Forest service camp

Level spaced out sites, probably better for tents but our small camper was fine. It is about 5 miles on dirt road to get there but the road is maintained. Pinhoti trail goes through the camp so plenty of hiking to do. No cell service at all. Nearly all sites have table, fire ring a lantern stand. Very nice creek runs on one side.

Secluded $3 stay with a bumpy ride

For $3 this campground was worth it all in all. Points to consider: -The drive in is 8 miles in on an unpaved, backcountry road with varying inclines on slippery mixture of clay and gravel through hunting recreation area. We were in a Ford Explorer. Everybody else was in trucks. Good for them. -Seemed to be no hiking trails in immediate area so you’re confined once you get there if you were hoping to explore outside of the campgrounds..unless your car is well equipped for that backcountry road in. You can take a walk on the road that gets you there. We did find an interesting old cemetery off the trail. -no potable water -no electricity -there are port a potties -it’s beautifully silent out there aside from fellow campers -sits along a creek -it’s $3

Simple

Stayed here Saturday 4/23/22. Was exactly as described. Got there at noon with plenty spots available. (There were still 4-5 spots available upon bedtime) Many sites had picnic tables, fire rings, and tent pads. I put $5 in the fee box (i think it may be $3?). I camped in my car in site 11. Has vault bathrooms that were stocked with toilet paper. Sites are spaced out pretty well. There’s about 4-6 miles of gravel road leading up to the campsite. Google Maps got me there just fine from Cheaha state park (1 hr). Overall no cell service for AT&T & Verizon - For Verizon, I had 1 bar pop up twice for a few minutes. No lighting at night- be sure to bring plenty flashlights. Has a nice little creek you can walk over to. Lots of families, friendly folk around at my neighboring campsites.

Great cheap campground

We go here often because it is only $3 a night. The only downside is no cell service (I guess that is good for some, but not everyone).

Quiet

Nice, quiet, primitive campground. •Beautiful creek beside it that makes a great place for summer fun •Great hiking trails. •Vault toilets •No running water in faucets •Tends to hold water in rainy season •Flat camping spots •Fire Pits •Nice mountain views

Great place for a weekend getaway. Kids love the creek and some spots are deep enough for a swim…or a bath.

Very Remote

A very remote location with trash cans and vault toilets. Crashed for a night and was very nice. The road in is long and pretty bumpy so be prepared for that. Would definitely stay again. Glad it hadn’t rained before because I could see how other people said it floods.

Could be better

First of all, a lot of sites were underwater.  Not the campgrounds fault it had been rainy, just saying.  However, the fact that all the water faucets were inoperable is another thing.  Very disappointing.  On a more positive note, however, it is very secluded and quiet.  I will be back one day!

Pine Glen Talladega NF

Pine Glen is my favorite campground in this region of Alabama. It is fairly remote and has few amenities. (vault toilets and trash cans but nothing else at time of writing.) Shoal Creek runs right past the campground, giving a pleasant white noise at night, and it is situated in a glen of pine trees. It is open with little underbrush, but the sites are spaced out enough to have some privacy. The Pinhoti Trail runs straight through the campground and provides hiking opportunities, and if you are willing to drive a little while there is a lot to do in the area.

Pining for Peace

Insanely peaceful and quiet. Even with a full campground the sites are all spaced far enough from each other that you won’t hear your neighbors. Have camped here multiple times and would definitely go back again. Plus you can do a little hiking along the river and up the ridge if you want!

Quaint

This campground was nice except none of the water faucets worked.
