Nice Park & Camping

We stayed in a Camper Cabin in this park in the wintertime.  It was a great experience for our kids and a fun winter camping experience for mom and dad.  The camper cabin was nice and warm and we even cooked our dinner over a fire at night.

Great park, limited privacy campground

the park is beautiful and the lake is really nice, however the campground was essentially an open field with sites numbered along the edge. No privacy which made it tough to travel with dogs and kids were running around everywhere. Well kept but wouldn’t stay at this site again.

Beautiful State Park

I was here for a brief stay while on a geotour. This park has lots to offer. Great camping sites and many hiking trails. During the time I was here the wildflowers were in full bloom! Be sure to take the interpretive trail and discover all the wildflowers that grow here. Don't miss the historical monument near the entrance of the park. It tells a lot about the attempts Native Anericans made to gain back their land from early settlers.

Great Getaway!

This place has tons to offer!

Fantastic campground

Our party consisted of two adults, and three children under 12. The cabin consisted of bunk beds with double beds on bottom and twin bed on top. With our gear for four days we found the cabin had just enough room for our party. Any longer or more kids and the cabin would be too small.

The cabins are close to the lake. In early October the leaves are mostly fallen and you have an unobstructed view of the lake and surrounding hills. During the day take in the great vistas across the lake, at night look up and see stars that can only be seen in the wilderness.

The area has several good hikes of 3 - 7 miles in length. If you are looking for heavy wooded off trail hikes you can forge your own way otherwise we found the trails great for family hikes, and a morning run.

Bathrooms, and showers are clean and better than I have experienced at other state parks.

Laura Ingels Wilder?!

I camped at Lake Shetek State Park, MN many years with my two daughters. We were there for a week. Took in the park and swimming on the beach along with going to the Laura Ingels Wilder Pageant! My youngest daughter at the time was a huge fan! We even ate at Nellie's Diner!

Lakeside with a view

Spent the long Labor day weekend at Shetek in cart in site 7. About a two block walk into the woods. Site 7 is lakeside, but the steep embankment makes it feel a little farther away. There is a pit toilet and water near the cart in sites, both in good working order. The flush toilets and showers are about a quarter mile farther. In very nice condition. Lots to do at the camp, nice lake for boating and plenty of ponds for kayaks and canoes and for fishing.
