Crystal Lake Cabin provides sweeping views of Crystal Lake in the heart of the Big Snowy Mountains of Central Montana. Located about 20 miles south of Lewistown, the cabin adjoins Crystal Lake Campground, providing conveniences like a picnic area and boat ramp for non-motorized boats. Recreation opportunities abound, including floating, fishing, canoeing and hiking. Access from December 1 through June 15 is by snowshoe, snowmobile, cross country skiing or hiking for 6 miles.
The Ice Caves Trail leads hikers to the ridgetop of the Big Snowy Mountains, where it intersects with the Crystal Cascades Trail Bypass. The Lake Loop Trail trailhead, located at the north end of the Crystal Lake Campground, takes hikers to Grand View Trail Junction and additional ridgetop views. Both the Ice Caves Trail and Grand View Trail may be impacted by winter snow as late as the first part of July. The lake freezes over and ice fishing is possible if the ice is thin enough for fish to survive. In summer months, the lake is stocked with rainbow trout. Kayaking and canoeing is popular.

With a maximum depth of 15 feet, the lake seeps fresh water through a porous limestone bottom. Stopped in for the night. The Ole Mercantile had a cute shop and Conoco gas. People were very friendly and 6 full hookup sites out back. Mostly flat overgrown gravel pad did the job. Wrangler Bar and Cafe in the same parking lot had great food and drinks. Sunny and buggy but as expected in the grasslands.

It was 94 degrees when we pulled into town and electric for AC is absolutely required. For $20 we have a nice level, gravel site with 30/50 amp service. No hookups for water or sewer but that isn't necessary for an overnight stay. Each campsite has a picnic table. We even had a site with a tree that gave a little shade.
This is one of the nicest small town parks I have ever experienced. The play area for children is five star. Rodeo grounds, volleyball net, soccer field are just a short walk from the campsites. The bathrooms are clean and have flushing toilets. Showers are not available.

So beautiful. Found it randomly passing through, just looking for a place to stay for the night. So much wildlife on our drive to it, in the fieds that surround the lake. They only have 26 spots, first come first serve. So we were skeptical at first thinking we might not find a spot. But there was plenty of room. And all of the campsites are right on the water. I would stay there again for sure. No hook ups. only $24 a night for out of state residents. Well worth it to me for the beauty.

No electric but they do have some water spigots spaced throughout. Our AT&T has 2-3 bars of data and running 13 mbps. No designated sites just find a place to park.

Muchwater is a dispersed camping spot just north of St Regis, MT. It is located in the LoLo National Forest. It is nestled along side the Clark Fork River. This area is amazing! The campsites are huge with plenty of room for an rv or 5'er. We had a spot right next to the river which allowed for easy access. Plenty of trails to explore, but beware, this is HEAVY bear country. There are plenty of animal trails too. Please do not leave food out, children or pets unattended. The sunset off the river is magnificent. This area is FCFS, zero cell service, and has no facilities. The only downside is the train that goes by in the night. It will wake you as it feels like an earthquake, but it is definitely worth staying here.

This use to be the most beautiful campgrounds in Montana, until the USFS said the trees were dangerous. They had every tree in the campgrounds cut down and hauled off. Not much privacy now as every camp site can be watched by all the other campers in the other campsites.

Disperse camping area 9210 is a two site camping area, with each site having a picnic table and metal fire ring. This is at the site of the former Indian Hills Campground which was decommissioned a few years ago. All of the campground was removed on the opposite side of the creek. The forest service left the first two sites for disperse camping. You can find the site by turning at the sign for forest road 9210, which goes for only a couple hundred feet to the two camp sites. Both sites are quite nice and sit among very large trees and along side the creek. An information sign is at the site.

Hay Canyon Campground is a free six site (Forest service says 7) campsite in a narrow canyon among large mature trees. This site is broken in to two sections with three sites each. The first section is easy to find, the second is just around the bend on the main road on a road to the right which has three more sites. The campground has picnic tables and metal fire rings at all the sites. A vault toilet serves the campground. No water or trash service so come prepared. The site nearest to the vault toilet is a amazingly large site, three picnic tables a large metal fire ring and the biggest BBQ grill I have ever seen in a campground. Getting this site is just awesome even at the high price of nothing to camp here. The second section of campsites do require a bit of a walk to get to the vault toilet but their is a faint trail short cutting the road walk.
ScoutThis is the only RV park in the area. Sites are big. Park struggles with emptying garbage and dog waste containers in a timely manner. Two employees…one was friendly and accommodating, the manager was absolutely horrible - she treated us and several other campers very poorly.

This little campground just before you enter the Lewis and Clark National Forest has little to offer. The site has three picnic tables and rock fire rings, no out house, no water, no trash service. The area is quite flat with plenty of room to spread out. Two of the picnic tables sit in the shade of very large evergreens, the third is in a grass opening with no mid day shade. The sites are just off the road.

This campground has quite the name if you combine everything together. The Lewis and Clark National Forest - Judith Station Recreation Area - Judith Station Day Use Area - Bill and Ruth Korell Memorial Campground. This is a small cramped campground with 6 sits, five of which are right next to each other so privacy will not be had if others are camping. The campground is just past the Judith Guard Station. All sites have a picnic table and metal fire ring. A water pump can be found between the camping area and the Guard Station. A vault toilet is available next to the guard station. This is a first come first served campground with no trash service. The the road was in excellent condition all the way to the campground.

The Judith Guard cabin is an amazing forest service cabin to stay in. This cabin is an historic two story cabin near the Middle Fork of the Judith River. The cabin pretty much fully stocked, it has propane heat a cook stove, has beds to sleep eight people. Cabin has an old piano as well. Water is available from a hand pump. and a vault toilet is next to the cabin. There is no electricity or trash service some come prepared. You will need to bring a light source. Fire wood is available in the wood shed during the winter months. This cabin is not handicap accessible.

LegendThis is a large park for a small town. The campground mostly caters to the RV set with 20 pull through sites with hook ups. Their are two tent camping sites with tables and fire pits, but room for more if you don't want a table and fire ring. Tent camping is just $12. Two other possible campsite at the opposite side of the park. Very nice new and large playground area plus picnic shelter. Site has a dumpster just for campers and a small log cabin has firewood available. Campground and park are right along the river so be sure to bring that fishing pole. Water is available.
