Denton Ferry RV Park & Cabin Rental

    Hot in summer

This is probably an excellent site in spring or fall. However summertime is hot at the site because of the lack of shade trees. Site 15 is by the water and has a large area for dogs or family. There is a staircase down to the water next to site 8. The fishing is good. It’s a pet friendly site however if your dogs bark neighbors will complain. The manager is friendly. They do not have trash pick up service; you just take your trash to a dumpster at the end of the camp, which is not a big deal. No grill available but has picnic tables and fire ring. WI-FI aid very good.

    Sylamore Creek Camp

    Great site!

We love this campground. We love having direct access to creek. It is kayak, family, pet friendly. The only thing it is lacking is internet connection, which for us is a plus for disconnecting. All sites are reasonably level. Site F is the premium and most secluded full hook up site. They have all levels of sites: primitive, water and electric, or full. Their small store has firewood and many other convenient items for sale. We take our own kayaks, but they do have rentals. They have public showers and restrooms, but the restrooms are currently closed due to renovations. It’s really one of our favorite local sites to camp.

Buffalo Point — Buffalo National River

    A must!

Buffalo national river is the first national river established in the US and let me tell you it's gorgeous!! There are many places to camp but we stayed at Buffalo Point. There are a few different loops to stay on, we stayed in A. Each site has parking, for car or RV all differing in length, and you walk behind the parking to an area with benches, picinic table, lantern hanger, and fire pit. The river is behind the sites and you can swim in it. I recommend swim shoes because its all rocks to get to it and entering in and out of the water. Behind A loop on the opposite side from the ramp before the curve in the river is a rope swing. Its across the river so you must be a strong swimmer to beat the current. The bathrooms are well kept and there is trash bins available. Pets are allowed too. The loop that we stayed in was first come first serve and there was a self pay station near the bathroom. If you are up early enough, you may see bald eagles flying around the river like we did!

    Bull Shoals-White River State Park

    Fisherman’s Paradise on White River

I had heard that Bull Shoals- White River State Park was beautiful, but I didn’t fully understand until I saw it. All of the campsites face white river and there’s plenty of space between sites to allow for some level of privacy. All the campsites are flat with nice concrete pads. Each campsite has a fire ring, picnic table, and trash pole.

There is a newer section of the campground that is north of the marina. These campsites have newer asphalt and fire rings and have better access to the updated ADA bath houses. These bath houses are the single-quad bath houses where the toilet and shower are individualized into four quadrants. They are excellent for those campers that might not have travel trailers or self-contained units.

We were able to hike and fish most days. there is a playground and a basketball court that are functional and easy to access for families. The campground is mostly flat which makes it very easy to ride a bike. There were a lot of kids and adults riding bikes or scooters in the campground. There are also three trailers that have been converted into mobile homes near the marina for those campers that don’t have access to a pop-up or a camper for rent. They look very nice. The marina is also very nice and has a lot of simple supplies and merchandise.

When the dam is not releasing generators, you can wade out into the river from your campsite and fish; however, when they release the generators this is going to be very difficult. The only drawback is that you are inundated all day long with boat motors going up and down White River. It is very tranquil and peaceful in the mornings and evenings.

There are many different outfitters that do fishing trips. We chartered the afternoon with a local outfitter and had a great time. We caught a number of trout and were able to eat them for dinner on our last night. If you like to fish, enjoy camping, and enjoy doing both of those things, Bull-Shoals-White River state park is the place to go. I will definitely be going back!

    Richard's Canoe Rental & Campground

Nice spot to camp and the people are Great!!

We stayed here to utilize their shuttle services for kayaking the 11 point. It was the week before the Memorial Day holiday and we had the place to ourselves! There are bathrooms available and hot showers, awesome people to chat with and a cool dog named Dan. We stayed in the primitive camping section but were informed there are also cabins available. Our site was just what we needed with a Rim fire pit and a couple of picnic tables. Richards definitely catered to us as we decided at the last minute to take another float and they jumped right in and made it happen for us. The convince of having your own vehicle waiting for you after a long day of floating is worth every dime you pay for it! I would highly recommend Richards for their shuttle services and camping area.

    Twin Bridges Canoe Campground

    Early season, limited services

Tent camped here with a group of private boat paddlers from all over the country. Campground operations had not really started for the season. I arrived after dark and could not find the tent campsites. Nearly drove into deep mud on gravel road past RV sites. Fortunately had just enough cell signal to access their website. Found a campground map three layers deep on reservation page and located my group.

Tent sites were well-located along the river with basic tables and fire rings. I never found the store to be open so paid camping fee at bar and cafe at entrance. Great breakfast. $25/night for tents.  Grass had not been mowed and was deep in tent area. RV sites appear to be a work in progress with much erosion around the new pads and access road. What may have been a shower house had key code locks but there was never anyone to ask. Bathrooms near the entrance lacked tp in some stalls. All one afternoon and evening a group of kids with gas weed trimmers  noisely worked on a slope adjacent to the RV area.

This campground should improve over time a the management appears to be developing the grounds.

