Directions

Just west of Quemado, NM, take State Rt. 32 south 14.2 miles to Quemado Lake/State Rt. 103 sign. At sign turn left onto Rt. 103 and go 4 miles to where Forest Rt. 13 (gravel) begins. Continue straight on Rt. 13 for 0.8 miles to campground sign. Turn right into campground.

Cramped spots and weird picnic layouts

The lake is beautiful and we had great neighbors, but I would not come here again. Whoever designed the campground had no business doing so. The sites are three RVs crammed into a spot made for two with everyone on top of each other. You also have to walk through each other's picnic spots to get to your picnic table (this could easily be solved if they get someone who knows what they are doing like a designer/planner to rearrange the tables logically). Only a few end spots were decent. If the person on the end spot took up more than their fair share of the spot, you had no outdoor seating in front of your rig. You also have no view in the middle. Although a nice family was next to us, they were a large family of 9 so it was always loud and busy. I also could not get a fishing license since there was no cell or internet service so I could not fish the lake which was my goal. I loved the lake but will find another due to the cramped inefficient layout of the campground.

No day use!

Beautiful campground with plenty of shade. Drive up spots for tents and full RV hookups. During hunting season gets full fast.

If you aren’t camping over night they don’t want you Day using the site :/

Lovely little spot

We stopped here to sleep before heading into the ojo caliente spa and baths. A very nice little spot with clean toilets. Make sure you have TP with you as some stations ran low or were out. Most of our time was spent exploring the baths and trails around ojo itself the following day before moving on to Santa Fe. Take the trails first!! Access to the trail heads are just NW of the spa entrance and there are several to enjoy with varying degree of difficulty. The baths are the real attraction. Mud, iron, cool, etc. A morning of hiking followed by the baths led to the deeper slumber in decades and awoke feeling like a new soul. Do not miss Ojo!
