      Fillmore KOA

      Comfortable, quiet and accessible

This, as a KOA Journey, is a great place to stay “along the way.” Spaces are level and have a nice, grassy area between sites with a picnic bench & fire pit. The surrounding area is scenic with cows in pasture and a mountain backdrop. We only stayed a single night and did not use any amenities. WiFi was very weak but the hookups are in good condition. We really appreciated the grounds with trees and grass. The staff we encountered were very friendly. Fillmore has some neat gems to scout out. The freeway is close by so access is a cinch, but the grounds are far enough away to be void of any road noise. When we arrived, the wind was consistently 45+ mph.... not sure if this is an extraordinary occurrence but the map says wind picks up frequently and to store your things. Multiple gas stations nearby with excellent prices. Lots of ATV/OHV paths around the area. A single night allowed for us to explore a little and feel rested. Would definitely return!

      Relaxing and Fun

I never knew there was so much to do in Fillmore. We visited the hot springs and lava tunnels. Kids had a blast. The KOA pool and spa were great. Sites are very close together and not all sites that say have a fire pit actually do.

      Yuba Lake State Park

CAUTION: See GPS Coordinates so that you do not enter on the muddy dirt road like we did. Google maps took us to the park but an uninviting entrance to the park. Elevation 5,069 at site PR01. Painted Rock Campground. Cows had visited our site and left large pods before we arrived. There was a dump station. Our site had water and electric. The restrooms were just OK. Weather ranged in the 40s and 70s.

      Fillmore KOA

      Best KOA we’ve ever seen!

We were hesitant to camp at a KOA because we prefer something more remote but this one was perfection. Near the highway(not close enough to hear anything) but backed up to the most beautiful mountains to watch the clouds roll in. Large grassy sites, full hookups, pool, bathrooms and free showers. Fire pits and picnic tables. Quiet. Surpringly hardly any kids. We loved this spot. We walked in with no reservations.

Painted Rocks Campground — Yuba State Park

      Clean and Quiet

We stayed here for one night on a road trip. We chose site 15 having never been here before because it was close to a restroom and we have a toddler. During our stay there was only one other person in the campground and it was quiet.

We arrived and set up camp at sunset. It couldn’t have been more spectacular. The view of Yuba Lake was great and the site itself was really nice. The shade shelter, tent pad, and table were very well taken care of and clean.

It was a bit windy (our site was on a hill overlooking the lake) so we didn’t really have a campfire but the sky was so dark you could see thousands of stars.

      We will definitely be back!

Fillmore Utah KOA Review: A Quiet, Clean, and Scenic I-15 Stopover

If you're traveling up or down Interstate 15 through central Utah and need an excellent place to unhitch for the night, the Fillmore Utah KOA (officially the Fillmore KOA Journey) is a fantastic choice. Our crew recently rolled through, and it checked all the boxes for a perfect road trip stopover—with a few fun surprises along the way!

      Location and Accessibility

Convenience is king when you're logging long miles, and this campground truly delivers.

Easy Access: Located right off I-15, it's incredibly easy to navigate your rig into the park without dealing with stressful detours.

Provisions: It sits right next to a Maverik gas station, making morning fuel-ups effortless. There are also grocery stores nearby, so restocking the RV pantry is quick and painless. Trail Access: For the off-roaders out there, this park is a hidden gem. It boasts direct, easy access to an extensive network of SxS and ATV trails (including access to the famous 1,000+ mile Paiute Trail system).  Recent fires have complicated things however many miles of beautiful trails are still to be found.

      Campground Vibe and Site Quality

The"Local" Wildlife: The absolute highlight of our stay was a visit from the unofficial campground host—a wild turkey! It definitely gave us a good laugh and added some unique character to the stop.

Cleanliness and Staff: The RV sites were impeccably clean and well-maintained. We also can't say enough good things about the staff, who were wonderfully friendly and helpful from the moment we pulled in.

Atmosphere: Despite being so close and convenient to the interstate, the park is very quiet at night. Waking up to nice, serene views of the surrounding mountains was the perfect way to start our next day of travel.

      The Hitched4fun Verdict

Whether you are just passing through central Utah on I-15 or looking for a comfortable home base to hit the nearby ATV trails, the Fillmore KOA is a top-tier choice. Great staff, spotless sites, stunning mountain views, and the occasional wild turkey make this a memorable and reliable stop. We will absolutely stay here again.

Rating: Highly Recommended by the entire Hitched4fun.com crew!

