Best RV Parks & Resorts near Little River, CA

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV parks accommodate visitors near Little River on the Mendocino coast. Harbor RV Park in Fort Bragg offers full hookup sites with ocean views, providing electric, water and sewer connections along with cable TV. "From the outside, it looks just like a run down trailer park, but RV sites are decent," notes one camper, highlighting the contrast between appearance and functionality. Westport Beach RV Park and Campground, located north of Fort Bragg, provides big-rig friendly sites with water, electric and sewer hookups plus amenities like firewood and picnic tables. Caspar Beach RV Park has tighter spacing for motorhomes, with limited maneuvering room between sites, though its oceanfront location compensates for the cramped conditions.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended during summer months and holidays when coastal parks fill quickly. Most RV facilities in the area remain open year-round, though winter brings increased rain and wind. Harbor RV Park requires cash or check payment only—credit cards are not accepted at all locations. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region, with stronger signals in Fort Bragg and diminished coverage in more remote coastal areas. Some parks enforce strict pet policies; Harbor RV's manager is particularly particular about check-in procedures and campground rules. RV sites at Pomo RV Park (#35) are reported to be naturally level, potentially eliminating the need for leveling jacks, and the park features cable and electric hookups despite lacking sewer connections at some sites.

Dolphin Isle Marina & RV Park

    Quiet, seals, deer and wildlife

We love this place. We've been here for 2 months now off and on. The site we are on is located between a marina and the Noyo River. It allows for easy access for paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming and seals, sea lions and other wildlife. Last night a 6 point deer walked past our site. The rates are pretty reasonable and the people that run the campgrounds are great to work with. There is a kayak/sup rental as well next door. If you're lucky the maintenance guy will sing or whistle while doing his work, and makes for a good show! It does close down except for long-term use in the winter time (November-??) due to coastal seasonal flooding. Internet can be occasionally spotty but we use AT&T and Verizon which work well. Cable is provided. Full hook ups. Due to Covid enquire about the bathroom situation when calling to book. Walking distance from the harbor and a quick bike ride to the bluffs overlooking the ocean.

Caspar Beach RV Park & Campground

    Steps from the beach

Its a super cramped campground for big rigs. Much nicer and more privacy if tenting. The best spot is “ocean view” but its time to change the name. That site is for tenting but can accommodate a small rv or van. The vegetation is so tall there is no actual ocean view. Restrooms are clean. Showers coin operated. Awesome location. Friendly folks. Good camp store.

    Middle Creek Campground

    Great place for dry camping

Beautiful location, campground was easily accessible going up Elk Mountain Road. Camped in Site 11, pull through, no hook ups, nice picnic table, grill and fire pit. Vault toilets, no showers. There is potable water close to the campsites. Very quiet during the week, it did get noisier on the weekends, but everyone settled down for the evening.

Westport Beach RV Park and Campground

    All the ammenities!

We spent 4 nights here with our travel trailer. We had a site with full hook ups, including sewage (no need for dumping station!!). This is a great campground that is right on the beach! It has showers, flushing toilets, a little store, fire wood for sale, dish washing station, and even WiFi! The campground was very clean and really perfect for families! Couldn’t recommend more!

    Mendocino Redwoods RV Resort

Great for families with little ones

We stopped here overnight on our way up the coast. Well maintained, nice facility and friendly staff. Definitely wouldn’t come back for long term camping as we have older teenagers. The facility is definitely geared toward families with smaller kids. It was great for what we needed.

    Gualala Point Regional Park

    Small but beautiful county campground

General: 19 general and six walk-in campsites among giant redwood and Bay Laurel trees on the Gualala River. Sites 17 & 18 are a double site.

Site Quality: Level sites with bear box, picnic table, and fire ring. Site One’s camper pad fit our 18-foot camper van, but it would not accommodate anything much larger. Several other camper pads looked short as well. No hookups.

Bath/Shower house: Three individual units with toilet, sink, soap, and paper towels. One shower that takes quarters – three minutes for $2.00.

Activities: There is a trail that leads through the walk-in sites, under Highway One, and to the beach, approximately 1.5 miles. You can also drive to the day-use area for a shorter walk. We were there on a weekday but there were many activities scheduled for the upcoming weekend including kayaking on Bodega Bay, outside yoga, and healthy hustle circuit training – I was sad to miss all of these options.

This campground is beautiful and peaceful. But note that although we did not encounter any, several other campers experienced over-eager raccoons while eating dinner. There was also a sign warning of mountain lions but we did not encounter any. Shout-out to the ranger who shared a lot of good information about the area.

Hidden Pines RV Park & Campground

    Quiet, no frills but safe

The owner is very accommodating but doesn’t give refunds. That didn’t affect me but I’ve heard lots of people complain. The sites are close together but full hookups (except sewer) and a picnic table and fire ring at each one. Dump station is free to campers and was easy to use. Check after noon for the most updated info. Mike the owners was very helpful and so was his staff. I’ve heard there’s a pool but I didn’t use it. A bit pricey but so is everyone else in the area. I felt safe there, and would stay again.

    Hendy Woods State Park Campground

    Family Freindly Redwood Camping

Spacious sites with fire pit, wooden food box and picnic table. Potable water available at spigots along the roads every 3-4 campgrounds. The campground has restrooms with sinks (bring your own soap), flush toilets, coin operated showers. Campground ha easy access to hiking, swimming in the river, and wine tasting just up the road. There a local produce stands just up the road where you can expect to buy tasty Gravenstien apples if you visit in August! Mosquitoes are present so bring bug spray! If you forget anything, there is a Mom and Pop store up the road that sells almost everything you need including batteries, tableclothes, butane, ice and firewood for about $6 a bundle. The campground host sells firewood for $8 a bundle. Campsites are for 8 people maximum. Even with 8 people, we didn't feel cramped. Sites come with 2 parking passes. If you have more than two cars in your party, you can pay for additional parking passes. Dog friendly! I was the only person in my group to have cell service here and I have Verizon.

