      Point South KOA

      Excellent Stop tucked off I95

Stayed at #52 and it was very private, level, and clean!

The gravel kept the camper clean; the deck with bench, table and chairs, gas fire pit was super nice; the grill with picnic table were awesome. The plot abuts the grassy area but wasn’t too buggy.

We went on a walk with our girls around the camp site, to the doggy area (small bjt super cute with some see saws, etc.), around the lake, and read the historical signs. We checked out the giant chess board, playground, horse shoes, and corn hole.

COVID restrictions were really well explained. Masks suggested, pool sign up with rules posted. We signed up for 6:30 and the team thoroughly cleaned between us and the precious crew.

The food and store was super and reasonable.

Next time I will def check out the nightly wine or beer tasting.

Can’t say enough good things - will def be back!!

      Skidaway Island State Park Campground

      Narrow Roads, Big Sites

Stayed at Site 77 for 2 full weeks.

25 minutes to the historic district of Savannah, GA, 40 minutes to Tybee Island beach and about 1hr15min to Hilton Head Island.

      AT&T service = 1-2 bars Verizon service = 3 bars

WiFi is available ONLY in Visitors Center.

The bathhouses were always very clean and we were able to walk the trails several times while here.

This is a great and affordable way to stay near Savannah in an awesome GA State Park

Our only complaint is that the roads are very narrow, have many roots pushing up the pavement, and the roads are barely wide enough for a truck/camper let alone the fact that they are NOT one way roads.

      Edisto Beach State Park Campground

      Awesome State Park!

I have visited this campground twice and LOVE IT!!! Sites are wooded and private. They all have picnic tables and fire rings. Some of them are beachside, others are Marshside but they are all pretty wooded and private. They also have great walking trails and a fabulous camp store! Great picnic areas and a beautiful beach! What more could you ask for? Also the grocery store is right at the entrance of the park for all your necessities.

      Beautiful Park in Great Location

This state park is close to a lot of things to do.  Very close to Wormslow Historic Site and Savannah.  The campground is really nice with large trees and lots of hanging moss.  We were in site 61 that was very deep and secluded with our picnic table set back from the road.  We had to park our camper crooked because of a tree and roots.  The bath house was nice and clean.  However the heat was broken on the hand blower in the women's side.

There are sites with full hook ups.  There are also nice trails with one that leads to an observation deck.  Also have bike rentals.

Beach Campground -- It Doesn't Get Much Better Than This!

This is our absolute favorite campsite of all time! It is very private and secluded, but right around the corner from the beach. It is for tents and small campers only, as we barely had enough room to get our pop up backed up in the site with the truck. The site slopes up, evens out, and then slopes right back down to the fire ring and picnic table. Our pop up is a 10-foot box and it was just enough room to get it on the level spot without sloping one way or the other. It was also just wide enough for our awning to be set out with a little room to walk around. Once situated, there is plenty of room at the picnic table and fire ring to sit around and park bikes, etc.

There is plenty of shade and you can hear the waves crashing on the beach. The site also has water and electric hookups, but we try to bring our own water since you can still taste the salt. It is so relaxing!

This is on the Beach Campground and the only problem we noticed it is that the outdoor shower for washing off sand from the beach has low visibility because it is on the road side of the bathhouse and not the beach side. The result is people clogging up the showers with sand because they don't even see the outdoor shower in some cases.

The park has some amazing nature trails to bike and hike as well as a nice educational nature center.

We always enjoy our stay here and will definitely continue to book here as long as we can.

      Savannah South KOA

      Beautiful & Clean

This was our very first camping trip (2 adults, 2 kids & a Lab.) We arrived to friendly service & easily found our site (#6.) The tent sites are right on the water, which is home to swans, ducks, turtles & possibly gators too! The sandy pad for our tent was perfect, very level & comfortable. There was plenty of room for our big screened canopy, picnic table, chairs & fire ring. The views from the lake were wonderful & t made waking up to see the sunrise worth it every day.

This campground is about 30mins from Savannah & Tybee Island - both of which we visited & enjoyed.

The bathhouse & general store were very clean & located a short walk from the tent sites. There is also a playground & pool. The campground was quiet, we had no issues at all.

We will definitely be returning soon!

River's End Campground & RV Park

River's End - Well Kept KOA

Mainly a RV park, but about a dozen tent pads (fine gravel, well kept, no trash) in grassy lots with picnic table and fire pit. Family style bathroom/ showers. Office with coffee, games, books. Host on golf cart was helpful with last minute arrival and places to eat on island. 3 block walk to beach. There was also a larger group camping area - saw a scout troop there - these sites had water and power.

