    Overview

Seven Points Recreation area, located in the central region of Raystown Lake, is perfectly situated for outdoor recreation. Within a short walk from every campsite, visitors can find everything from interpretive trails to a visitor center. Plus there's easy access to swimming, boating, fishing hiking, and biking. For more detailed maps and information on the Seven Points Recreation area visit our website.

    Recreation

Boating is always popular at Raystown, but there's more than just boating. Fishing for muskies, small and large mouth bass, brown trout, and many other Pennsylvania species is excellent. Every summer weekend there are education and entertainment programs at the amphitheater. The Greenside Pathway, a recycled rubber tire hiking trail, provides a safe walking route that connects the campgrounds to all of the recreational facilities within Seven Points; and world class mountain biking is available on the Allegrippis Trails and mountain biking skills park near the Visitors Center. Other nearby trails include the Lower Trail (Rails to Trails), the Terrace Mountain Trail, the Old Loggers Trail, and the Mid State Trail.

    Natural Features

Raystown Lake is located within the ridge and valley province of Pennsylvania. The lakeshore is lined with an old oak-hickory forest giving way to mountain ridges and cliffs. The man-made lake is fed by the Raystown Branch tributary of the Juniata River and is the largest lake completely in the state of Pennsylvania. Recreation season temperatures range from the 60s to 90s, with three to four inches of rain per month. The nights are cool and the days are pleasant through spring and fall.

    Nearby Attractions

Campers can take day trips to the Lincoln Caverns, Altoona Railroaders Museum, Swigart Antique Car Museum, or other nearby attractions. Visit www.raystown.org for local attractions and activities. The nearby city of Huntingdon, 11 miles north, is a good place for restaurants, shopping, and theaters.

The Space: Relax and unwind at the Ridge Top Retreat.

Guest Access: This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with land owners to offer unique accommodations in beautiful outdoor spaces. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature!

Your Tentrr campsite includes a 10'x12' (120 square feet) safari-style canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside the tent you'll find one queen bed with a memory foam mattress. The tent is big enough for the bed plus one or two extra sleeping bags on the floor. Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that___s provided. You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, and 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs.

Max Occupancy: This refers to the total number of campers allowed onsite with your reservation.

Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with a CleanWaste Sani-Bag supplied at the camp prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean.

Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.

What you should bring: -S'mores supplies & any food you'd like to eat -A cooler to keep your grub from spoiling -Bedding and pillows

Interaction with Guests: Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location.

If a Tentrr Host submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the host's property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set!

Reservation Modifications/Cancellations: Please note the terms of the cancelation policy as they are outlined in your confirmation email. Your Tentrr Host is unable to change or cancel your reservation on your behalf, and they are unable to waive any cancellation fees (if applicable). If you have any questions regarding modifications to your booking, please reach out to Tentrr Customer Support.

Other Things to Note: Be aware of your surroundings. Watch for wildlife including rattle snakes, copperhead snakes, bears, bobcats, and many other dangerous animals. Check yourself often for ticks. Be respectful of the property and keep the site clean. You are welcome to use all supplies on site. But do not take anything that you didnt bring into the site. No loud music or partying at the site. Clean up after yourself. At the end of your stay deposit all trash into the large trash can provided. If you have any questions or concerns contact the camp host asap. If you need water container refilled contact host. All ya need is a cooler and food!!

    Beautiful Spot

I’ve camped here twice, two years ago in a Kodiak tent and this year in my Airstream GT24. Such a lovely spot! It’s spotless, and Raystown Lake is gorgeous.

Camping right on the River with nice trails.

First time staying at Clear Creek State Park and had a spot just below where the Creek empties into the River.  We were able to turn the RV so the door/awning faced the River.  We saw a two different Merganser mamas with young, a green heron fishing, and a bald eagle go up the River.  We were right across from the showerhouse but noise was minimal.  Our dog had the riverbank to explore on her camp leash of course.  Hiking above the campground was very nice and we did an easy loop of almost 6 miles.  Mountain Laurels were in bloom.  Very clean park.  Showerhouse was well-kept.  Bringing the kayaks next time.

You've got to go to this place!

