Oasis Recreation Site

Oasis Recreation Site, near the Snake River in Oregon, is a straightforward spot for those looking to kick back for a night. It’s essentially a gravel area with a few picnic tables and fire pits, perfect for a quick stop or a peaceful overnight stay.

Visitors have noted the beautiful views of the river and rolling hills, making it a nice backdrop for your camping experience. While it lacks amenities like drinking water and trash collection, the clean bathroom is a plus. One camper mentioned, “It’s free, clean, not too noisy even though it’s right off the road,” which sums up the vibe pretty well.

If you’re into fishing or just want to enjoy some time by the water, this location is right on the riverbank. You might hear some distant train sounds or the howling of coyotes at night, but that’s all part of the experience. Just remember to pack out what you bring in, as there’s no trash service here.

For those who enjoy a bit of solitude, some reviewers appreciated having the place mostly to themselves. It’s a convenient spot for a quick getaway, especially if you’re passing through the area. Just be prepared for a few bugs at sunset, as one camper humorously noted, “The amount of bugs at sunset was BIBLICAL!”

Beautiful place ruined by homeless trash

This is a spot run by BLM right on the Snake River. Any sized rig can fit and surrounding area is beautiful.
There is a small pit toilet on site.
This would be a perfect free overnight, but homeless people have been allowed to dump trash in a pile next to their RV. There is also a pile left behind from another.
This is a failing of BLM to manage their sheriffs office property.

Easy access, big open space, but no privacy

This spot is right off a paved road, so about as easy access as you can find. It’s a gravel parking lot for a boat launch onto Snake River.

There are 2 spots along the water below that are semi-private, but they were taken, so I just parked in the lot, with 2 other campers in trailers. Tons of space, and the road that goes by is relatively quiet, so there isn’t much noise from it even though it’s so close.

Probably not the nicest area to hang for an extended stay because of the lack of privacy, but for a quick stop it’s perfectly fine. Outhouse on site too.

It was a spot to sleep

Nice little place to pull off for the night. It's just a gravel parking lot right next to an RV park. Beautiful view of the snake river and rolling hills. The bathroom was clean. The amount of bugs at sunset was BIBLICAL!

Several sites on the river

We stayed for two nights, it is right next to the road so there is a bit of noise here and there from cars. There are 5 spots to camp here most are right along the river. Each has a picnic table and fire pit!

Free Over night spots by the river

This Spot is a free site on the Snake River next to a full hookup RV Park. This site is convenient and accessible for an overnight stay. Besides having no cell service, this was a pleasant experience.

There are a few tables set up and one bathroom on site.

The neighboring RV park is friendly as well.

I Stayed overnight in April of 2024 and had no problems

Bathroom, quite, but no service

I think this spot is great for what it is- an overnight pullover with access to a bathroom. It’s free, clean, not too noisy even though it’s right off the road, and not far from the freeway. I have Verizon and had no internet service and calls would drop.

Free place to camp next to homeless hoarders

It is a free place to park overnight however when we showed up in late February it was already occupied by two run-down vehicles with so much garbage and junk spilling out and trash bags outside their vehicles. Like they live there and they've been here a while and you don't want to be near them. If I had to stay here again I would pay to stay in the campground next to this boat ramp rather than park next to the homeless hoarders.

Convenient spot right off the highway

Not the most scenic of campsites, and it is right next to the road so there was some noice at night, as well as lots of coyote howling. but I appreciated the convenient location, that it's free, and right next to the highway. There is a pit toilet. Remember to bring water! The river water was pretty murky, wouldn't want to filter it if I don't have to.

Beautiful overnight boondocking spot

This boat launch has no amenities, but it is right next door to an established RV park (Catfish Junction) so you can get Propane and other things if you need them. And, it is right on the southwest bank of the Snake River! A great spot for an overnight stay!

Great Overnight Stay!

I ended up here because the Farewell Bend State Park campground was full. It’s right along the Snake River and borders an established campground to the east. There are two picnic tables/fire rings, one on either side of the boat launch. The spots are right on the water and sunset/sunrise are gorgeous! No potable water, and no trash collection, so you must pack it out. Perfect for an overnight stay when passing through the area. The only downside is the frequent sound of trains. They are in the distance, but definitely noticeable.
