    Dogwood Springs Campground

    Rustic

Dogwood Springs in Jasper AR is definitely rustic and unpolished with regard to its setting.  RV sites do have full hook-ups although we had an issue with the sewer draining properly on site 31. With only one bath room each for men and women and one shower each as well, they do provide the basics. We had an opportunity to peek into a cabin and we were very impressed with the set up, having a full bath and mini-kitchen. It was well appointed and inviting.

The lay-out of the campground is a bit odd in that some sites are only accessible by driving through another.

The view from site 31 included that of Round top mountain but also vacant, declining commercial buildings near the campground.

Proximity to stores and restaurants in Jasper was handy.

    White Buffalo Resort

    Can't beat it!

It's such a beautiful place, right on the White River and the Buffalo River, just yards away. The best of both rivers. The resort is well maintained and the staff is friendly. There's a pool in the summer and a ping pong table. The bathrooms do not have air conditioning, but are clean.

    Dam - Quarry

    Clean campground, nice location

Average space between sites. Level paved sites with gravel picnic area including picnic table, fire ring, lantern hanger. Some sites had covered picnic area. Limited shade, most sites don’t have trees. Good access to sites. Clean and private bathrooms. Each room had its own lockable bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Garbage cans were outside of bathrooms, as well as dumpsters near the registration building. Friendly staff upon check in. Campground was patrolled regularly. No laundry or recycling. Nearby road with little road noise. Verizon cell signal was excellent. There is a dump station and potable fill station. No store or food for purchase on site. No hiking in campground, but multiple trails nearby. Boat ramp at campground and lots of wading fly fishing in river. Fish hatchery across from campground.

    Excellent camping

We have stayed here multiple times and have taken advantage of the platform tents, the huts as well as primitive camping. The facilities are always super clean and in great condition. Having the on-site store and gas station is awesome as we always forget something and it’s loaded with most everything you may need. There are tons of nearby activities from hiking, fishing and kayaking and much more. We typically make a day trip out to Eureka springs as it’s only an hour away and cool downtown area. This is a staple for our camping.

    Sylamore Creek Camp

    Quiet little campground

For a small campground, this place has a lot to offer. Well stocked store, RV sites, tent sites, group sites, cabins, pavilion, and even a stage for events.

Quick access to the Syllamore Trail, the creek, and nearby mountain biking trails.

    Awesome Campground

This place is great! We stayed in one of the platform huts and it was extremely clean. We stayed in the middle of July and the AC was turned off when we arrived but within a few hours the hut was completely cooled down which was awesome. Kids loved running around in the well-kept open areas and playing frisbee golf. The bathrooms were EXTREMELY clean..like spotless which isn’t always expected at a camp ground. The store is also a plus and has just about everything you might need if you forgot anything. Overall an A+ experience for relatively new campers with small children. We will definitely be back.

Denton Ferry RV Park & Cabin Rental

    Hot in summer

This is probably an excellent site in spring or fall. However summertime is hot at the site because of the lack of shade trees. Site 15 is by the water and has a large area for dogs or family. There is a staircase down to the water next to site 8. The fishing is good. It’s a pet friendly site however if your dogs bark neighbors will complain. The manager is friendly. They do not have trash pick up service; you just take your trash to a dumpster at the end of the camp, which is not a big deal. No grill available but has picnic tables and fire ring. WI-FI aid very good.

    Dogwood Springs Campground

    Great Owners

The owners were very friendly and helped direct us to our site and made sure we got backed in with no issue. It is a ”resort” style campground meaning your parked very close to each other. Considering it’s one of the few, if not only full hook up site in the Jasper area we figured we would give it a shot. There was a review mentioning being blocked in since there 2 campers on one row. That is true that 2 camper share a row, however the owners made it clear that it’s planned out that we wouldn’t be blocked in. They plan a long and a short trailer so there’s plenty of room length wise, the person parked in front of you is also checking out a day before you. On top of all that, there is always room to hookup your truck and leave, it’s just a tight fit and more of a parallel parking situation to get to your hitch. Showers and bathrooms were spotless. I also had very slow draining sewer hookup. I think they’re working on that, they had a plumber on site snaking the drains. Overall absolutely no complaints, it’s exactly how it’s portrayed on sites. Not my typical camping setup but for being a resort style, still was a great trip.

Guide to Harriet

Campgrounds near Harriet, Arkansas offer a mix of water-based recreation and mountain activities in the Ozarks region. Located at elevations ranging from 500-1,500 feet, this area experiences mild winters and warm summers with average July temperatures reaching 90°F. Several campgrounds remain open year-round while others operate seasonally, with water levels fluctuating significantly during spring rains.

