From rushing waterfalls, roaring rivers, soaring peaks, and marvels of geology such as Old Faithful, the park has sights not even imagination even conjure. For this reason, hundreds of thousands visit every year. Plan ahead and experience once-in-a-lifetime camping in Wyoming in the process. 


Although abundant, camping in Wyoming is extremely sought after, especially near the park. Twelve campgrounds within Yellowstone National Park provide adventurers with plentiful options, but planning ahead is vital. The Canyon Campground allows easy access to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, a picture-perfect waterfall and river vista in the north-central region. Visit Artist’s Point and hike the 300 feet down to the lower falls to feel the rush of the Yellowstone River. 


For a more touristy experience, snag a site in the Madison Campground. Being one of the largest in the park and less than 20 miles from the famous geyser Old Faithful, this area is a go-to for first time visitors. Sitting at an elevation just below 7,000 feet, the crisp mountain air will refresh. This area gets a lot of traffic, so pack in your patience and remember that the parks are for everyone to enjoy. 


Camping in Wyoming also gives the chance to get off the grid. Grand Teton National Park is directly to the south of Yellowstone and allows for some easy-access backpacking. When done right, you can avoid the droves of humanity that flock to the Greater Yellowstone region. 


For an easy trek into the backcountry, get a scenic spot along Leigh Lake or String Lake. These camping sites are often booked months in advance, so get them quick! A hidden gem tucked in the shadow of Mount Moran is Bearpaw Lake and is also relatively accessible from the same trail. Remember your bear spray and enjoy some genuine Wyoming camping!

It is our pleasure to welcome you to Crooked Creek Guest Ranch! Named after the nearby meandering stream, Crooked Creek Guest Ranch is perched at 8,400 feet in the Wind River Mountain Range along the continental divide. Just steps out the front door you will be overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the surrounding wilderness. The entrance to the Shoshone National Forest is just minutes from the property and there is so much fun to be had exploring the trails whether on snowmobile, ATV, horseback or on foot.

Our facilities boast seventeen magnificent hand-hewn one and two story log cabins, and 14 RV sites with 30/50 amp electrical hook ups as well as water hookups. Our impressive main lodge provides a warm escape with good company. The lodge features our very own restaurant and bar, which are open seasonally to both guests and non-guests where we also sell package beer and liquor. We have a small general store that has everyday essentials as well as souvenirs and other merchandise. There is a heated garage on site that can be used free of charge if needed.

## Overview

The Green River Lakes Lodge is located 50 miles north of Pinedale, Wyoming. The lodge is available as a rental for day use events such as weddings, family reunions, or meetings for up to 50 guests, or as an overnight rental for smaller groups of up to 12 guests.

## Recreation

During the summer months, hiking and horseback riding into the Bridger Wilderness and Wind River Range are popular activities enjoyed by visitors to the area. The lake is open to small watercraft only, making it an excellent location for canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. There is a small boat launch located on the lakeshore, but turnaround space is limited and the access route steep. Anglers fish for brook, cutthroat, rainbow and Mackinaw trout. Fall and winter opportunities abound also, from hunting and late season hiking to snowmobiling and ice fishing. Access in winter is via 20 mile groomed snowmachine trail.

## Facilities

The cabin contains flush toilets and showers (summer only), propane and wood heat, and the lodge is furnished. The master room has an outstanding view of the lake, a double bed, its own fireplace and bathroom. The second bedroom has two twin bunk beds and an attached bathroom. A propane refrigerator and stove are provided for your culinary delights, while dinners are shared overlooking the lake. Although the cabin has several amenities, guests do need to provide their own food, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, linens, towels, dish soap, matches, first aid kit, toilet paper, and garbage bags. Firewood is not provided. Lighting may be available, however guests are advised to bring an additional light sources in case of emergency. The cabin will need to be cleaned before leaving and basic cleaning equipement is provided.

## Natural Features

The lodge is set upon the lakeshore of the lower Green River Lake, at an elevation of 8,000 feet. A commanding view of Square Top can be seen right from the living room of the two bedroom/two bath rental unit. The lower lake sits on the western edge of the rugged Wind River Range and the Bridger Wilderness. The area is replete with wildlife and provides access to scenic mountain views, as well as plentiful opportunities for recreation. 

## Nearby Attractions

Nearby is a developed campground, and trails for non-motorized use including the popular Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, as well as fishing and canoeing on the lake. During the winter months, a system of groomed snowmobile trails provide access to the lodge. Pinedale is the nearest full service community, and it located 50 miles south of Green River Lakes.

The recently remodeled Falls Campground hosts 54 sites near Brooks Lake Creek Falls. Mature pine and fir trees surround the site and campers can enjoy an overlook of the falls. Water is available. Maximum spur length is 32 feet. This site is not accessible for those with mobility impairments. Food storage is required in this campground - be prepared to store your food properly.
