    Firelight Camps

    Such a unique Glamping experience!

Stayed 2 nights for my birthday and loved it. One of the first places to open after COVID shutdown. Normally they have a large gathering area for cooking, games and a bar tent. Even with the restrictions we had a great visit and felt safely distanced from other campers and staff. Great hiking trails because it is attached to Buttermilk Falls State Park. Also close to Cornell University which is a beautiful campus.

I loved sleeping in the huge canvas tent and listening to the rain safe and warm under many quilts. The breakfast baskets the made for us each day were so nice to wake up to. And the bar and fire pits were maintained for you by the staff -  such luxury. I loved it.

    Pinecreek Campground

Beautiful Park, beautiful area could be so much more with a little effort!

Pinecreek is a beautiful park in a great area 10 minutes from downtown Ithica New York and Lake Cayuga. The area has everything you could possibly want or need. Fabulous State Parks with spectacular waterfalls, a farmers market right on the lake front, Cornell University and so much more. That being said it may be the reason the campground doesn't offer any planned activities. They do have a swimming pool and what appears to be a large clubhouse/meeting area that is not or was not used while we were there, nor were any activities publicized. They do have a small arcade but it did not stay open past 8 pm and did not appear to be air-conditioned.

Our campsite was a full hookup with a large grassy area for setting up our outside chairs and picnic table. Although we enjoyed our stay we felt it was a bit overpriced for not having much to offer. They also have a very long list of rules & while they do allow pets there is a list of breed restrictions you need to be aware of before booking a reservation. They also charge for electricity on any stays one week or longer which we had not encountered previously at campgrounds where we have stayed.

Overall we enjoyed our stay but not sure we would stay again.

    Delta Lake State Park Campground

Perfect place to unwind after Boilermaker

We stayed here a while ago while running the Boilermaker, at the time we had outfitted our twelve passenger van with a bed and used the electric hookups for our fans and chargers. We had a fire pit and picnic table as well. It was a beautiful spot on the Delta Reservoir, had plenty of trees and access to the reservoir for wading and swimming. The bath houses were clean and centrally located. Nice little no-frills campsite.

    Southwick Beach State Park Campground

    Not for me

Unfortunately when we arrived at southwick the rangers & staff had all gone home so we were unable to get a map or check in. We went to our camp site & there were people playing very loud music until about 12am, no rangers around the say anything about quiet hours so I had to. Sites are on top of eachother & there’s no boarders inbetween, fine for some people but not for me. After it rained one night our site & others around us were completely flooded. The beach area & bathhouses we’re nice though so that helped the stay not be a complete wash

    Delta Lake State Park Campground

    Delta Lake State Park

Delta Lake State Park sits at the foothills of the Adirondack Park, just outside Rome, New York. Pretty and well-kempt, Delta Lake is a nice option for those looking to stay close to home and within proximity to civilization. You can enjoy the great outdoors, while only being a few miles away from a restaurant or grocery store.

The campground isn‘t the best I’ve experienced, a bit on the crowded side-similar to a woodsy suburb- but this could have been distinctive to Loop A where I stayed. I stayed in site 35 and was intermixed with all the campers and RV’s, so it got a bit noisy. Not that restful, secluded experience I typically go for, but I should have planned further in advance.

However, what the park lacked in terms of its campground, it totally made up for in its beach, swimming and picnic areas! This place was awesome for hosting a birthday party for my niece and relaxing at the beach/ day facilities. They have plenty of picnic tables, charcoal grills, a huge beach and locker rooms. This is really a great place to spend a day with your family!

    Sned Acres Campground

Nice place to stay while exploring the Finger Lakes

We happened upon Sned Acres when Curveball was cancelled and had to make lemons out of lemonade. We were welcomed w a fresh loaf of bread and the owners made sure our group was able to stay together on neighboring sites. Out site was nicely shaded and across from the small lake. The showers were hot and the facilities were clean. It is a family campground w quiet hours after 9pm, so consider that when booking.

    Selkirk Shores State Park Campground

    NYS's best kept secret

Selkirk is quiet and peaceful. Electricity is available on many sites. The beach is good for children and they have a great recreation program for the kids. While we were there they had a reptile exhibit with huge snakes and crocodiles, another day they had tie dyeing t-shirts, other days they had bingo(candy was the prize), exercises, and crafty things to make. Firewood is available on site, with delivery if you buy 1/4 cord and up.

    Delta Lake State Park Campground

    Great spot for the night!!

We had a waterfront hookup ! So pretty especially in the morning with the sunrise. The road to get in was for the most part well taken care of. It was pretty quiet especially after quiet hours everyone was very respectful. It got really windy at night which was nice to keep the bugs away. Friendly neighbors as well. There’s a few steps down to a gravel beach and an expansive view of the delta lake. There were bathrooms in the middle of our loop which was great and easy to walk to and it was very clean. There is a water full station when you enter but there are also a couple water spigots in our loop.