This place was awesome! We were there for one of the first weekends of the season, and we enjoyed every bit of our trip. Not only were the staff super friendly and helpful, but we were lucky enough to get a full-hookup site right on the lake. Quiet, peaceful, everything you want on a spring trip. We really got to witness the owners' kindness when we left for a hiking trip and a sudden windstorm caught our awning and broke one side of it, sending most of the awning itself up on the roof. The owner and his son got right to work fixing it: One got up on the roof and the other worked from the bottom to set it right and wire the broken arm to the side of the trailer so we could drive home. They also folded up our chairs and put everything we had outside in a neat little pile. I've been camping for nearly 40 years and have never witnessed that kind of pro-activeness. It's exactly what you SHOULD(but don't often) get. We will absolutely be back.

Run fast! Unless you like sleeping by sewage and shady management

First off when calling to make sure we could put a tent on our rv site they told us they would have to charge us for a rustic site for the weekend$99 for 3 nights. So on-top of the$249 we had to pay$99 more for a tent on the same site. Ok so we paid it. i asked A few people& they said they did not have to pay extra! not cool! Woke up on the first morning here&there was a flow of water coming from the ground. It had a bad smell to it& it was heading toward our site area. We had the ground manager come over&he told us"it was not sewage but it did smell bad". He did come back and offer us 2 sites(rem we had to pay for a rustic camp site for our tent) up closer to the playgrounds. This area was literally 20 feet from the pavilion, the giant campfire, bathrooms, volleyball court&playground&our neighbors would literally be in the back of our picnic table. NO space!!! So we choose to stay in our current spot. They did offer$25 off a day. later that day the water was getting worse, it is gray in color! This is not just ground water! Its some kind of water runoff from sewage somewhere. we stopped a staff member& he came over and told us they knew about this They dug it up& just filled it back in. Seriously!? Oh its site 75 STAY AWAY! So we sent that staffer to get the manager about 530(mind you he was supposed to stop by at 300 also). Anyways the mgr never came over. We just went to wash dishes& there the mgr& staffer were playing corn hole& drinking!! We have heard from multiple campers here that this place changed ownership in 2021&they said it has gone down hill! They said just this year the prices have about doubled for permanent rental sites& alot of people are moving out at the end of this season! This should be a huge sign to people coming here the"regulars" are leaving Day 2 I went to the rest room at 3am& the toilet would not flush& i couldnt wash my hands, no notes in the bathroom about water issues. Woke up this morning& was i formed that the sewage was worse& came closer to my tent. I popped out of the tent& it is flowing closer but there is still a few feet before it hits us. Also found out that my friends husband went up to the bathhouse this morning to use the facilities still no water. He walked out& found the manager in a room turning back on the water. He said"i came in today& heard the water was off". He then went back into the restroom&there was water. then went back outside& looked at the door mgr was in was& it was a locked door. only way water was off is if you or your staff turned it off buddy! Our neighbors by us told us that they were given notice to conserve water. Conserving water&taking water away from us(turning it off and locking the door) are too totally different things! My friend called the office and spoke to his wife& she got irate w/ him. Shortly after The mgr came flying over yelling at us to leave(so disclaimer my friends husband did make the decision to stay because he did not want to move his pop up&the new sites were ridiculously small, but he also couldn't just bite his tongue) The mgr& my friends husband got into a very loud verbal match which ended up with us getting 3 hours to leave the campground with no refund at all now. My friend stepped in& tried to reason with the mgr& he said"you guys did nothing, you have been very understanding but he has not". So i get why we were kicked out. it sucks because of 1 bad egg all of our weekends were ruined! Over all yes my friends husband got us kicked out, the fact still remains these owners are shady& unfair! They knew the whole time there was a septic issue& still rented us the site. Not to mention their ridiculous rules which so many other campers broke with multiple cars on the sites& we were made to buy a whole site for the weekend just to pop up a tent on one site(i would have parked at the entrance thats fine!) also, why are there so many photos on FB of the manager and his dad winning 1st n 2nd place with$$ for games? That should be for paying campers. I have showed you inside the shadiness of these people.camp at your own risk! This IS NOT MY FIRST rodeo camping! Ive been to MANY private campgrounds and state parks in my 45 years of life! The rules n regs here are ridiculous. Side note when you call a campground a month before labor day and they still have open rv sites… HERES YOUR SIGN! Will totally remember that for the rest of my life! We made a very bad decision coming here. I hope i can save you your time money and health coming here too

    Black Moshannon State Park Campground

    Beautiful and well appointed park

Getting to the park had some sharp turns and windy roads.  Small campground but nicely equipped.  2 bath houses were dated but clean.  Nice playground at the campground and also one at the beach.  Small camp concessions with a few camping items as well as ice cream cones.  Great hiking and a beautiful lake for kayaking.  Site 22 is a full hookup.  Utilities worked nicely.  However, our picnic table had seen better days.  The site sat down off the road but once you were backed in the spot it was pretty level.  This site also had a separate tent pad located down a few stone steps.  Verizon and AT&T cell service were basically non existent.  Every once in a while a text would come in or send but very spotty.  Sorry I failed to get a pic of the site in the daylight.  It was spacious and we had plenty of room for our 30' trailer, truck, and easy up over the table.  6+ chairs around the fire pit, cooking ring could have been better.  Grassy area for cornhole or playing.

