Desert Sage Event Center

Good place for an overnight, unless you are here for one of the events. We just needed a place to stay the night, but there were a few other campers here for the Horse and Bible show going on. It was a little confusing which gate to enter and which area to go to, but look for the signage for "Desert Sage Event Center Archway Gate" at 44.035800,-116.972900.

We chose to stay out in the boondock area, just a big open dirt lot, bumpy and lumpy but level enough. We left the sites with water hookups for those who were there with their horses. We did stop and fill our water tank on our way out though.

Good cell reception and easy access. Self pay with an envelope and drop box. We never actually spoke with or saw anyone in charge.

Just outside of the gates is a dump station that isn’t related to the event center, but is run on a $5 donation basis. 3 day stay limit for RVs. We stayed here through Passport America and paid half the rate, but full rate is $30 for partial hookup sites and $15 for the boondock area.

Low cost opt

I like the idea of being able to camp cheap and all, but if there happens to be a storm before the day you pull in, you might encounter some mud in the grassy area. Not complaining, but was trying to stay out of the mud as I have a dog who doesn’t care where he runs and that can be a problem with the wife inside trailer.

Sitenot sure , didn’t stay

Tight spots

We enjoyed being able to use our Passport America. Was only for 1 night, but it was nice to have electric and water. The hidden gem, that others couldn’t find was the dump station. It was outside of the fairgrounds next to the roadway in gravel parking lot.

Inexpensive option

The Malheur County Fairgrounds has about a dozen tight spots that can accommodate RV's in a grassy area in the back of the grounds. It is an inexpensive option ($15) for a passthrough overnight. It has power but no water.
