Cute sites

It’s a high hike. Straight up. There are two sites. One north and one south of the lake. A few good level sites and some built in benches. No fires permitted and a few fishing spots if you are daring.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time of year to visit Cedar Lake Campground?

The optimal time to visit Cedar Lake Campground is during summer months when the steep access trail is free of snow and conditions are most favorable. The high elevation location likely makes late June through early September the most accessible and comfortable period. Weather can change rapidly at higher elevations, so even summer visitors should be prepared for cooler temperatures, especially at night. Spring and fall visits may be possible for experienced backcountry campers, but winter access is extremely difficult and not recommended without advanced winter camping skills.

What amenities are available at Cedar Lake Campground?

Cedar Lake Campsite offers basic, primitive amenities for wilderness camping. There are two distinct campsites - one on the north side and another on the south side of the lake. The sites feature some level tent spots and built-in benches for seating. No fires are permitted at this campground, so campers should bring alternative cooking methods. The campsite is designed for minimal impact camping, so expect very limited facilities. Pack in and pack out all supplies and waste.

What recreational activities can I enjoy at Cedar Lake?

Cedar Lake offers several recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Fishing is available for adventurous anglers willing to navigate the lake's edges. Hiking is excellent, with the campground itself accessed via a steep trail - making the journey part of the adventure. The lake provides scenic views worth photographing, and the surrounding wilderness is ideal for wildlife observation and nature study. With no fires allowed, stargazing becomes a popular nighttime activity in this remote setting.

How do I make reservations at Cedar Lake Campground?

Cedar Lake Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no formal reservation system. Due to its remote location and the challenging hike to reach it, the campsites don't typically fill up quickly. However, weekends and holidays may see increased usage. For the most current information on availability and any permit requirements, contact the managing forest service or park office before your trip. Be prepared for self-registration at a trailhead or nearby ranger station.
