Within Tahoe National Forest, Poppy Hike-in Boat-in Campground provides access to French Meadows Reservoir through non-motorized entry only. The US Forest Service manages this established site, which requires either hiking or boating to reach campsites. The forested terrain includes both wooded and open areas near the lake's edge.
French Meadows sits less than a mile southeast, offering drive-in access for comparison. The hike-in or boat-in requirement limits crowds but demands advance planning for gear transport. For additional options, see campgrounds just outside Tahoe National Forest.
Description
