Wasted my time

Tried staying. However, the roads had been graded, and every spot... except a few at the front were plowed in.

Close to the city good for one night stay.

Good place to stay for one night if you are passing through. A little sketchy with some abandoned vehicles. Be extra careful with big rigs, there are some very tight spaces, but overall it was a good place for boondocking for the night.

Homeless Camp

Got in late and while driving around trying to find a spot, we encountered some strange people. One man half dressed walking around with a flashlight, wondering what we were doing. There may be some campers but there was a large number of homeless people when we went. Very crowded area. Ended up moving on to different spot.

Perfect site near Sedona

We went to 3 different places, all were shut down due to poor road conditions. This place was by far our favorite site during our 2 week road trip.

Gorgeous views

The roads are easy to get into but sites do fill up fast. Reception is not stable even with a booster. I have great reception and no reception in 5 minute time frame. Lots of cows in the mornings. Bulls leading the herd, please don’t mess with them as that could be dangerous. The sand is very fine and will be on everything. If windy, secure down well. The wind here is pretty brutal. The views are amazing and definitely worth a visit.

BLM land close to Sedona

Easy in and out. Dirt road goes down several miles with spots on both the left and right hand sides. I went back over a mile and had good Verizon Cell Service. Beautiful sunset the night I was there. Clearly marked spots with fire rings. The road is dirt but smooth. I saw several large rigs coming in and out.

Various sites along the main road behind the church. You can camp in any one until you see the sign a mile or 2 down the road that says no camping

However, conditions can change with weather and maintenance schedules. Recent reports indicate occasional road grading that affected site accessibility. Some visitors mention rough sections further down the road. It's advisable to drive cautiously, especially with larger vehicles or after weather events.

How crowded does Forest Service Road 761 get?

Sites at Forest Service Road 761 can fill up quickly, especially during peak seasons and weekends. The front areas tend to be more populated, while spots further down the road may offer more solitude. Some visitors have noted increased occupancy in recent times, including long-term residents and abandoned vehicles. For a better chance at finding available sites, arrive early or explore further down the road where fewer campers venture.

Is there cell service at Forest Service Road 761?

Cell service is available but inconsistent at Forest Service Road 761. Verizon users report good service about a mile down the road, though reception can be unstable even with a signal booster. You might experience fluctuations between full signal and no service within short time spans. Plan accordingly if you need reliable connectivity for work or emergencies.

Is Forest Service Road 761 suitable for RVs?

Yes, Forest Service Road 761 can accommodate RVs, with several large flat areas particularly well-suited for bigger rigs. However, caution is advised as some spaces can be tight for large vehicles. The dirt road is generally smooth at the beginning, and visitors have reported seeing several large rigs navigating the area successfully. Be prepared to scout for suitable spots, as site sizes vary along the road.

What is Forest Service Road 761 like for camping?

Forest Service Road 761 offers dispersed camping along a dirt road with sites on both sides. The area features beautiful sunrise and sunset views across open landscape. You'll find clearly marked spots with fire rings, some large flat areas ideal for RVs and groups. Sites are spread out along the road behind a church, continuing for a couple miles until you reach a 'no camping' sign.

Is Forest Service Road 761 safe for camping?

Safety at Forest Service Road 761 has mixed reports. Some campers enjoy peaceful stays without issues, while others have encountered concerning situations including reports of theft, suspicious activity, and encounters with strangers at night. Is Forest Service Road 761 good for stargazing?

While not specifically mentioned in detail, Forest Service Road 761's remote location likely offers good opportunities for stargazing away from major light pollution.
