    Pershing State Park Campground

    Busy but Nice

You can reserve online or with an attendant on site! Spots are small but all shaded. A raccoon ended up tearing through our trash but that was the only negative here! Take the last spot on the loop for extra privacy and to be close to the restrooms.

    Pershing State Park Campground

    A favorite!

As with all things ratings are subjective to the whims and mindset of the reviewer. That having been said this park meets my criteria as a wonderful park. Having stayed many times, the park often has fewer than five campers. No, there are not water or sewer hookups and only 30 amp electric service, but the showers are immaculate and the pads mostly level and hard surfaced, surrounded by a bounty of shade. The pileated and red headed woodpeckers are in abundance and the trails including a long boardwalk make for interesting walks. The setting is a oak/hickory forest. I hate to give this review for fear of others coming for the experience but great things should be shared.

    Pershing State Park Campground

Stay away from Pershing, go to Long Branch instead!

When I stayed at Pershing it felt like an RV park. There were very few tent sites and the bathrooms were not very clean. There is a bad odor coming from the pit toilets like they have not been pumped all summer, the odor permeated through the back part of the campground.

It does have showers and an amphitheater with a few trails and some play ground equipment. On a positive note the grounds were mowed and clean.

Honestly, Long Branch State Park is 40 miles away and is a 5 star park.

    Pershing State Park Campground

    Surprising

Pershing SP was a surprise to us. While the campground was small, (39 sites) the park packs a punch. There features a wet land prairie that offers a diverse scene that you would not expect in Missouri. The park has a dated shower house, playground for the kids, a several little lakes that you can fish in. The hiking is fantastic and I would recommend the boardwalk trail to experience what this park is all about.

    CHECK IT OUT!

Pershing State Park has nice treed sites that are not too close together.

It is a smaller campground. Easy to get walk around. There are some wonderful trails nearby. Our favorite was the Boardwalk trail - 1 1/2 miles of boardwalk through forest. Just beautiful! We also visited nearby LaClede where John J. Pershing's boyhood home is. Very informative and interesting.

    Shoemaker RV Park

    Pretty “rustic”

The showers and bathrooms needed a good cleaning. There were also many barking dogs. On a good note the neighbors (cemetery) were quiet.