      Lots of options

I stayed in a back in site in camping area 2. I would call it big rig challenging w/the narrow road and tight-ish back in. I enjoyed the trails & observation tower as well as the cute little shop where you check in. My friend joined me over the weekend & her kids really liked the All About Bats presentation & the playground. Lots of deer & other wildlife to be seen. Shaded sites & mine was full hookup. Pet friendly & the laundry facility takes credit cards. They ended up renting a yurt which was cool. There are also cabins but we didn’t see those.

    Guide to Hilton Head Island

Cabin accommodations near Hilton Head Island provide year-round shelter options across eastern Georgia and coastal South Carolina. The region has hot, humid summers with average July temperatures reaching 91°F and mild winters rarely dipping below 40°F. Most cabin rental areas sit at elevations under 30 feet above sea level, making them susceptible to occasional flooding during hurricane season from June through November.

    What to do

Trail exploration near cabins: At Skidaway Island State Park Campground, visitors can access multiple hiking paths directly from the campground area. "The campground is beautiful and well-maintained. There are some easy nature trails we really enjoyed," notes Ashley A. Most trails feature interpretive signage about local ecology and history.

Horseback riding experiences: Camelot Farms Equestrian Center offers unique cabin accommodations combined with equestrian activities. "The highlight for us was the ability to ride horses. They provided us with two names of instructors, one of whom graciously squeezed us into her schedule and gave our girls a two-hour riding lesson in their covered arena," shares The School for Y. Trail rides to the beach are also available by reservation.

Beach access from cabin sites: Edisto Beach State Park Campground provides cabin accommodations with easy beach access. "Steps from the ocean. We had a magical time at Edisto. The Beach campground was just steps from the ocean. Opt for sites 1-12 or 50-75," advises Katie F. The beach areas are known for excellent shelling opportunities, particularly around low tide near the inlet.

    What campers like

Private, secluded settings: While many cabin areas have sites in close proximity, several locations offer more separated accommodations. "Sites are really large, spaced out and private," reports Elizabeth E. about Skidaway Island State Park Campground. The entire campground provides a "peaceful, quiet and serene" atmosphere enhanced by Spanish moss-draped trees.

Historical attractions: Fort McAllister State Park Campground cabins provide access to Civil War history. "Visitor Center was really interesting and the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful," writes Lisa P. The park hosts annual historical reenactments, and the fort structures are well-preserved with educational displays.

Cabin furnishings: Several parks offer well-appointed cabin interiors. "Beautiful campground. Clean and well kept. Bathroom and shower are clean and nice," notes Tommy C. about River's End Campground. Many cabin rentals include climate control systems, indoor plumbing, and basic furniture, though amenities vary significantly between locations.

    What you should know

Advance planning required: Cabin rentals throughout the region often book months in advance, particularly for prime dates. "Reserve now for this Christmas/New Years eve. This place fills up fast," warns Wendy T. about River's End Campground & RV Park. Weekend availability can be limited even during shoulder seasons.

Wildlife considerations: Cabin areas often host various wildlife that visitors should be prepared for. "When I was here in April the flies were awful but they went away when the sun went down. Haha but that's when the Raccoons come out to play! Do NOT leave food or trash unattended or they will ransack your campsite," advises Hannah C. about Fort McAllister State Park.

Gate access limitations: Several parks restrict late-night entry. "Gate locks at 10 pm which really is not enough time if you want a night downtown," notes Elizabeth E. about Skidaway Island State Park. Plan evening activities accordingly, especially if visiting Savannah or other nearby attractions.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Multiple cabin locations feature play areas for children. "They have hiking trails, bike trails, a nature center and plenty of room for kids to ride bikes. The camp sites are a great size and all of them are pretty close to a bath house," states Marysa H. about Skidaway Island State Park Campground.

Entertainment options: Point South KOA offers family-friendly amenities near their cabin rentals. "Our kids loved the gem mining and playground," shares Christa C. The property also features horseshoes, a giant chessboard, and corn hole games for family entertainment.

Educational opportunities: Several cabin locations offer learning experiences for children. "We checked out the giant chess board, playground, horse shoes, and corn hole. We went on a walk with our girls around the camp site, to the doggy area, around the lake, and read the historical signs," reports The Tophams about their stay at Point South KOA.

    Tips from RVers

Supply availability: Savannah South KOA provides convenient access to necessities for cabin campers. "Easy in and out to main arteries. Convenient to attractions and supplies," notes Sally S. Most cabin locations require guests to bring their own linens, cooking supplies, and personal items.

Off-season advantages: Many cabin rental facilities operate year-round with reduced rates during winter months. "We stayed here during the winter and had fun. This campsite is perfect for riding bikes around," shares Aimee M. about Edisto Beach State Park. Winter temperatures typically remain mild enough for outdoor activities.

Transportation considerations: Travel distances from cabin rentals to major attractions should be factored into planning. "This campground is about 30mins from Savannah & Tybee Island - both of which we visited & enjoyed," reports Jessica from Savannah South KOA. Consider bringing bikes or renting golf carts where permitted for local transportation.
