    Great Location and Nice Staff

This is a  private campground that fills up quick.    It is 1 mile from Bayfield town center.  It is close to the ferry dock, restaurants, parks and beaches.  All sites are electric and water and some are full hook up.  There are cabins and tent sites as well.   The office/store is very clean and stocked with things you may need.  8 flavor ice creams on site!  There is a  dump station and picnic tables and fire rings at each site.   There is free wi-fi and a shower house, bathrooms and laundry.

    Hayward KOA

    So many tall pines!!

I love campgrounds where you get to camp amongst the tall pines (not sure what kind they are)! Large campground with lots of amenities! Right off the highway so you will get some road noise even at night. But if you're lucky to have a site farther from the road you really can't hear much!

Amenities: pool, kamping kitchen, pavillion, snack bar ($), mini golf ($), bike rentals ($), wi-fi, propane ($), firewood ($), fenced in dog area (KampK9), bag toss, two playgrounds, basketball, horseshoes, tetherball, arcade/game room, Friday s'more party, volleyball, and themed weekends!

Apostle Islands Area RV park and Camping

Best spot to explore the Apostle islands

This is the best base camp for exploring the Apostle islands. It’s about a mile from Bayfield. There is bike rental at Howl bike shop which is walking distance. Howl also has a brewery with outside seating. The camp ground itself is quiet and clean. We didn’t go in the bathrooms or use the washers due to Covid. Owners are very accommodating.

Apostle Islands Area RV park and Camping

Perfect destination to camp by kayak

We kayaked to many campgrounds and islands in the national lakeshore. paddling a total of 60 miles we were able to make it to 3 different island campgrounds. Bathrooms and picnic tables were at most camp sites, some camp sites were very desolate and rustic. No running water on some islands.

Great woodsy location close to town

Loved this location. 1.5 miles out of Bayfield, yet great outdoorsy feel with decent privacy. Can bike to the brewery or wineries and bike to town. Common area great for corn hole and a meager playground for the kids. Also super close to the gourmet garage bakery. Yum.

    Treeland Farm RV Resort

    A lovely little retreat

After an unfortunate start to a holiday weekend at a KOA site we blindly booked, were left with our camper, 3 anxious dogs & nowhere to go . The KOA was kid central, noisy, overly crowded, & the campers & RVs packed on top of each other like sardines. My worst RV Park nightmare! I panicked & randomly called Treeland RV Resort , blindly once again. The phone # listed rings the maim resort . The RV Park is located right across the street. They kindly transferred me & I was greeted with the very lovely Susan. She was phenomenal from the beginning. I asked if they happened to have any openings for a pull thru or back in site. It was a Saturday on Memorial Day weekend..& she didn’t laugh at me! She was happy to announce that they did indeed happen to have a cancellation & she’d gladly hold the spot for us !! Hallelujah! About 45 minutes later we pulled in to the park.. we knew instantly this was going to be amazing. We just knew.. ya know? It had a cute red barn office & we immediately noticed how immaculate & thoughtful the landscape & aesthetic is. Susan was just as lovely in person. She gave us our site info , calmed our nerves & told us to get situated at our site & then we could come back to the office at our leisure & finish the paperwork. Wowza! We found our site & we were not disappointed at all. In fact just blown away! Tucked away from our neighbor just enough to have plenty of space for us & the pups but without being completely segregated. There is a playground & heated pool , but it’s just far enough away to not be heard at all but a quick walk to get to if you so desire. Nooks of trees for privacy & a hammock, lots of green grass & a cement area & a well cared for picnic table & bonfire pit & grill. The pull thru gravel driveway at our site was ample & level. All the hook ups were neatly & conveniently ready for lift off. No fuss no muss.

This place goes on & on with quaint little touches. It was welcoming from the very beginning phone call & the people who run this place are incredible, helpful, thoughtful & just plain kind. Susan & her hubby Mike are fantastic.. we can’t say enough about them. Everyone & everything was quite literally perfect. I don’t get to say that often . The dogs were welcomed with open arms too! There were plenty of trails & things for them to see & do.

We were there 3 full days & just barely began to scratch the surface!

So looking forward to going back!!

    Northland Camping & RV Park

    Nothing to write home about

Pros *Bathrooms kept clean except the mold on the shower curtains. *Lots of pull through parking *Close to Duluth

Cons *Noisy highway and train nearby *Park has a slightly sewer scent *Sites close together and not very many trees *Price to high for what you get in my opinion

Okay for a night but not a destination. Only cash and checks accepted for payment.

    Anchor Inn

Bad location, doesn’t deliver as promised

This campground is right off the highway next to a gas station. You can call to reserve a spot and it was $20 for an electrical and water hook up, $15 for just electrical. Bathroom/shower house is tiny. The spot we were put in didn’t actually have electrical so we had to set up as close to the bathroom building as we could which was a huge inconvenience for our neighbors. They state they have WiFi but that’s only if you’re in the gas station parking lot. There’s also only one bathroom stall and shower for the entire campground to share. There’s also a drunk lady that drags a chihuahua around and calls people names, and dogs running free that nobody picks up after when they poop

    Treeland Farm RV Resort

    Wonderful RV resort!