    Blue Heron Campground

    Some nice amenities, some lacking.

My wife and I camped here for four nights. Overall it was nice, but there were some things that I wish we knew. The location is great in the sense that it’s easy to get to and it’s laid out well. Unfortunately, it’s directly under an overpass and it is loud- loud enough that I used ear plugs at night.

It’s located on the White river and has a very nice gravel boat ramp, which is a big positive. It also has fishing access during low water.

The WiFi is excellent and the staff are super helpful and friendly.

The biggest plus for us is the bathrooms were among the best that we have found. They’re clean and fairly new.

There is plenty of property to walk and they were very pet friendly. It looks like many of the guests are long term residents.

Guide to Elizabeth

Cabin camping near Elizabeth, Arkansas centers on waterfront settings along the White and Norfork rivers. The area sits at approximately 700 feet elevation with a humid subtropical climate featuring hot summers and mild winters. Water levels can fluctuate significantly due to dam releases, affecting river access and some riverside campsites during rainy seasons.

What to do

Trout fishing year-round: Bull Shoals-White River State Park offers world-class trout fishing directly from riverside cabins. "We come here to fly fish and enjoy the scenery. We've spent 2 Thanksgiving holidays here and while cold and crisp at night, it's been great. Sometimes there is fog on the river making for great pictures," notes one visitor.

Explore local hiking trails: Buffalo Point features several hiking options within walking distance of cabins. "We enjoyed a nice walk along the water, views of the sunset from a small cliff, and a peaceful night without cell service! Highly recommended for those who are looking to get away from reality!" writes a camper. The Indian Rockhouse trail is particularly notable for its cave formations.

Water activities beyond fishing: Jordan Campground provides excellent swimming spots with clear water. "Kids had a blast here! Cliff jumping, great fishing, kayaking, swim beach, and even pizza from the marina!" reports one family. Sand Island is accessible from the campground and popular for recreation.

What campers like

Waterfront cabin locations: Blue Heron Campground cabins offer direct river views. "Blue Heron cabin was awesome! It was so so clean, and beautiful! Over looking the water can't get any better!" writes a recent guest. Many cabins feature private patios or porches with river views.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: The area supports diverse wildlife including eagles, deer, and waterfowl. "You are surrounded by mountains, wildlife, birds, eagles, deer, geese and the confluence of the White & Norfork River is at the end of driveway," according to a visitor at Misty Mornings.

Cell service and connectivity: Despite the rural setting, many cabins offer good connectivity. At Hand Cove Resort, a visitor noted, "The campground WiFi is OK. My Verizon signal was excellent and I was able to do video calls and Remote Desktop into other computers with no issues." This varies by location, with some sites like Buffalo Point having no service.

What you should know

Weather impacts water levels: Water levels can change dramatically with rainfall and dam operations. "Arkansas is experiencing flooding at this time and we were fortunate that our site was not flooded. We are gets more rain this evening and tonight so many sites here are closed," reports a camper at Henderson Park. Some low-lying cabin areas may flood during heavy rains.

Kitchen and bathroom amenities vary: Most cabins include basic kitchenette facilities but amenities differ widely between locations. "This would be five stars except for lack of showers. Beautiful site right on beautiful lake. Short distance from town," notes a Henderson Park visitor. Check specific listings for shower facilities, kitchen equipment, and bathroom access.

Seasonal availability limitations: Many cabin facilities operate seasonally. Buffalo Point cabins are only available from March through mid-November, while Bidwell Point Park operates from May 1 to October 31. Bull Shoals-White River State Park offers year-round cabin options.

Tips for camping with families

Look for cabins with swimming access: Salem RV Park provides cabin options with water access. "Had a blast kayaking and fishing!" reports a visitor. Swimming areas with gradual entry points work best for families with small children.

Consider noise levels near bridges: Some riverside cabins experience road noise. At Blue Heron Campground, a visitor mentioned, "LOTS of noise. It died down after 8pm and before 8am and we couldn't hear it in our camper so it's was ok." Interior cabins typically offer quieter settings.

Check for family-friendly amenities: Look for cabins with playgrounds, swimming areas, and kid-friendly fishing spots. "We had a great time camping Memorial Day Weekend. The visitor center is awesome and the park had several activities available. We went to an owl talk and a bear talk that was very informative," notes a Bull Shoals visitor.

Tips from RVers

Site levelness varies significantly: Some cabin and RV sites require substantial leveling. At Bidwell Point Park, a visitor advises, "Be warned if you are not proficient in backing your camper sites 10-13 are probably not the best choice. You have to back down a hill quite a ways."

Check access road conditions: Many cabin areas have narrow or steep access roads. Henderson Park cabins "will not handle large rigs. Better suited to smaller trailers or tents," according to a recent visitor.

Confirm hookup details before booking: Available hookups vary widely. "The front wheels were 6 inches off the ground with the jacks fully extended and we barely made level! I was fuming. It's unsafe and I don't want the leveling system to get messed up," reported a camper at Hand Cove Resort, emphasizing the importance of site selection.
