My folks bought property you can ride to Indian Creek from. Love this area!!! Lots of beautiful trails, close to Denver and very peaceful. Bring your ponies, its an equestrian campground!
Chatfield is great for a weekend evening hike. We park at the Waterton lot and hike in to avoid fees. Our dog loves to splash splash splash!
Maroon Lake is a bucket list experience but if you can, dispersed camp at the end of Castle Creek Rd instead. Equally pretty, less crazy!
We love to backcountry camp in GGC. Forgotten Valley has some really nice spots by the river and it's a very short hike.
Dude's Fishing Hole is my dog's favorite place in the world. We love GGC especially the Forgotten Valley hike. Feed the fish at the ranger station 🐟
Castle Creek is epic in the fall. Drive to the end of the road to experience the best of views. Dispersed camping also avaliable for 4x4
While this is like many National Park campgrounds - crowded and not very wild - the grand canyon is spectacular and this was an awesome place for us to stop on a road trip.
Nice, but expensive. Not normally too crowded. Love Rockaway!!!
My finances childhood was not exactly real camping. He says the KOA was crowded. Rocky Mountain National Park is always gorgeous tho. Photos from this winter.
Very clean and has good amenities, cheaper and less crowded than st Mary's but still isn't exactly roughing it. As always, Rocky Mountain National Park is epic. Pictures from winter adventures.
Good access to Zion and its shuttle. Stayed here for a night and definitely did not have any privacy. Would not go back to this particular campground.
Fond memories from childhood, lots of amenities but lacks wildness. Rocky Mountain National Park is amazing though. Pictures are from a snowy day last winter.
Not sure this was the exact Campground we ended up in but HWY 96 has loads of free camping along the river. Not terribly clean and extremely hot in August but it's there at least…
This place shouldn't be called a Campground. Fun day use spot if you want to access the reservoir or have some smores with friends, but it's pretty sad.
Fisher Towers is one of my all time favorite hikes so this Campground is worth its weight in gold just for that! It's a bit exposed but if you are eager to get an early start on the hike this is it!
Camp here to hike one of Colorado's most climbed 14ers, Mt. BIERSTADT. This pass can get CROWDED so plan to leave Denver early on a Friday.
Gorgeous falls, caves, a nice little river. Fun for kids, can get crowded.
EPIC hiking to waterfalls and alpine lakes. Highly suggest the area for day hikes, nice Campground for longer visits
This area has gotten very crowded in years past but is nice if you are new to camping.
Love Vedawoo! Easy drive from Denver and a climbers paradise. For fewer crowds drive past the Campground and dispersed camp on national forest land. Check out Beehive Buttress one exit farther if you are a sport climber!
