clean and well laid out. The only downside is the road is fairly close and creates a bit of noise, even late at night as there is some local traffic to access the neighborhoods behind the reservoir.

We had a great experience at Horsetooth. We had a great spot right on the water and our kids were able to play in the water right from the campsite. Noise level was a little high but not bad...we enjoyed the time spent there and will definitely go back.

So, we unfortunately got off on the wrong foot with this campground. It was likely our error, but we did not see anywhere in the booking process that there would be additional fees once we arrive at the campground. This is the only campground we have had this experience with too. This made the nightly rate a lot higher than what it was worth. Yes, the lake is nice, but you are right by a busy road and there is road noise all day and night long. Also, you aren’t on the main part of the lake– more like a little inlet off the main part. The facilities were fine and our site did have a good view of the sliver of the lake. However, if we find ourselves in the area again we will find somewhere else to stay. They did have some sites that you can tie a boat up to. If we had a boat I can see where this would be super fun having it tied up right at your RV site, but without a boat I would check around.

This is a great location to bring your boat for wakesurfing, kayak or SUP. I recommend the South Bay. The campground is nice and the natives are chill.

This camp ground has the best view!. We have camped in Colorado for over 15 years. By far the campsites with the best views! And you can rent cabins too. Just love this place. Lake gets busy In the summer. But still worth if you can get a reservation.

We visited in the fall. It was a quiet, nicely spaced campground. We had a spot right by the water. The water was really low, so we didn’t actually have water right in front of us. They offer all the amenities, electric, dump station, showers. Bring quarters for the shower! We stayed 2 nights. We drove into Estes Park, which wasn’t that far. The kids tried their luck at fishing, but didnt catch anything.

Beautiful campsites next to water with onsite water access. Wonderful campfire pits/grills and picnic tables. Quiet hours were no inforced which can be good or bad.

Lots of fun with my whole family!

Good camp, close to town so an excellent getaway. Make a reservation, it fills up quick. Has waterfront spots available and even if you can't get waterfront almost all spotshave atleast a view! Occasional deer will Roam In the camp. Bathhouses and full hookups available. Dogs allowed on a leash and you're within minutes of a boat ramp, hikes, and awesome views!

Had a great time camping over the 4th of July. We had an amzing view of the water, the bathrooms were great and if you had a boat you can literally pull it right u to shore to anchor for the day or overnight. Great place and cant wait to go back!