    Delta Lake State Park Campground

    Nice but BUSY

This was our first time here, and we were looking forward to a relaxing visit. The sites were very large and well spaced out, with a beautiful fire ring. The bathrooms were clean. This campground got a 3/5 mainly because quiet hours are not enforced. Unfortunately, people were up blaring radios until approximately 3 am, being roudy. At approximately 2 am, someone decided it would be a good idea to do burnouts with their diesel truck, and went around the camp loop twice, doing just that. Vehicles were driving by the campsites all night long. This is naturally not entirely the campgrounds fault, but it was unfortunate to be misled by the campground rules. On a positive note, the campground is dog friendly, in certain areas, with proof of rabies vaccination, of course. Overall, I would say that this campground is geared more toward the RV and trailer crowd.

Guide to Warners

Central New York's glacial lakes region near Warners features year-round glamping opportunities in diverse terrain. The area sits at approximately 400-500 feet elevation with meromictic lakes formed by retreating glaciers that carved deep valleys and left mineral-rich waters. Winter temperatures often drop below freezing while summer temperatures average 75-85°F with moderate humidity.

What to do

Hiking trails beyond the lakes: Taughannock Falls State Park Campground offers varied hiking terrain. "The gorge hikes are moderate and invigorating," notes Ashley B. The falls trail system accommodates different skill levels while providing educational elements. "Lots of educational posters along the way to keep you informed of what you were seeing and the history about how it was created," reports Steve W.

Military history exploration: At Sampson State Park Campground, campers can learn about regional military significance. "It has a Naval museum with many authentic items from that era," explains Brian O. This former Naval training base contains preserved structures and exhibits. The park "has a very nice military museum," confirms Carrie N., making it suitable for history enthusiasts seeking glamping close to Warners, New York.

Fishing opportunities: Seasonal fishing conditions vary across locations. "Fishing and boat rental if you want to be closer to the water," mentions Kelly J. at Taughannock Falls. During spring and fall, salmon fishing becomes particularly productive. "For the fisherman, it's located on Salmon River and appears to have quite a lot of large salmon this time of year. I was shocked at the size of the fish that were being cleaned," reports Justin F.

What campers like

Private bathroom facilities: Green Lakes State Park Campground offers upscale bathroom options. "The bathrooms have been remodeled and most are private with a toilet, shower and sink which makes this a wonderful family campground," explains Sheri S. These individual units provide extra privacy and convenience for glampers.

Welcome amenities: Sned Acres Campground stands out for its arrival experience. "We were welcomed with a fresh loaf of bread and the owners made sure our group was able to stay together on neighboring sites," Katie K. mentions. The personal touch creates an immediate positive impression. "They were so helpful as we were first time campers. We loved the friendship bread when we arrived," adds Debbie C.

Water recreation variety: Locations offer different water experiences. "The beach area is wide and shallow in most areas," says Barbara S. about Taughannock Falls. Water depths accommodate different comfort levels. "Swimming is available at the large beach. You can rent a kayak and enjoy the beautiful lake," notes Cindy H., highlighting recreational variety for luxury camping near Warners.

What you should know

Shower quality varies: Facility quality differs between parks. "As clean as the bathrooms are, the showers still suck. I'll never understand why parks use the misting shower heads," Chelsea B. explains about Taughannock Falls. She offers a useful tip: "It's best to use the ADA bathrooms because those shower heads are normal and have wands."

Seasonal crowds: Summer brings increased visitors, particularly weekends. "The beach can get busy during the summer however it is a great place to swim, camp, boat and enjoy yourself," warns Meag F. Some locations manage capacity through reservation systems. "Sites book quickly during peak season," notes one reviewer.

Site selection considerations: At Cayuga Lake State Park Campground, location within the campground matters. "Be aware that there is minimal privacy and some sites are close to the highway, so be sure if pick a spot that isn't," advises Meag F. Research site maps beforehand for optimal glamping near Warners experience.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly programming: Yogi Bears Jellystone Park Camp Resort at Mexico specializes in children's activities. "Organized the Halloween activities nicely. Yogi and the characters were very involved," reports Justin F. These structured events provide entertainment regardless of weather. "Crafts, Games, Activities, Playground, Pool, Bouncy pillow, Twice Daily wagon rides with Yogi and Boo Boo, Bike parades," lists Cory W.

Multiple playground options: Green Lakes offers numerous play areas. "Great playgrounds," mentions Sara H. Some facilities maintain separate play zones for different age groups. "Beach also has a great playground for kids that is perfect for play and swim," Kelly J. notes.

Biking-friendly locations: Look for campgrounds with level, paved surfaces. "Paved loops - good for bikes and scooters," Amanda K. highlights at Sampson State Park. This allows children to enjoy independent exploration in safe environments. "It is safe and they can be kids," explains Kelly J. about Bass Lake Resort.

Tips from RVers

Hookup planning: Electrical connection location varies by site. "Check out which side the hookups are on. Some not situated on the right side so you'll need extra long cords," advises Beth at Taughannock Falls. This preparation prevents setup frustration.

Water access points: Junius Ponds offers full-service sites but requires planning. "There is only source for water fill up. This could end up being a very very long wait if you arrive at the same time as other campers," cautions Amanda K. Arrive with filled tanks when possible.

Pull-through availability: For large rigs, specific sites accommodate easier access. "They had a oversized, long pull through available (site 88) that made entering and exiting the site nice and easy," notes Kristine B. at Junius Ponds. Advance reservation of these premium spots is recommended. "We had a large, private plot in drumlin loop," Jay P. mentions about his Lake Bluff experience.
