Several cabin campgrounds operate within 50 miles of Rib Lake, Wisconsin, providing options for visitors seeking accommodations beyond tent camping. Comfort Cove Resort & Campground offers cabins with electricity, fire pits, and picnic tables, while Patricia Lake Campground in Minocqua features cabin rentals with full hookup capabilities including electric, water, and sewer connections. Many properties maintain bathroom and shower facilities separate from the cabins, requiring short walks to access these amenities. Wedges Creek Hideaway provides both primitive cabins with basic heating and fully-furnished cabins with in-house bathrooms. "This is a diamond in the rough - exactly what we wanted on our journey. Our criteria - less than $100, pet friendly and rustic," a visitor commented about Wedges Creek Hideaway.

Rustic cabins and more deluxe accommodations are available throughout the region, with pricing typically reflecting comfort level and amenities. Most properties remain open seasonally from May through October, with Patricia Lake Campground specifically operating May 1 to October 15. Pet policies vary by location, with many campgrounds like Comfort Cove and Wedges Creek Hideaway allowing pets for an additional fee. One camper noted about Wedges Creek, "Just let the owner know and it's no problem as long as you are responsible, pick up after them and leash them when necessary." Kitchen facilities vary significantly between properties, with some offering only basic outdoor cooking options while others provide indoor kitchenettes. Pine Valley Lodge provides cabins with working utilities but recent reviews indicate maintenance issues, noting "The cabins are run down but showers are hot and the utilities are still able to be used." Firewood is available for purchase at many locations including Comfort Cove, Patricia Lake Campground, and Indian Shores. On-site camp stores exist at several properties, but selection is typically limited to essentials, making it advisable to bring food and supplies when staying in more remote cabins.

    Wedges Creek Hideaway

Rustic Glamping - exactly what we were looking for

This is a diamond in the rough - exactly what we wanted on our journey.  Our criteria - less than $100, pet friendly and rustic.

This is a sawmill that has it all - they run the mill when needed, but also have primitive cabins (where we stayed), full cabins with in house bath, electric RV/tent camping and more. Even wood fired pizzas with homemade crust most nights of the week and sometimes live music!

We were in cabin #3 - rustic.  Yes - it did have heat!  A little ceramic heater had it so toasty when it was 30 degrees outside we actually turned it off - so it's sure to please on chilly nights.  The interior was amazing - lumber that I'm sure came from the mill and ceiling planks that were gorgeous - left over planks from many years ago, stored in a shed and re-purposed for the cabin. The bed was very comfortable with clean sheets and squishy (in a good way) pillows. A small covered front porch and we just parked in front.

Bathroom - if you are in a cabin without a bath, it's very nearby. One of the largest, cleanest bathrooms I've seen.  He built it himself. Women's had 2 sinks with a large vanity area, about 3 stalls (very large - you don't have to squish into them) and two very large shower stalls with full doors - not shower curtains. Heated as well.

Pets - easy pet policy. Just let the owner know and it's no problem as long as you are responsible, pick up after them and leash them when necessary.  Just a small charge for them and they were very welcomed here.

He even has event space indoors (heated) and outdoors for weddings and such.  And hiking trails (6 miles) if you choose to take on the outdoors.

The owner plans on adding saunas and a hot tub in the near future - so this would be the place to drop for a while if you want something out of the norm, peaceful, rustic and relaxing. It's off the main road, behind a field in Amish Country.  Lovely place to stay for the night. Very quiet.

Great view, Cabins run down and Beach was a mess

We have been coming here for a long time. It is under new management and we thought things would get better. While we were here other guests trashed the beach and had dogs running and using the bathroom throughout the campsite. The rules for dogs were to keep them on leashes and clean up after them. These rules were not being followed which caused the beach, in the past is lovely, but with the dogs using it as a bathroom the beach smelt like poop. Nobody in our week of staying cleaned up after them so we needed to go somewhere else to swim. If your place is pet friendly please make sure to keep up with your own rules. The cabins are run down but showers are hot and the utilities are still able to be used

    Indian Shores

Indian Shores - a worthy desination in Wisconsin’s Northwoods

This is a larger campground with a good mix of seasonal and weekend campsites. The majority of the weekend campsites are located near the prime activity locations; the pool, playground and lake areas. There are full sun and full shade sites available. The Shady sites are amongst the evergreens, so they tend to be sandier. The full sun sites are all grass. All of the sites have a gravel pad to park on; the exception to this are the lakeside sites which are concrete pads. There is a camp store and a good sized bar & grill. The weekend we were here it rained non-stop, so we did not get to use any of the available canoe/kayak/fishing boat/pontoon boat rentals. We did make ample use of the mini-golf, playground, and heated swimming pool though. The pool was warm enough that even the non-stop rain did not cool it down enough to be uncomfortable. The seasonal campers I met and talked with were all friendly and did not have the “why are you here” attitude I occasionally come across when staying at seasonal heavy resorts. I did see several people fishing in the rain and pulling keepers out of the lake to be cleaned and cooked. They were fishing from the docks. Our kids are 7 & 10 and they were never bored. There were a couple trails within the campground that were good for nature hikes. If it were a little closer to home, this campground would be on the shortlist of places to have a seasonal site at.

    West Bay Camping Resort

    Quiet woods

Located down a quiet paved road just 2 miles outside of town. You are close to the action but dont have to listen to it.

Some sites are tight/close and others you could turn around in. Most are fairly level or it doesnt take much to make your camper level. Very little grass at site but you get a picnik table and a fire pit. Wood must be bought at the store but pay attention to the hours as they close early. Plenty of mosquitoes but you are in the woods. Daytime they arent too bad.

    Bathrooms were very clean.

Full hookups, no wifi or at least we couldnt find it. Dogs are welcomed , no barking allowed. Cell phone service was good so you can work if you have too. AT&T and Verizon.

Passport America discount honored for 7 days and Coast to Coast.

Plenty of rules but we will have this on our return list.

    Aweful Management

I truly wish I could give Zero stars for this park. The park itself is in a nice location, but the manager has clearly chosen the wrong career path. We had nothing but electrical issues the entire time we stayed there in a very hot part of summer and the managers answer to the problem when I brought it to her attention was, “don’t run the a/c if you’re having issues, no one else seems to have a problem!” On top of that there is a sign forbidding just about everything you can think of posted everywhere at this park....save your time and go elsewhere.

    Comfort Cove Resort

    Overall great with all amenties.

We love this as a “go to” place for family. The lake location is perfect with both sunsets and coves. There are cabins as well as a few tent/rv campsites and a wonderful bar/restaurant on site. You can boat to a number of other bars and restaurants as well. The only negatives are that it is a bit crowded at times and the bathrooms are fairly simple.

    West Bay Camping Resort

    Nice but older

The campground was peaceful. A little dated and the websites amenities were a little stretch. Beautiful lake access with small beach. Has heated swimming pool but was closed for season. Does have a wildlife school across the road with free trails you can walk.
