US Forest Service manages this established campground within Apache National Forest, accommodating RVs up to 10 feet with basic amenities including drinking water, toilets, and picnic tables. Sites sit near creek and river access, providing fallen firewood for permitted campfires. Pets are welcome year-round at this remote location.
The campground serves as a base for campers exploring campgrounds around Alpine, located about nine miles west through forest roads. Nearby options include Aspen Campground just over a mile southwest. The setting appeals to those seeking solitude away from developed areas.
Description
Diamond Rock Campground has 3 sites that feature Adirondack style three-sided shelters that were built by the depression-era Civilian Conservation Corps before the age of large, car drawn campers. Campsites are located a few steps from the stream to protect the Black River's unique riparian zone, but access to the river is easy as the undergrowth serves more to enhance the river's picturesque nature than to obstruct easy passage.