Step out of your RV in the a.m. and smell the pines! Large pull through sites.Wooded, concrete patio, picnic table, fire pit. Very quiet. Large outdoor pool and all sorts of things to do! Across the road is the Resort with a great restaurant and bar. You can also use peddle boats, kayaks, canoes, etc for FREE!!. Or rent a boat or pontoon, which we did. It was a wonderful 4 days and we reserved again for next year.

Guide to Drummond

Camping near Drummond, Wisconsin offers proximity to the Chequamegon National Forest and its extensive network of hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing trails. The area experiences cold winters with reliable snowfall and warm summers with temperatures typically ranging from 65-80°F. Most campgrounds in the region open from May through October, with some offering winter yurt camping options for cold-weather adventures.

What to do

Water activities on Lost Land Lake: Reel Livin Resort and Campground provides direct access to fishing and boating. "Cheap boat and pontoon rental, very friendly and kind staff," reports one camper. Lost Land Lake offers good fishing for those interested in catching northern pike and walleye.

Explore the Brule River: The Brule River State Forest offers canoeing and kayaking opportunities on this popular trout stream. A visitor noted, "Rentals about 1 mi. away in Brule with reasonable prices. Fishing off the pier." The forest also contains a fish hatchery located about 1/2 mile from the campground, showcasing the area's commitment to maintaining healthy fish populations.

Winter fat biking: The trails around Drummond transform in winter for fat biking adventures. Winter yurt camping near Drummond, Wisconsin provides a warm basecamp for these cold-weather pursuits. Roam Base Camp connects directly to trail systems suitable for this activity, as one visitor mentioned: "It's connected to miles of trails for multiple uses like mountain biking, hiking, running, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and winter fat biking."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently appreciate well-maintained bathroom and shower facilities in the area. "Bathrooms are clean, showers are hot! The sites are close together, but that's okay, because everyone keeps to themselves," explained one visitor to Hayward KOA.

Spacious sites: Many campgrounds offer good separation between sites. "It was a nice wooded spot and a nice base camp for our nearby exploring," noted one camper about the walk-in sites at Bois Brule Campground. The walk-in sites also serve as canoe campsites for paddlers.

Natural settings: The Drummond area features heavily wooded campgrounds with mature pine trees. "Very lush and green, lots of trees and nice individual spots," observed a visitor at Boise Brule Campground. The dense forest provides natural screening between most campsites.

What you should know

Mosquitoes and ticks: The wooded environments around Drummond can harbor substantial insect populations during summer. One camper at Bois Brule Campground cautioned: "Solid hiking trail and good campsites. The campsites have adequate space and decent amenities. The biggest issue however was ticks. Been an outdoor person my whole life and more ticks than I've ever seen before. Pulling 10 or more off an hour."

Limited cell service: Some areas have spotty coverage. While some campgrounds report good connectivity, more remote locations may have limited service. Wanoka Lake Campground reportedly has "Surprisingly decent Verizon and ATT service. Hardly anybody here. Beautiful and quiet and serene."

Reservations recommended: Popular campgrounds fill quickly, especially on summer weekends and during fall color season. Many campgrounds in the area are reservable online or by phone.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Apostle Islands Area RV Park and Camping offers numerous amenities for children. "There is a playground & heated pool, but it's just far enough away to not be heard at all but a quick walk to get to if you so desire," according to one visitor.

Fishing opportunities for children: Several lakes and streams offer easy fishing access for youngsters. Black Lake and Wanoka Lake provide gentle shorelines suitable for teaching fishing skills. One camper noted Wanoka "has a nice little trout pond and is a good place to teach the younger kids fishing skills."

Winter yurt options: For families interested in yurt camping near Drummond, Wisconsin during winter months, several facilities remain open year-round. Heated accommodations provide comfortable basecamp options when temperatures drop below freezing.

Tips from RVers

Site selection considerations: Frontier RV Park and Campground provides level sites with full hookups. "Very nice park with several new lots that are all grass with water and electric. Several lots are full hookup. There is not a true dump station, only a spot near the bathroom that you can pull up to dump, but then you have to back out of it," advises one RVer.

Larger rig challenges: Some campgrounds have limited access for bigger RVs due to trees and narrow roads. "Love all this campsite has to offer with amenities! Beautiful area as well. But there are alot of trees that make it very challenging for larger rigs. There are a handful of sites that would be easy to access, I recommend calling first. We have a 43ft 5th wheel," notes a visitor to Hayward KOA.

Winter storage: Few campgrounds in the Drummond area offer winter RV storage options, requiring seasonal campers to make alternative arrangements during the off-season.