What to do

Trout fishing access: Dam - Quarry provides direct access to premium trout fishing spots. "Beautiful setting in the Ozarks with a small rural town. The campground is located just below the Norfolk Dam. Great spot to fish or kayak has a boat ramp but the creek was rather low surprising since the lake at Mountain Home was flooded," notes a visitor.

Kayaking and water activities: Multiple water access points make glamping close to Harriet, Arkansas ideal for paddling enthusiasts. "We rented a boat and explored the Buffalo River - it was very relaxing & amazing views," reports a camper at White Buffalo Resort.

Hiking nearby trails: Several campgrounds connect to hiking networks including the Sylamore Trail. "Quick access to the Syllamore Trail, the creek, and nearby mountain biking trails," explains a reviewer about the recreational options at Sylamore Creek Camp.

Swimming in natural pools: The clear waters provide safe swimming areas for all ages. "We have stayed both directly on the creek and on the upper full hookup sites. We could not be happier with this campground. It is safe family friendly and quiet," writes a frequent visitor to Sylamore Creek Camp.

What campers like

Direct river access: Waterfront sites remain the most requested locations. At Robinson Point, "Absolutely beautiful views. Some damage from flooding but didn't really notice. Bathrooms and bath house were clean. Stay if you get a chance," recommends a satisfied camper.

Clean facilities: Many campgrounds maintain above-average bathrooms and shower buildings. "Nice bathrooms with flush toilets and very good shower areas. Playgrounds a boat ramp dump station," notes one camper about Robinson Point.

Shade coverage: The mature tree canopy at several campgrounds provides relief during summer months. One Bidwell Point visitor points out: "Site was a little hard to get into and a little tight with the pavillion there providing the only shade."

Privacy between sites: Layout and spacing varies significantly between campgrounds. At Holiday Mountain Resort, campers appreciate the family-friendly atmosphere and adequate spacing. "Very kid friendly for swimming or walking or biking around in the campground," notes one reviewer.

What you should know

Seasonal flooding concerns: Spring rains can affect site availability. "In the spring of 2020 many sites were under water from the spring rain," warns a Robinson Point camper.

Limited cell service: Coverage varies widely between carriers and campgrounds. "Verizon cell signal was excellent," notes a visitor to Dam - Quarry, while other areas report spotty service.

Reservation requirements: Most premium sites require advance booking, particularly waterfront locations. "Reservations only and if there has been a lot of rain some sites could be under water," cautions a Bidwell Point Park visitor.

Site differences: Campground layouts often feature dramatically different site types. "We stayed in site 13 right on the water! But be warned if you are not proficient in backing your camper sites 10-13 are probably not the best choice. You have to back down a hill quite a ways," advises a Bidwell Point camper.

Tips for camping with families

Swimming safety: Most waterfront sites offer varying water depths. At Gilbert RV Park, one camper advises, "Take all your stuff and play in the river all day. There is a float service in Gilbert."

Playground access: Several campgrounds include dedicated play areas. "Pool, playground, small store with essentials, boat rentals, ping pong, & more. Tent sites are mixed with smaller travel trailers," notes a White Buffalo Resort visitor.

Kid-friendly activities: Many campgrounds organize specific programming for children. "When they advertise a stones throw from the Buffalo river, they mean it," shares a Gilbert RV Park visitor about the proximity to water activities.

Noise considerations: Sound carries between sites at most locations. A Sylamore Creek Camp reviewer mentions, "It is safe family friendly and quiet. The owners do not put up with loud music or loud parties."

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Pad quality varies significantly between campgrounds. A Dam - Quarry visitor notes, "Level paved sites with gravel picnic area including picnic table, fire ring, lantern hanger. Some sites had covered picnic area."

Hookup limitations: Many campgrounds offer only partial hookups. "Most sites are level with electric and water hookup however no sewer only a dump station," points out a Jordan Campground visitor.

Space for larger rigs: Some campgrounds cannot accommodate bigger RVs. "Spaces are alittle close together. Staff at Marina go above and beyond helping you out. Beautiful views!!" reports a Jordan Campground visitor about the size constraints.

Seasonal availability: Full-service glamping close to Harriet, Arkansas often operates on limited schedules. "This is probably an excellent site in spring or fall. However summertime is hot at the site because of the lack of shade trees," advises a Denton Ferry RV Park visitor.
