Best RV Parks & Resorts near Troy, AL

Several RV parks near Troy, Alabama provide full hookup sites with varying amenities. Deer Run RV Park offers 130 sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections on level concrete pads. ["Perfect place to stay for short or long term. Close to town but just far enough away to have peace and quiet."] The newer section has fewer trees, making it ideal for satellite users, while the older area provides mature shade trees. Walnut Creek RV Park operates year-round with 50-amp service and has pull-through sites accommodating larger motorhomes. Both parks permit pets and campfires. Montgomery South RV Park, located 30 miles north of Troy, features all pull-through sites with full hookups suitable for big rigs.

Seasonal considerations impact RV camping availability throughout the year. Within the region, high-speed internet access varies significantly—Deer Run visitors report needing to use personal hotspots despite advertised WiFi. Highway noise affects some parks, particularly those adjacent to US-231, where some travelers reported difficulty sleeping due to traffic sounds. RV dump stations are available at most parks, though Engineer Beach (a military campground southeast of Troy) offers only a central dump station rather than sewer hookups at individual sites. Laundry facilities are limited, with Montgomery South RV Park featuring only two washers and dryers that "got the job done" according to one camper. Most parks maintain clean restroom facilities and showers, though cleanliness standards vary between locations.

    Maxwell-Gunter AFB FamCamp

    Lovely

Great campground for military, large level sites. Long term sites have covered patios. Full hookup, no wi fi. Laundry rooms, 1.00 to wash and dry, with efficient cycles. Lake with playground and large dog park. Exceptionally friendly staff. Quiet and we'll maintained. Shower rooms available, although have not used. You do hear planes going over but not too loud as some AFB's we've stayed at. Relvery plays at 6:30 am, Star Spangled Banner at 5:00pm, and TAPS at 9pm, not offensively loud, kinda like it. Would highly recommend and will be staying awhile great monthly rates. Great Verizon signal.

Point A Park RV & Campground

    Peaceful and Clean

Point A Campground Andalusia, Alabama This is a nice campground with very nice camp hosts and clean bath houses. We did not notice any long term campers. We had full hookups, wifi, cable, a fire pit, and a nice concrete picnic table on a partially gravel and red dirt and partial asphalt unlevel site. Our site was $40 a night without any added fees. They only accept cash and check. No deposit was required!! We had a water view, but plenty are on the water. We had shade. They have several large pull through sites without a sewer. A lot of the other campers had their boats and trailers and it looked like they were enjoying fishing and tubing on the lake. Plenty of children were swimming in the water at the end of the pier. The campground is pet friendly. Andalusia is a quaint, small town that is a little over an hour north of the Florida Panhandle. We enjoyed the 4th of July parade and they have several good restaurants.

    The Backyard RV Resort

    Great Campground

Reservations made yhe night before online. The campground has not changed nanes yet but will be known as Unhitched Montgomery. Some short time stays and a bunch of long term stays. Clean bathhouse and great outdoor gathering areas, really like "the hangout" area. Pet friendly. Laundry available. It seems secluded but there are a lot of conveniences nearby. People at front desk were very friendly. Easy pull through sites. Highly recommend.

COE Walter F George Lake White Oak Creek Campground

    Beautiful campground with great sites

Stayed December 2019 for a long weekend. The sites are all very nice with fire ring, lantern pole, picnic table, small counter height table, and concrete pad for your camper or tents. Ample additional parking available. Bathrooms were well maintained. We stayed in the Oakwood loop. River Chase loop has the best playground. Staff were very friendly. Several dump stations as well as a dog park. Would like some more hiking trails.

    Deer Run RV Park

    Nice quiet RV park

Perfect place to stay for short or long term. Close to town but just far enough away to have peace and quiet. Had fishing ponds, waking trial, bath/laundry house and pool. We stayed a month with plenty of space.

    Deer Run RV Park

    Good Stop Over

Our GPS led us directly to the campground (CG) on US-231, conveniently located on the west side of Troy, AL. Check-in was quick and hassle-free. We stayed at site 60, which featured full hookups (FHUs) and a level cement pad with well-positioned utilities. Water pressure was high, so we used a reducer. The CG offers WiFi, but we couldn’t locate the guest network during our overnight stay. This wasn’t an issue, as we relied on our Starlink and T-Mobile home internet, which performed well despite just one bar on our phone. Verizon reception was also solid at three bars. The CG provides cable, which we didn’t use, but our camping friends in site 59 confirmed it worked well. The older section of the CG is shaded with mature trees, while the newer area has fewer, making it ideal for satellite users. Compared to our last visit a few years ago, the only noticeable upgrade was the addition of tiny houses near the office. The CG remains clean and well-maintained. One downside was the heavy traffic at our site from long-term residents returning from work, many of whom didn’t observe the speed limit. Deer Run also offers water and electric sites in the newer back section, which we plan to request for future short stays.

    Frank Jackson State Park Campground

Small, Alabama State Park, in Opp

Arrived at guard gate and was welcomed by friendly staff. Quiet campground with waterfront site 8. Plenty of space between sites. FHU, level gravel, waterfront site with picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Felt safe, and across the street from bathrooms/laundry. Dated but clean. Woman’s bathroom with showers & bathroom stalls. 2 washers & dryers, as well as a folding table. No dog park, but plenty of nature, paved roads for walking, as well as easy to find, marked trails. 10 minutes to town, with restaurants and a few stores to pick up groceries & necessities. Playground is on the other side of the trails, as well as the boat ramp. Lots of wildlife. Would stay here again!

    Montgomery South RV Park

    Quick Overnight off highway

Staff is wonderful, campstore is well stocked. Sites are all full hookup pull through. Restrooms smelled like Men's showerhouses and laundry facility was dirty. The ice machine was in with the laundry room and seemed unsanitary/locked. There were at least 16 permanent travel trailers that were run down and made us feel unsafe/uncomfortable at times.

If you travel through this area be sure to stop by Priester's Pecans. They have an amazing store and factory!

Military Park Fort Rucker Recreation Area Engineer Beach RV Park

    Pull through privacy

This military RV campground was very nice. The pull through site that we were assigned provided privacy as it was situated off to itself. However because of the vast amount of trees we were unable to use the satellite and WiFi was not available, but the Rec room had plenty of books.
