Deep woods Pacific Northwest vibes

Popular camp area right on the lake. There's one boat ramp area and no shoreline that people can easily walk on to find a spot to sit. There are 2 picnic tables on the boat ramp, but they get claimed pretty quick. There are lots of small trails that go down to shoreline spots scattered around the road that you will pass on the drive in. Also lots of unofficial campsites that are free along the road into the actual campground.

On Lake Enjoyment in

We stayed here for a couple of nights using it as a base for hiking. It’s good for that but what’s really great is the access to Baker Lake. Bring your paddle board or kayak as this CG has good access into the lake. For us it was a cold plunge after long hot hiking days. The camp host was very nice and did a diligent job with keeping the place clean. On site water is with a well and pump. The toilets are pit toilets but were clean and well supplied. The picnic tables are new this year. Many of the sites aren’t real flat so plan on using your leveling blocks. Most of the sites are shaded with very large trees. It is the last campground on the road and the last few miles are fairly rough washboard but certainly not a problem. The last campground at the end of the pavement is much larger and better suited to large trailers and also had access to the lake.

More private than expected

We had site #8. We were pretty impressed with how private the sites were. Our tent was tucked behind bushes and not visible from the street- big win! Tons of mosquitos, luckily we had a canopy with mesh sides to keep them out. Only two vault toilets, one for the 17 main loop campsites, and one near the lake by the other 3. It was very quiet, after about 9pm it was virtually silent. Everyone was very respectful of quiet hours. The lake is beautiful, bring your kayaks!

Quiet and close to the lake

Shannon Creek Campground is off the main road that takes you to the trails at Baker Lake. Even though we chose the closest campground to the road, we didn't hear any traffic. Our campsite felt incredibly secluded, surrounded by trees and we couldn't hear any other campers. When we left our spot to explore, however, we could see that not all sites were as good and quickly we could hear a group partying further into the campground. In our explorations, we found that the campground has outhouses and a boat launch, with campsites right at the launch. The views from the launch of Baker lake were stunning. Our site had a picnic table, a fire pit and space to (tightly) fit in three tents, a hammock and two cars. It's the closest regular campground to the Baker Lake Trail, though there are dispersed campsites along the way as well. The Baker Lake Trail is beautiful and we spent an afternoon exploring it. It is also a semi-popular backpacking trail.

Best campsite we've had in years!

If you are willing to drive a few extra miles, this campground is worth it. We lucked out and got site #5 just as another group was leaving. My husband and I are full time RVers, have traveled all over the US, and have stayed in hundreds of campgrounds. This is one of the nicest campsites we have ever had the pleasure of staying in -- great view of Baker Lake, surrounded by old growth forest, private lake access, great area for hammocks, easy access to hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, etc. Boat launch at the campground made the $14 per night worth it. The only drawback is that the one water pump is a bit tricky to use and the water (at the beginning of the season) was rather discolored from rust. Pit toilets were clean enough and campground was immaculate. Managed by HooDoo Reservations.
