Horse friendly

Didn’t stay the night. There is a horse camp with corrals. The regular camp side had just a few spots, one area is more of a field with three separate spots. It was clean and seemed ok for an overnight and hiking trails right from camp.

Get away from the crowd

6 miles west of Fort Robinson on Soldier Creek Rd. First come first serve, $15 per night and only 6 spots available if I remember.

This area is used frequently by those riding horseback as there is a horse corral next to a couple of the campsites to the south.

If you like to hike and fish there I'd a trail that goes west from the campsites 1.3 miles to 3 ponds filled with brown trout.

Small beautiful campground

Small, peaceful camping spot. Great birds! Gravel road in is in good shape (about 5 miles). Just before the final climb to the campground there is a creek that needs to be crossed. It is paved but heavy rains might make it difficult. Just before the creek crossing on the east side of the road there is a camping/picnic area that is a possible location.

Once you enter the park there are 2 sites in a large grassy area to the right with picnic tables, fire pits and garbage (recycling too!). We stayed in #1 and it was very pleasant with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Turn left at the T following the horse/motor home signs. There are 3 more sites here. Pump water and very clean pit toilets here. This is the horse area. There is another site down the road to the right with table, fire pit and pit toilet.

Beautiful vast, get ready to explore

Rhis place is wonderful. Not only are there drive in campsites here. There are also plenty and plenty of trails for backcountry primitive camping. Came here with family friends spent 2 nights here and 2 nights back primitive camping. Bathrooms and water here, fire rings.

There are numerous camping options close to here as well as endless amounts of horse or backcountry camping spots. You could also fish, kayak, bike, hike, trail run, star gaze...the options are endless. Very very beautiful here:

Cheers!

Soldier Creek Wilderness

Easy but long trails begin at this campground. Lots of horses on the trails. Very windy campground at night (have a decent tent). Limited facilities with no showers. Clean. Get a map of the area from the ranger station, as this isn’t a very developed park with a lot of trails (hence “wilderness” in the name). Nice place, would return.
