        Overview

The Mammoth Guard station is located at 8,600 feet in elevation. There are two cabins on the grounds. The Mammoth Cabin was built on site while the Lake Cabin was moved to the site from its original location in the 1980s. Both cabins were constructed in the 1930s serving as forest ranger and fire crew dwellings for many years. The cabins overlook a wide expanse of sagebrush valleys with timbered slopes and ridgelines. The grounds that cabins are located is also an active administrative site. Visitors can expect to see Forest Service personnel using the grounds adjacent to the cabins. Travel Trailers and RVs are not permitted at this facility. If others are seeking to be close to your group during your reservation they should look at the nearby campgrounds at Gooseberry Group Campground and Gooseberry Reservoir.__

        Recreation

Gooseberry Reservoir is located approximately one and a half miles to the north of the cabins. Fishing is available from the shore, however, the only boating allowed on the reservoir is non-motorized. The reservoir also has several RV sites which can accommodate larger RVs in addition to pit toilets. Gooseberry Campground is approximately 3/4 mile to the south and has several campsites for tents and small to medium RVs, drinking water, and pit toilets are available. A fee is required at both of these sites. Within 10 miles of the cabins, there are several other lakes and reservoirs. Please check fishing and boating laws for the reservoirs. Access to the Arapeen OHV trail system is available within a few miles of the cabins.

Wind Walker Homestead offers a variety of accommodations ranging from 1000 square feet, 2 bedroom/3 bath apartments, studios, glamping cottages, and shacks, but also has some wonderful spots to pitch a tent, park your camper van, or level out your 5th wheel under the stars. With 170 acres and thousands of juniper and cedar trees, you will find your unique spot under an incredible showcase of stars. You will not regret staying here. Give us a call or email to reserve your spot soon or to get more information on how we can host your wedding, reception, reunion, youth camp, or just for a quiet weekend getaway.

Wind Walker Homestead has been a destination resort for decades, but is now family owned and being updated and marketed for groups, couples, families, reunions, weddings retreats or just a camping weekend away from the hussle of city life.

There is a special spirit on the land here and is visited by Native American groups each year. Elk, deer and many other species of wildlife are present at different times. With 170 acres, there is plenty of room to hike, bike and let the kids explore. Utah juniper and Cedar are the species of trees on this high desert landscape at 6000 foot elevation.

A newly renovated pool summer 2021 and new bathrooms, showers and laundry room added (in a 14 foot grain silo) by the pool spring 2022. We just added a basketball area and sand volleyball is summer 2022.

8 new full hookup RV pads. Far enough away from the lights of surrounding towns of Spring City, Mt. Pleasant and Ephraim, the Milky Way and stars will amaze. Come and visit for a night or a week.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

        Off Season Camping

We came here to test out our new teardrop we bought from SLC. We wanted the electric hookup. We arrived during a snow storm, off season camping was first come first serve. We used the QR code to check in and pay. We were the only ones on the campground, so we took the campsite closest to the lake and the vault toilets (flush toilets were closed). The lake was beautiful and the campground was maintained nicely.

KOA Provo/Springfield: A Decent Option for an Overnight Stay, But Not Without Its Drawbacks

I recently stayed at KOA Provo/Springfield and while it had some positive aspects, overall, I give it a 3 out of 5 stars. The campground is conveniently located near the I-15 and a gas station, which was convenient. However, I did find the price to be a bit high for what they had to offer.

One of the main issues I had with the campground was the tightness of the sites. They were very close together, which didn't allow for much privacy or space to relax. The bathrooms were also a disappointment. They were not well-maintained and some were out of order. Additionally, I never saw any staff during my stay, which made me feel a bit uneasy.

Despite these drawbacks, I will say that the campground is still a good option for a quick overnight stay. However, I wouldn't recommend it for an extended stay. If you're just passing through and need a place to rest, it could be a decent option.

Overall, while KOA Provo/Springfield has some good qualities, it also has some drawbacks. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option and don't mind sacrificing a bit of comfort, it could work for you. But if you're looking for a more relaxing, well-maintained campground, you may want to consider other options.

        Nicely run, just too cramped

This KOA is very nicely run. It's clean and we'll kept. The backdrop of mountains and colors are gorgeous. It's just very cramped. Your door opens right to the neighbors hookups. There are strips of grass between but they hold half of a picnic table.

This is a good spot to hook up and top off for a night or two, or if you're planning on staying inside, or if you're going to head up into the mountains for hiking and leave the rig behind.

Can't comment on the cabins but they seem nice and the amenities areas are very nice as well. I just prefer a little space when I'm camping.

Clean and Well Kept Private Campground

Pleasant Creek Campground is a nice campground with clean facilities. This is a privately owned campground and each site is well manicured.

The sites are close together so you don't get a whole lot of privacy. The staff were steady busy leveling off the gravel in each site and mowing the lawns. This place is great for a stop over....not my style of camping, but nonetheless it's a pretty campground.

IMPORTANT INFO: Please read. NEW UPDATE as of April 14, 2022 To contact them call:(435) 462-2010 WEB SITE: https://www.pleasantcreek.camp/ NOTE: some of the other links did not work.  We stayed there summer of 2021 under the old owner. We have just made reservations to stay there again in May 2022. It was a great stay. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because some of the sites aren't level and are pretty close to each other. I had to use 3 yellow square leveling blocks on the left side. Hopefully they fixed this under the new ownership. Swimming pool was great. Did not use the showers or bathrooms so no comment on them. Staff was (and is now--I just made reservations for May 2022) very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a place in the Ephraim- Mt Pleasant- Fairview area with full hook-ups...........THIS IS IT! Highly recommended. We love exploring the area and Skyline Drive. Beautiful country. Just 8 miles from the amazing little Fairview museum where we learned about the Mormon pioneers who settled here. No little black flies when we were there but during some weeks can be an annoying problem. We are excited to stay there again.

