Ruth B. Kirby Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Ruth B. Kirby Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park encompasses the campground of the same name, a state-managed facility in north-central Florida that draws visitors primarily for its spring access. Sites range from open, sun-exposed spots to wooded areas with more cover, so campers who prefer shade should request a site tucked into the trees. One reviewer noted their site stayed in direct sun from sunrise to sunset, which is worth factoring in during Florida summers.

The springs are the main draw. The main spring has a sandy entry area and a dock, and connects to a secondary spring that sees noticeably less foot traffic than larger Florida springs. Trails exist within the park, though Tessa M. notes they were "not very well maintained," so water-based activity is the stronger reason to visit. The campground includes electric and water hookups, accommodates RVs up to 40 feet, allows pets and campfires, and has a camp store on site.

Access is flagged as rough, so drivers of low-clearance vehicles should take that into account before arriving. Cell service is available. At $18 per night with hookups, the price point is reasonable for a Florida state park with spring access. Reservations are available and advisable during summer months when crowds increase. Campers looking at campgrounds around High Springs will find this park sits among several spring-fed options in the area, including nearby Ginnie Springs Outdoors, which offers an alternative for those wanting a different setup.

Park awesome, campsite not so much

The spring was refreshing and the park is beautiful. My only problem was our site was in the sun from sunrise to sunset. I will camp here again.

Underrated

Campgrounds are nice with a good bit of privacy. Spring is smaller than some of the others in FL but still a great place to visit.

A must!

I absolutely love this place! Right around the corner from Ginnie Springs. There are plenty of camping spots that are in open areas or hidden in the woods. The springs are amazing. The main spring is breathtaking with a beachy area, a dock to jump off of and connects to another spring called naked spring...this one is my favorite. Not nearly as crowded as the big blue spring. You have everything you need at this park! I highly reccomend a visit.

Pretty cool

The water is by far the best part. Trails are cool but were not very well maintained. If you happen to be nearby, go, but don't go waay out of the way for it.