    Beautiful tent spot

My 9 year old and myself got a tent site with electric for two nights and had a great time. The sites were all level and were well-shaded. The pool area and bath house were clean and maintained. The camp store was a great asset for small items left behind, plus prices were great for ice and firewood. We will be back!

    Favorite private campground!

This campground is by far my favorite private campground. If you have been to this campground greater than 2 years ago, it is time to check it out again. About 2021, the campground changed ownership, and a new general manager and maintenance manager were hired. They have put a lot of effort into fixing up the campground and making it more accessible. New for summer 2023 is a newly redone swimming pool. The summer maintenance crew is fantastic and puts a lot of effort into keeping the campground safe. On one trip I alerted them to a light that was out by the bath house, and it was fixed before nightfall. This campground is just far enough away from home that it feels worlds away while still being convenient for forgotten items. This is where I like to spend my first season trip to make sure that my camper is stocked and ready to go for the season.

    Small, Quiet and Beautiful

This a small campground, around 33 sites. The pads are all gravel except for the handicapped pad, which is paved. This campground is alcohol free and upon checking on you are asked if you have any alcohol. The sites are fairly spaced apart and many are shaded by large pine trees.

The park visitor's center has many participatory A/V camping and wildlife exhibits. The law enforcement/ranger was exceptionally helpful and friendly and he provided me with the locations of current elk sightings.

I had no verizon cell service in the park.

    No cell, no problem!

General: 73-site campground; most have electric hookups, and some are FHU. Pets are only permitted at selected sites. There are also 20 (13 rustic and 6 modern) cabins. Cell service is extremely limited to non-existent (Verizon).

Site Quality: Pads are gravel and most appeared to be level. Site 70 was at the end of the loop which is why we picked it. A picnic table, fire ring, and lantern hook complete each site.

Bathhouse: As has been our experience in all PA state parks, the bathhouse was pristine, and the shower (for no additional cost) was clean with plentiful hot water and was very much appreciated.

Activities/Amenities: Coin-operated laundry. A playground is in the campground and there is an additional one at the swimming beach. The swimming beach is open from mid-May to mid-September, from 8 am– sunset. Electric motorboats are permitted on Moshannon Lake. Boat rentals are available in season. Permits are required. 24 miles of hiking trails, including two trails directly from the campground to the lake. In the summer, there is a camper store/concession stand. Hunting is allowed in season. There are 4.3 miles of mountain biking trails.

I used to think Oregon State Parks were the best, but Pennsylvania State Parks have them beat by a mile. We have yet to be disappointed by the amenities(especially the clean bathrooms) offered at the half-dozen state parks we have visited so far.

    Seven Points (PA)

Favorite PA campground — the view !!!

Love staying at Seven Points CG.  This Corps part got a spruce up in 2022.  The roads on the point loop were upgraded.

Tough to get waterfront spot during main season, but fall is beautiful here.

Chipmunks are fun to watch.  Point loop is my favorite. Sites 128, 126 126a, 154 are perfect.  Easy access to the lake from your site.  Bath house is up at the top of the hill.  Be prepared for that walk.

Get water at the dump station on the way in!!! Easier than trying to attach to the spigots on the loop.

Trough State Park nearby is a great place to hike!!

    Beautiful campground

This entire park is beautiful! There are plenty of well-maintained, well-marked trails for all experience levels. The lake is lovely with a very nice swimming beach (although I imagine that the water is cold even in the summer). The campground is wonderful! The sites are large and relatively private. The showers in the bath house are clean and nice. There wasn't much in the camp store when we were there, but it was the end of the season. Note: there is NO Internet or cell service there, but the locations where you can get cell service are posted. There is also no firewood available in the camp, but nearby locations where you can buy it are posted.