Perfect place for a nights rest

Nice little spot right off the highway. The man at the front was very welcoming, guiding everyone to their spot. Was able to book a res after closing hours which is always nice to be spontaneous. The place had everything we needed which was truly just a spot to sleep and bathrooms were very clean so I give 5 stars

      Nice Campground

I-15 noise. Tent campers a good set of noise canceling ear buds will take care of it. Quiet campground meaning no people running around shouting and partying. Clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Gave me a tent site that had nice privacy from rest of campground with plenty of trees and bushes.

    Guide to Hinckley

Glamping close to Hinckley, Utah provides accommodations for travelers in the central Utah desert region where elevations range around 4,600-5,000 feet. The area experiences hot summer temperatures often exceeding 90°F and cold winters with nighttime temperatures frequently dropping below freezing. Most luxury camping options maintain seasonal operations with limited winter availability due to weather conditions.

    What to do

Explore local geological features: Fillmore KOA serves as a convenient base for exploring nearby lava tunnels and natural attractions. "We visited the hot springs and lava tunnels. Kids had a blast," noted Preston G. in his review of Fillmore KOA.

Enjoy water recreation: At Yuba State Park, visitors can access lake activities during summer months when water levels permit. "There is a small beach area by the boat launch, or a 20 minute drive will get you to North Beach. There are a couple of trails, and lots of area to explore," explains Ashley R. about Painted Rocks Campground — Yuba State Park.

Stargazing opportunities: The remote location offers exceptional night sky viewing with minimal light pollution. "The sky was so dark you could see thousands of stars," reports Ashlee W. about her experience at Yuba State Park, making it ideal for astronomy enthusiasts and photographers.

    What campers like

Convenient highway access: Glamping locations offer easy accessibility from major routes. "Really quiet, convenient and quite pretty place to stop overnight. We stayed in site 33 which was great because we didn't have to unhook our tow vehicle," Victoria C. mentions about her stay at Fillmore KOA.

Well-maintained facilities: Cleanliness ranks high among visitor priorities. "The campground and facilities are very clean and well maintained. The camp hosts and staff are very friendly," according to Jill L. who visited Fillmore KOA.

Protected dining areas: Painted Rocks Campground provides covered table structures that enhance the camping experience. "We enjoy the covered table area for hanging hammocks, which you can't do on the Oasis side," notes Ashley R., highlighting a unique feature at the state park.

    What you should know

Water level fluctuations: Yuba Lake experiences significant seasonal water level changes that affect recreation. "The lake is not accessible at this time due to low water level, but the view in all directions is beautiful," Ben explained in a September visit to Painted Rocks Campground.

Site-specific amenities: Not all sites have identical features despite listings. At Fillmore KOA, "Sites are very close together and not all sites that say have a fire pit actually do," according to Preston G., suggesting campers should verify specific amenities when booking.

Weather considerations: Wind can be a significant factor in the area. "When we arrived, the wind was consistently 45+ mph.... not sure if this is an extraordinary occurrence but the map says wind picks up frequently and to store your things," advises kristin S. from her Fillmore KOA experience.

    Tips for camping with families

Bathroom accessibility: Select sites strategically for families with young children. "We chose site 15 having never been here before because it was close to a restroom and we have a toddler," recommends Ashlee W. from her Yuba State Park stay.

Pool amenities: During hot summer months, having water recreation options on-site provides relief. "The KOA pool and spa were great," mentioned Preston G. about the Fillmore KOA facilities, which offer swimming options when lake access might be limited.

Navigation challenges: GPS directions can lead to difficult access roads. One visitor to Yuba State Park cautions: "CAUTION: See GPS Coordinates so that you do not enter on the muddy dirt road like we did. Google maps took us to the park but an uninviting entrance to the park," shares Annell N.

    Tips from RVers

Big rig accommodation: Large RVs find ample space at certain campgrounds. "We have a 42 ft motorhome and a separate pickup with a 6x12 trailer and we fit both in a pull through site and it looked like there was another 40 feet available," notes Phillip R. about his experience at Yuba State Park.

Hookup availability: Most glamping sites near Hinckley offer water and electrical connections. "Each site has power and water, and there are vault toilets scattered throughout the campground. There are dumpsters and dump station, also," explains Ashley R. about the amenities at Painted Rocks Campground.

Level sites: RV campers appreciate the terrain preparation at established sites. "Spaces are level and have a nice, grassy area between sites with a picnic bench & fire pit," kristin S. observed during her stay at Fillmore KOA.