        Rack 'em and stack 'em

One of the less desirable KOAs that I've been to. WIFI didn't have a chance of working. Dog poop on the grass. They pack you in here maximizing the number of spaces. Its like a parking lot. The grass strip between each space is about 4 feet wide, so you and your neighbor are on top of each other. Cars were parking half off the narrow aisles and therefore tearing up the grass into mud holes. There were a good number of full timers on site with a lot of unsightly personal belongings all over the place. Close to the freeway. Traffic and train noise is moderate.

        Quick Getaway

Close the to the valley for a quick little getaway! Campgrounds are pretty close to one another but somewhat secluded depending on the spot you get. Parking next to your campground is a plus for me! They have restrooms which is nice! Decent place for a quick trip!

        Nice desert lake views

The North and Western beaches are a semi dispersed campground. There are no actual sites, but there are outhouses every couple hundred yards. The outhouses are lighted by little solar powered led lamps. The north side is amongst some pretty cool little sand dunes. We had the place to ourselves in late October.

Easy to find in the Big City

Knowing that this would be more of a "city" KOA, we were prepared for the tight sites but the view of the mountains and access to hot springs, food, gas, etc. is well worth it! The moo-ing cows roaming around just added to the ambience (We camp because we like the different places we find!) Yes.. the sites are VERY tight. Pull in was manageable and our groundwater spicket leaked ridiculously but we still had decent water pressure. I noticed that other spickets were also wrapped tightly with tape and had electrical lines leading to them (I'm sure the water freezes if not cared for).. Overall, this was a nice enough place to stay for a few nights. We stayed over the weekend so it was busy.

        Beautiful KOA!

We stayed at the Springville/ Provo Utah KOA in September 2021. This is a full service KOA with nice FHU 50 amp pull-thru sites which were long, wide and level. This KOA is one of the nicer KOA’s that we have stayed at. It is very well managed with a professional, friendly staff. It does have a pool, children’s play area and group area with two bbqs. It has lots of grassy area to walk your pups and we met many friendly fellow travelers here. I highly recommend this park. Really Nice

Had very clean restrooms and showers. Lots of amenities like a playground and volleyball net. Campgrounds face the main area where cars drive so they’re not very private, but that wasn’t a problem for us.

        Nice KOA

The spots are a little tight but lots of spaces here. We're in a 40 ft Allegro Bus. Our space was 65 ft long which was good since we tow as well. Concrete pads are nice. Grass in between, clean and quiet. I liked hearing the train horn in the distance. 😀 nice koa

        Cabin Camping

We planned to tent camp here, but our friends rented the cabin next to our site and couldn’t make it last minute. So we got the cabin! Great spot. Lake is cool and an easy walk down from the sites. Shade is at a premium, so we were very happy to get the cabin because it was crazy hot. Clean bathrooms with nice showers for rinsing off after splashing in the lake all day.

        Great campground

The staff there are super helpful and friendly. The campground is well maintained and clean with lot of trees for shade. The camp spots are plenty large with all the amenities anyone would need regardless of RV size. The community in Mt. Pleasant and nearby Fairview is like from an old movie; old yet gorgeous.

A nice little place to camp

We had site 11 close to the bathroom and in a flat, sunny clearing surrounded by trees. You could hear the nearby road a bit and see the mountains a little bit.

        Beautiful Location

I booked a double site here for the first time, and they are beautiful.  I enjoyed the location, the space, and my whole family did as well!  There was some garbage in the fire pit when we arrived, but other than that it was fantastic. Soap and water with flushing toilets, etc.

I loved sleeping near the creek and hearing the water at night. The campground was clean and bigger than I expected.

        Hidden Gem

Utah state recreation area, OHV recreation area along with beach side camping. Year round access. Campground is RV only (I think) beach tent camping along the whole lake, vault toilets around the lake, Occasionally there are trees but mostly not, can get dusty if people are driving thier off road toys. Only 1 vehicle per reservation extra car can be paid for. Nice beautiful, relaxing.

        Yuba Lake North Beach

Arrived on Thursday evening to a completely open beach. A few others pulled in later but parked 100 yards away. Friday evening filled in more but still well spaced. Plenty of space at this location. Was able to paddle board on lake. TMobile 2 bars. Wind picked up Saturday with gusts up to 40MPH. Headed home.

        Beautiful spot

We had one night here on a road trip to southern CA. It was beautiful. Clean, quiet, well maintained. We were there on a weeknight in April so I can imagine it gets pretty busy in weekends and in warmer weather. It was 25 degrees overnight so we were grateful to have the electric hook up! Road was well maintained getting there and not too far off the interstate that it made for a good stop over! We will be back.

Keep on going and don’t stop!

I stayed here a while ago. It is too noisy with the highways and cars passing by on the roads. People do block you in here, due to not enough parking. Spaces are limited and too small! A big camper or even an RV is not comfortable and can barely fit with another camper/rv on the side of it. I couldn’t even move all of my slides out with a camper next door. The rules are no strict, you can’t have anything on the ground. Also, I will add this if you are a Christian and not a Mormon; DON’T STAY HERE! The place is run by mostly Mormon! They do judge and do look down on you. I would prefer more privacy and being open minded and excepting.