    Harbor RV Park

    Campsite on bluffs

Located next to Pomo Bluffs Park and over looking the ocean and the Noyo River/Bay. Stayed 6 days in November paid $250. Full hook ups with cable. Wifi very spotty but we use ATT and Verizon cell services which worked fine. Carole the manager, was very particular at how things needed to be done. Got off on the wrong foot initially when we arrived. Don't make that mistake. Actually stop and check to see if the office is open. Even if the "OPEN" light is off, when arriving. Before going to your site. Due to Covid there were many restrictions. The paper we received upon check in was extensive and had rules such as no bike riding on property, garbage to be disposed of during specific times, no large gatherings and mask wearing when out of your RV. Took us a few days to get the hang of it. Good location near City bike path and walking distance to several stores and restaurants. Sites are thoroughly cleaned and disenfected upon check out by the property manager.

Guide to Little River

RV camping near Little River, California provides coastal access through several developed facilities along the Mendocino shoreline. Most campgrounds in the region sit within 6 miles of the coastline, allowing for ocean views and beach exploration. Winter temperatures average 45-55°F while summer brings coastal fog and temperatures between 60-70°F, creating moderate camping conditions year-round.

What to do

Explore tidepools: Just south of Caspar Beach RV Park & Campground, visitors can discover marine ecosystems. "It's a super cramped campground for big rigs. Much nicer and more privacy if tenting. The best spot is 'ocean view' but its time to change the name," notes Marcus K., who also mentions the convenient location for beach activities.

Visit nearby lighthouses: The coastline offers historic lighthouses worth visiting. "This is a tight and wet park. It is inside a gully that gets very little sun. I stayed the end of December through New Years. There is a beach in front. Shopping in Ft. Bragg is 15 minutes away," shares JMark H., highlighting the proximity to coastal attractions.

Utilize bike trails: The coastal area features accessible paths for cycling. At Pomo RV Park & Campground, "Access to the ocean is quick, and there are multiple bike & hiking trails nearby," according to Hannah S., who appreciates the combination of forest and coastal environments.

What campers like

Private camping spaces: Many campgrounds offer separated sites. "Each site has shrubbery around it. It feels like you are in a world by itself," notes Loren P. about Pomo Campground, describing the secluded feeling despite being near town.

Beach access: Direct pathways to shorelines rank high with visitors at Westport Beach RV Park and Campground. "We were lucky to get a site right next to the beach for our class B RV. This is a beautiful site along Highway 1," writes Stephen R., highlighting the oceanfront location.

Seasonal variations: Off-season camping provides different experiences. "I would go back but only in RV or camper so I had my own bathroom," mentions Cyndie D. about Caspar Beach, noting that facilities may have maintenance issues during certain times.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Many parks require advance booking, especially in popular seasons. "It was late and we were tired but when I walked in and heard good evening, I knew we found a nice spot," shares Rose E. about Mendocino Redwoods RV Resort, emphasizing the importance of proper check-in procedures.

Facility differences: Campgrounds vary significantly in amenities and upkeep. "Great location close to the beach, close to Mendocino and Fort Bragg. The problem is that the spaces are very narrow, especially if you have slide outs which means that your neighbor's sewer hose is next to your door," writes Theo A. about Caspar Beach.

Site spacing considerations: Space between campsites varies widely between campgrounds. "The sites are pretty secluded by shrubs so you do get a sense of privacy in places. The turns driving around might make RV camping a little tricky," notes Hayley K. about Woodside RV Park.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Look for campgrounds with appropriate facilities for children. "This is a great family campground. Bring your kids, plenty to do for them. No kids? Want to be at a quiet campground? Enjoy nature? Not here!" advises Theo A. about Mendocino Redwoods RV Resort.

Beach safety awareness: Monitor tide conditions when camping near shorelines. "The waves are loud, the cell service sucks and the Wi-Fi is very spotty…which makes it a perfect spot to get away! If you get a premium spot, you are almost right on the beach, which is pretty private since there's no public access," explains Rob F. about Westport Beach.

Weather preparation: Pack for fog and cooler temperatures, even in summer. "It's pricey, but the location can't be beat. The front half is narrow RV slots, but further back, it's lush, shaded and pretty quiet for tent or car camping," writes Jessi P. about Caspar Beach.

Tips from RVers

Site levelness: Check for naturally level sites to minimize setup time. "Nice park behind mobile home park. Tight sites but beautiful views. Very nice and helpful staff, dog friendly park," mentions Kelly N. about Harbor RV Park, noting the tight arrangement but favorable ocean views.

Hookup availability: Confirm which utilities are available at specific sites. "We spent 4 nights here with our travel trailer. We had a site with full hook ups, including sewage (no need for dumping station!!). This is a great campground that is right on the beach!" explains Jessicca about Westport Beach.

RV size limitations: Consider vehicle dimensions when booking. "We got in a little late the owner was waiting for us. This was our first time ever in an RV. The owner help us backed up. Showed us how to hook everything and he even started a fire for us," shares Jimmy S. from Wildwood RV Park & Campground, highlighting the supportive environment for first-time RVers.