    Woods and mushrooms

This was a comfortable one night stay for us. The walk from our site to the lake revealed a larg variety of mushrooms. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a place interesting. All else was comfortable. Some how though we never saw the actual name of the campground. Enter Crooked Run campground or you may end up on the wrong side of the park like we did.

    Nice campground

So this is a nice weekend lace to camp. Clean bathrooms and hot showers but if you like to pay a different price each time you get there, then have fun. I had 3 different prices when I went there last. Was going to make this a home camp but since they played the different price game I will look elsewhere!

Campground is perfect, clientele often ruins it

Such a scenic and beautiful place to camp and the campground is set up perfectly. On that note, the clientele just ruins it. If hearing adjacent sites having hootenannies, getting loaded, blasting out country music, and screaming all night is your thing, this is your place. Tried to call rangers but only got a message machine. The clientele sucks so much

    Beautiful Park on the Water

This is a relatively small campground on the river. Many sites are shaded and the park and restrooms are very clean. Firewood is available at the campground. Hosts were very friendly. The one downfall is that the sites are fairly close which is quite noticable when louder young kids are nearby. If the sites were further apart this would be less of an issue. But overall great place. We spent alot of time hiking - nice hike to Beartown Rocks.

    Beautiful, wooded location - BUT

The sites are mostly well kept, but only electric at site. There are many loops and some WC's do no have showers, so be careful making your res. Sites by the water are closer together than most on the ridges. Water is available at the side of the road, but some of the fixtures are broken. The restaurant is closed.

Fun but not a lot of privacy

We wanted a waterfront spot, and although we booked over a month in advance none were available. We ended up with spot 3, which was on a cliff’s edge. So, it looked like it may be near the water, but there was no way down, and the forest obscured any view that may have been there. Even though the website said that everything else was booked up, no one was in the spot next to us (or the next several down). The spots are small though and the fire ring for spot 4 is right next to where you park your car in spot 3…so I wouldn’t have wanted to park there if someone had a roaring fire right next to my car. The website (and the people working the check-in booth) says that there is fishing and swimming available to all campers, but we found this very difficult, as there was no clear access away from camping sites. We parked near spots 61 and 62 and although the website said these were booked, no one was camping there so we were able to swim and fish there. I would have felt like we were encroaching on someone’s privacy if there had been people camping there. I find it really odd that there were at least 3 water front sites open on a Saturday when the website said they were taken. I have to assume that this has to do with the 2 night minimum requirement and perhaps the folks camping there previously checked out the day before and no one was checking in until the day after. I wish they would let you book these for one night, it would totally be worth it to be able to night fish and relax in front of the water. We also found it annoying that check in wasn’t until 5pm. The 4pm check out is nice, but for us, when it’s check out day, we eat breakfast and breakdown camp. We don’t really get our money’s worth with such a late check out and would rather have an earlier check in and check out. Overall we really enjoyed our time here, but prefer more private sites and more open water access.

    Susquehannock

    updated and ruined

We have been coming here for a decade and have camped our way around the waterfront, from the cliffside to the point. This was our last visit to Susquehannock and we have canceled our camping plans there in August. As usual, we paid extra for waterfront sites(61/62) with expectations suited for our visit(shady trees, disabled access, privacy). The sites have been completely renovated, with level tables, better water access, and new fire rings. The sites are on top of each other, they took out a lot of trees, and the rings for 62 and 63 are very close together. There was an extended family w/kids and a dog on our site when we arrived. They moved their brood to the adjacent vacant sites(64/65) and continued to swim and play at 61/62. Then a fam of 4 cut through right next to our camp to the lake. Regrettably, I initiated words. The man told me to read the rules. He was right, there is waterfront access for all now per the rules. It seems we live in a world now where some people just cut through other peoples' campsites. The larger family returned the second night to swim in front us and disregarded any privacy we hoped for on vacation. The rules state that anyone has the right to waterfront access. I think a public waterfront area is warranted for all the campers. But I don't agree with the delivery of the changes. No privacy, no trees as a buffer, and anyone from the campground can drive their 2 cars full of family(then one car back to shuttle a third set of ppl) to hang out in, and boaters from interior sites revving engines on what I had hoped and expected was a nice quiet getaway. We haven't been able to get a site in Susquehannock since the pandemic— one reason I was unaware of the changes to the site. But I missed any messaging they might have released regarding changes to the sites and the rules. It now feels like they put in more sites with the promise of water access while removing any semblance of the way it was, the privacy and the ambiance.
