Very pretty, lots of beetle kill. :(

Beautiful area of Wyoming. The campground is clean and remote, but busy. There was a lot of beetle kill removal work going on when I was there, but I think that has slowed down some.  Nice trails close by and the lake is lovely.

    Great overnight

This place was just what we needed. Bathhouse was spotless. Lots of hot water. The spots were nicely spaced. Not crowded at all. It's all gravel but hey, it's in the high Wyoming desert! $40 but got the Good Sam discount and that helped.

    Outstanding

Western Hills is a great overnight spot on I-80 in Wyoming. We had left the Tetons and this park was located at our 6 hour drive limit. It is super clean and organized. We enjoyed the cleanest bathrooms and showers that we have EVER had on the road. These people really take pride in their RV park. We certainly will be back! Thank you Western Hills for giving us a wonderful place to clean up and rest while on our travels.

    Snow,

Wonderful gem of a camping area, be aware, snow may persist into July and only altitude acclimatized individuals should sleep here. It is over 10,000 feet, 3100m. Nice views of ponds and mountains from several sites, may or may not have water.

    Amazing part of Medicine Bow

Small site with incredible scenery and stargazing. As if the views weren’t enough, all of the campsites (to my knowledge) are very close to the water. We enjoyed kayaking around the lake and hiking nearby on the CDT. There are vault toilets but not much else...perfect!

    Last-Minute Overnight

I’m not crazy about private roadside RV parks and I didn’t expect too much here. I was pleasantly surprised that the noise level was lower than expected and the bathrooms were sparkling clean and new-looking and so were the showers. I was a happy camper.

    Barely ok

Stopped for the night , the campgrounds were very muddy from a rain storm so be prepared to take your shoes off b4 entering your r v if you go during the rainy season. There was no internet,so trying to schedule my next stop did not go well.oh they did say there was internet, very scetchy. The staff was very nice.

A big gravel lot with great amenities

This is a really big gravel lot with zero shade, zero privacy, and highway noise. Prices vary depending on what kind of site you choose. We stayed only 1 night so chose a site without any hookups due to a lower price. We got 2 sites and parked so that our doors opened towards each other. The bathrooms were nice and showers clean. They also have a wonderful coin laundry room, a mini golf putting course and kids playground. I personally couldn't stay here for more than a few nights but if you're in need of a night's rest, a hot shower and place to do laundry it's great.

    Over nighter

It was a nice park. But it got so windy it scared me a little bit. I did not unhitch or use the facilities at all. But it was easy to pull in and out. The office was nice and the employee professional.

    Doesn’t honor discounts

The campground itself was fine for an overnight stay. Trailers not as close together as some right-off-the-highway campgrounds. But they refused to honor my discount program that was advertised as accepted. The woman at the desk said she couldn’t apply the discount because I didn’t”use” it when I booked online. Most campgrounds adjust fees when you arrive & show proof . Very disappointing. Watch out when you book.

    A well considered gravel lot...

and sometimes that is all you need.

This is a gravel lot behind a hotel near a freeway near a train and refinery. After hours registration was available - the usual form and money in an envelope and dropbox deal. Got a small discount for AAA. $29 for an electric only spot. I was able to use credit card for the fee by writing my number on the form. They emailed me a receipt by request in the morning which was nice. It had details on the wifi password and bathroom codes even tho the bathrooms were not locked when we rolled in at midnight (thank god).

On the friday night we rolled in the place seemed really full - most of the full hookup + cable spots seemed taken but luckily there were a handful of the electric only spots which are directly behind the registration office.

Bathrooms and showers are very clean. You can hear the freeway and smell the refinery somewhat. It was rather cool at night with a slight breeze and in the morning / afternoon it got hot and windy.

    I would stay here again.

    Basic overnight stay

Quite a large park with 90 sites. No shade, open sandy lots. Poor drainage after some light rain made it muddy. Ok for one night. I imagine it will be very hot in the summer

    Perfect overnight spot. Amazing showers

We were on a cross country road trip tent camping along the way. On the way home we needed to be quick so we picked sites right off 80. This was seriously such a nice spot. It was organized and felt safe. The sites for tent campers were BEAUTIFUL! the grass was so plush and green it was the perfect tent spot. You weren’t next to anybody else and were removed a bit from the RV’s. I can’t rave enough about the bathrooms!! They were immaculately clean and fresh. It feels like you’re in a day spa in there. The shower experience was LOVELY after a long day traveling. Paying the $27 for the camp spot was worth it just for the shower. This isn’t a destination campground (none right off a major interstate are) but for a beautiful clean and safe place to pull off the road it served its purpose and more!

    Western Hills

This campground has everything you need and then some. Nice restrooms and showers. There are tent, cabins and rv sites. For the kids there's a playground and miniature golf. The only negative is there's no grass. It's a big gravel lot. It's right off the highway. Great for travelers going through.

Pit stop on the way to somewhere else

Not much happening in or around Rawlins but a great campground for a pit stop. Nice dog play areas, playground and mini golf for kids, laundry and all RV sites are pull through. Gravel parking lot is level, no shade, and the area can be extremely windy with 45+ mph winds.

    Yippee

After canceling our KOA down the street we booked this one with hookups. It has great everything. It’s basic with no scenery but we had to get out of wind with no Rez and they were accommodating

    Great stopping point

This place was wonderful. We have a small teardrop trailer with no hookups and they had a perfect pull through spot for us. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The bathrooms really put this place on the top of our list though, they were very VERY clean, private and not crowded at all. Great place to stop off the interstate for a night, would recommend to anyone.

    Great for overnight stop

Right off of I-80, this campground is great for an overnight stop. Clean facilities, plus a nice and helpful staff. Well worth the dollars when you’ve been on the road and just want your stop to be easy!

    Great transit campground, super clean

This a great campground for RVers or tenters going on the east-west or north-south routes through Rawlins. The campground seemed best for one or two night stays or for longer-term stays for people working in the area. The sites are untreed drive thru sites. The area is open so it can be windy. It is close to I-80 and the major north-south routes. There is a playground for kids, a doggie area and a miniature golf course. The restrooms and public area were immaculate. This campground is very near the Red Desert Rose campground and very similar in layout and amenities.

The person at the front desk was helpful - providing information about nearby walks. She didn't have any guest maps so her description of how to get to the walking path was a little hard to follow for a non-local. I would stay at this campground again.

    Good for a Night

Right off I80. Lovely showers. RV spots are gravel, but tent spot are grass! Tiny dog park. Beautiful sunset. I'm not sure what I'd do if I was here for more than one night. I also got a AAA discount.
