Falls Lake Holy Point Campground

Made my first visit to Falls Lake, camping at Holly Point campground from 3/26/2021 - 4/2/2021. Very impressed with this park. The sites are laid out nice. Some could use a little fresh gravel but would not consider this a problem. Sites have a nice fire pit, which the staff cleans after each visitor departs. Bath houses were clean. There are a couple of nice beach areas. The park also has some really nice trails. Definatly will add this campground to my list and have already made reservations for another visit later this year.

The COE did camping right

Love this campground. Located on the shore of Philpott Resevoir in Bassett, VA. The campground is broken up into three separate loops: a, b and c. Loop a has 19 sites with water and electric hookup. This loop is a little distance from the lake. It has a restroom but no shower house. There is a shower house located closer to loop b. Loop b has 10 non-electric sites. Loop c is located on a peninsula and offers 34 sites, many of which are lake front sites. There is a nice swimming area, boat ramp and dock in the loop. There is also a second shower house located here. Facilities are very nice and kept clean. The sites in this campground are laid out very well.

Fall Camping by the Lake

Back at Rudds Creek Recreation Area again and I have to say I just love this place. The current camp hosts are over the top. Super nice people who make you feel welcomed from the minute you arrive. They were giving g out treats for my dogs which I thought was a great gesture. Facilities are clean as always. Accessing a different shower house this trip and although it is a little smaller than the shower house in the other loop, its really nice. This campground is just nice all around. The sites are well kept and the layout of the sites were well thought out. The Army Corp. does a great job with their campgrounds.

Be prepared to level your camper

1st time at Lake Gaston Americamps campground. The staff is awesome. Everyone was helpful, polite, friendly and made you feel welcomed. Need firewood, no problem. The fee is only $5 / bundle, which is below average for this area, and they will deliver it to your site. Have trash, simply place your bag by your site and they will pick it up. The bathhouse is very nice. Large showers, and clean. The swimming pool is great. Mini-golf, playground for the kids and lots of planned activities. Really enjoyed the stay here. Now for the complaints: most sites are 30 amp and are unlevel. Some are a challenge to get your unit level. That's it, the rest was all good.

Cozy, comfy, homey Acres

This is a nice private campground. They have a play area for the kids, swimming pool, several fishing ponds, bike trails and more. Bath house is very clean. The sites are a good size and laid out well. There is a mix of site amenities.
They have a nice camp store and even carry some RV repair items. More than you see at most campgrounds.
Staff is very friendly. I plan to visit here more often.

Sandy Beaches and Clear Water

The sites are laid out well and like most privately owned campgrounds are very close together. The campground is a mix of permanent and overnight sites. Golf carts are allowed in the park and can become a nuisance at times. Often see you kids driving carts which is concerning. Wifi service within the campground is good. Great areas for kids to play. Activities were subdued this year due to COVID-19 but the campground usually has many activities. Great swimming area and beach. This is the perfect location for kids as the water is very clear and the change in water depth is gradual. Great sunsets across the lake. This campground has become a yearly tradition.

Nutbush Area 3: Site 106

Not my favorite campground within the Kerr Lake State Park but still a nice campground. The staff could give a little more attention to the bath house cleaning. Sites are a little more crowded that some of the other parks. There is a boat ramp in the loop of the park that is usable but doesn't offer much room for parking. There is also a bridge the can restrict access to the main lake when the water level is up. Across the street is a larger camping Area 1 and boat ramp that is top of the line.

Camping by the lake

This is a great campground. Sites are laid out really well and are spaced to provide you with 'your own personal space'. Bath houses are well maintained. The park is clean. The exception to this is people putting old rugs or carpet around the shore where the park their boats. The roads within the campground offer a great walking experience as well as bicycle riding opportunity. Lots of kids riding bikes. There is a nice day use area across the road with a nice swimming area. There is also a swimming beach within the campground. Nice boating access to the lake. Love this campground and have for 40+ years.

Site 65

Spent the last week of July, 2020 at this park. This was my first visit to the particular campground. The park was very quiet through the week be became pretty busy on the weekend. The bath house is very nice and is well maintained. 'Thank You' to the staff for a job well done. The site descriptions on the website could be updated to better reflect the site. Site 65, as well as others in the immediate area, are listed as "level" but that is far from reality. My biggest complaint is the location of the trash dumpsters is very close to the bath house and campsites in this loop and the smell was not pleasant. The campground should consider relocating them to a location further away from the campsites. The ca.pground has a nice hiking trail within the park and great access to the lake. I enjoyed the visit and will visit this campground more often in the future.

October Camping

I've stayed at this park many times but it has been a few years and this is my first visit since joining Dyrt. The park is nice and clean. The bathhouse was well kept. The staff had decorations throughout the park for Halloween which is something I dont remember them doing in the past. There is a nice playground for the kids. Beautiful sun rise over the lake.
