This easily accessible trailhead is great for equestrian users and hikers who wish to go for a quick loop or enter Mt. Thielsen Wilderness. Two developed campsites are available at the trailhead for equestrian users. Provides access to: Howlock Mountain Trail North Crater Trail Spruce Ridge Trail Amenities 2 campsites with picnic tables and fire pits Hitching Posts Diamond Lake Resort nearby No drinking water No garbage disposal - Please pack it out Vault toilets

Directions

From Roseburg, OR, turn on OR-138 east / northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. Travel east on Highway 138. After milepost 78 turn west onto Forest Road 4795 (Diamond Lake Loop Road), the north entrance to the Diamond Lake Recreation Area. Go 0.3 mile to the Howlock Mountain Trailhead, on your left.
