Nice campsite for fishing

Lakeside camping in a tent is great when fishing and being next to the rods. Level sites, can get flooded after heavy rains as I found out. Quiet sites even at peak times, good showers and hot water. Lake has some nice fish to be caught. Take your own firewood as no store on site.

Huge, Awesome Park. Tons to do. Well Maintained.

We were here for 10 days and moves from site 85 to site 70. 85 is a nice water front, sandy site very exposed to wind and primarily sand. Nice for tenting, not so much for our rig. Site 70 was perfect for us. The bathrooms here are impeccable, best of any campground we've been to. The sites are dirt and some need some creative leveling but typically do-able. Lots of beaches, hiking, biking. Its off the beaten path so trips to town are a bit of a drive. We enjoyed our stay here and the Rangers routinely (multiple times day and night) drive through the park and are friendly and helpful. The grounds and maintenance professionals are also very nice and do excellent work. We were very impressed with this out of the way campground.

Amazing sites right on the water

Our loop had every site just a stones throw from the shoreline. BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS!!! For some reason, site 100 requires 100ft of hose to get to the water hookup. Never seen one so far, and all other sites appeared to be 25ft or less. T-mobile had no service, but Verizon did.

Relaxing, beautiful, fun

Was more than expected! Being right on the lake was awesome. Walk out of your tent and “bam,” see the beautiful sights! We camped for the weekend as a mom/daughter getaway (me, my toddler, and my mom). Daughter had a blast swimming in the lake and catching her very first fish!!! Our site was in a loop with a few other sites. It was a nice setup. Each site had a fire pit and picnic table. There was also a small playground that we took my daughter to.

Beautiful park for RVs and tents

Hibernia park on Kerr Lake, Henderson, NC has plenty of RV spots overlooking the lake. Some spots give you a personal sand beach. Many shaded sites for RVs and tents. We stayed Sun-Tues for a short getaway. Most Thurs-Sun were booked. Campsites on the loop in area 2 are large with plenty of space between campers. No issues with the water and electric at our site. We did not use the dump station at the front of the park. Park is incredibly clean. Rangers drive through several times during the day and right before the gate closes for the evening. Due to COVID the bath house was closed. Beautiful lake views with wildlife all over. Thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay!

Relaxing and Peaceful in Bullocksville

If you are looking for a campground that has a beach, boat launch and water views this is the camp ground for you. We stayed on campsite 39. The lots are gravel with a lantern pole and brick fire pit with ring. Our lot was shady and cool. Lots near the beach received a great deal of sun and wind. This was a clean well kept park and I would recommend.

Waterfront and large site

We had a great site, right on the lake. Could launch our kayaks, fish and swim right from our site! Was a great way to cool off and just enjoy the beautiful water. Our site (#41) was huge. Had plenty of room. Very private on one side, it does neighbor to another site openly but we were lucky that no one ever reserved it while we were there.😊 A lot of sites were large sites and somewhat wooded. Not a campground where it’s one on top of each other which is nice... especially with dogs! Water was close, bathrooms were a drive since small bathrooms are closed due to Covid. Can’t blame the park for that, but it was a huge VERY clean bathroom with nice hot showers. Not much grocery stores close so definitely bring all you can. Firewood sold at front but closed on weekdays. Found a gas station that sold it about 3 miles away. We will definitely return. Wrote down some good sites on loop with electric that are waterfront too. I.e. 20, 22, 28 incase you’re wanting electric. On our no electric loop 41, 44, 22, and 20 were nice sites on the water.

Site 65

Spent the last week of July, 2020 at this park. This was my first visit to the particular campground. The park was very quiet through the week be became pretty busy on the weekend. The bath house is very nice and is well maintained. 'Thank You' to the staff for a job well done. The site descriptions on the website could be updated to better reflect the site. Site 65, as well as others in the immediate area, are listed as "level" but that is far from reality. My biggest complaint is the location of the trash dumpsters is very close to the bath house and campsites in this loop and the smell was not pleasant. The campground should consider relocating them to a location further away from the campsites. The ca.pground has a nice hiking trail within the park and great access to the lake. I enjoyed the visit and will visit this campground more often in the future.

Great family site for lake-side camping

We stayed in sites 20 and 21 and they are are sloped, which makes tent placement a bit tricky but doable. Each of these two sites have rocky shore lines, which makes paddle-up camping a bit challenging but again, it’s doable. Sites 18 and 19 have beach fronts that are sandy and a bit more secluded from the main lake. There are common area spigots with fresh water and several lined trash cans shared between sites. There is room at each site to park at least two cars if not 3 and there are fire rings and composite picnic tables too. Sites are fairly close to one another so you’ll be about 25 yards from your neighbors in most sites. We reserved two sites to have a buffer...$23 a nite it’s worth the extra space.

We paddled into this site from Nutbush recreation area, and it was just about 4 miles one way. Nice little kayak camping trip.

It’s mostly families camping and was fairly quiet after about 11pm.

I would do it again but I think a bit of a flatter site would be better. There is also a boat marina about 1.8 miles south of this camp site in the event you bring gas powered watercrafts and need to fill up.
The photos from the lake’s shore were taken from site #20 with a shot looking left and one looking right.

Quiet beauty on the water

Hibernia is the lesser know campground on Kerr Lake since it is located more off the popular travel route. There are only a few sites with hookups. Most sites are tent and dry camping. Whether you have water frontage or woods, the sites are large and private. Our waterfront site had its own little beach where we could swim and launch our kayak. When we camped in the woods, the other campers were well spaced. The park staff dropped by every few days just to visit and share information. It was so peaceful. Lots of hiking and biking too. Great place for families since there is so much to do.

Great Lake camping with star gazing

This is a nice campground that is run by N.C. state parks and recreation. It seems to be less populated than some of the other state park hot spots, as in I was able to reserve a lake front spot for Friday the Tuesday before the trip. It does get dark enough there that you could see the Milky Way. I would have loved to share a picture but I was too relaxed just looking up at the stars. Many sites are lake front and you can choose between more lake shore/beach like camping or wooded lake camping. The large bathhouses are nice with large showers and the small toilet houses are less new but not bad, and allow you to never be too far away from a toilet. Both bathhouses and toilet buildings are in there own field so you do not end up being that campsite stuck right beside the bathhouses with random people walking through your site trying to find the trail in the middle of the night. Over all I would say it’s a great place to runaway to.

Nice campsite on the water.

I camped at Kerr Lake a few weeks ago with a friend and the dogs. The campsite was very close to the water. That really helped to beat the heat. The campsites are very close together. We were there from Friday to Saturday and it was just us and another couple in the whole loop. I think I would not go in peak season at a weekend. It would be way too crowded for me. Otherwise it was a very nice campground.
