Basin Creek Campground - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

The brilliant state of North Carolina in their infinite wisdom shut it down to "preserve nature"

I live nearby and have spent two days here. It was great. A few private creek side sites and some that are large enough for any size RV. There are trout in the shallow creek as well! The second time I went there, there were some people semi-permanently set up. Furniture outside their RV and their dog ran into my camp at one point (over 100 ft away). 

Unfortunately the third time I went there, I had planned on staying the night but there was a tent that had been abandoned and as I went to clean it up I found tons of syringes. I'm so glad that I hadn't ever spent the night there, knowing that there could be someone using next door. Won't be back, even thought the sites themselves are nice.
