Thanks dyrt for pointing us here. For 30$ a night u get a level gravel drive thru spot electric, sewer, water, and wifi, laundry facilities and bath house very very clean. Very quiet all thru the day and night. Friendly people all round. 5 min to walmart, tractor supply, and many restaurants and gas stations. Spacious lots so you arent right up on each other. Theres rental lots and cabins by the night, week and month. Theres saved spaces for those who just want a pulling over night. Theres big rigs here and small ones. Vintage and brand new. These are friendly people you can sit a chair or 2 outside and not have someone pounding on your door at 7am yelling about a toy or a chair left out all night. This is our face in canton so far. Lovely place with country atmosphere. Pet friendly and spacious. All u need is right here. Thank you ms. Kay and staff.

    LeFleur's Bluff State Park Campground

    Cypress trees and cement pads

Remember to check your email for your gate access code the gentleman ahead of us did not and it took awhile to get in after a long day of driving. The site we had was right next to the lake which had an active fish population, two gators, and several kayaks. The bathhouse is up on stilts/pillings it was clean and made of logs. the electric service looked new and the water pressure was good. We sat outside even in the 98+ heat to see the activity on the lake. This campground is right off of the interstate but feels like you are in the country.

    LeFleur's Bluff State Park Campground

Great location but advance reservation or booking on date u want to stay

We enjoyed our night at LeFleurs Bluff.  We were surrounded by giant RVs but it proved to be a very quiet respite in the middle of the city. Keep your check in code handy as it is necessary info when arriving or departing via the security gate. We hope to return one day and stay longer!

The previous night we tried to reserve a spot here online around 3 or 4pm. As this wasn’t possible on we found another campground in Ridgeland with a more flexible reservation system and a swimming pool! It was more like a gold course on the river than a camp ground but we were pleased to have options.

    Giving the pros and cons

I tent camped on site 2. The BBQ pit was not there on this site. The tent pad was rocky (not sand) so bring a sleeping bad or air mattress if you’re tent camping. Also bring a long extension cord.

Was nice being in front of the water and saw quite a bit of birds. The campground was quiet and relaxing despite being in the middle of the city. The bathrooms were ehhh. Not sure of the men’s, but the women’s only had one useable stall. Three stalls total - on without a door and one was out of order. I didn’t use the showers but definitely weren’t the greatest looking showers I’ve seen at a state park.

I saw a ton of deer, birds, and squirrels and the walking trails were nice and led up to the natural science museum.

The primitive area looked nice for tent camping but basically the same amount of privacy as the spots with electricity and water. Just depends what you’re wanting out of the camping trip.

    Timberlake Campground

    Excellent campground

We camped here Sept. 20-22 while we were in town to volunteer at the Sanderson Farms PGA golf tournament. I was very impressed with the amenities such as the laundry room, pool and bath house. The bath house was very clean and has private showers. The staff was very helpful. It is located right on the Ross Barnett Reservoir so it is a beautiful area. If you need anything, there is a Kroger grocery store right across the street from the campground. I was very satisfied and will stay there again for future tournaments.

    Timberlake Campground

This is a great place for a family looking to camp with hotel like feel l. It literally has everything. This campground wasn't quite my style but we were in the area and needed to spend the night. SA beautiful place none the less. RV sites, tent, monthly rentals. Disc golf course was a huge plus since I love disc golf. It would be great for a family looking to camp but almost have to comfort of hotel like settings!

We arrived late. Interaction with host was pleasant. Cooked dinner and went to bed. Played a game of disc golf in the morning which was great. But the 15$ camp charge we just weren't used to haha.

    LeFleur's Bluff State Park Campground

    Nice little campground

Park is right near Jackson, but you can’t even tell while you’re there. We were originally assigned site 2 after providing the office with the size of our rig, but found that it was much smaller than expected when we arrived. Site 2 would be good for up to a 26 footer, but not much larger. The office folks were very accommodating and we ended up staying at site 10 and it was great! Not too close to any other site, faces the water but not right on the water. Also very close to the facilities but I can’t give a review since we didn’t use them. Thunderstorm came through our second night there, dumped a metric ass ton of rain but all trails and roads were just fine the next morning. The only big con I have for site 10 is that one of the benches for the picnic table was missing/broken. Benches are cement base with a wooden seat and looks like someone not so great at backing their rig may have taken the bench out. Only thing left of it is two cement pillars with some rebar sticking out - bent over and not sharp so it doesn’t pose a safety hazard. We saw a small 5-6 foot gator in the lake on day one and fish are very active. Will definitely be back.

What campers like

Urban convenience with natural setting: Despite proximity to Jackson, LeFleur's Bluff State Park Campground feels remote. "This campground is right off of the interstate but feels like you are in the country," writes Nick W. "We just stayed overnight but it was very nice. Easily accessible from highway but felt like we were not in the middle of the city," adds Courtney B.

Accessibility to supplies: Campgrounds near Ridgeland offer convenience for restocking. "If you need anything, there is a Kroger grocery store right across the street from the campground," Brad G. mentions about Timberlake Campground.

Educational opportunities: The natural surroundings provide learning experiences. "One way the trail leads to a dam with old structures and great fishing opportunities, the other fork leads you to the museum of natural science! My children loved that!" says Leslie E.

What you should know

Gate access procedures: Some campgrounds require advance planning for entry. "Remember to check your email for your gate access code the gentleman ahead of us did not and it took awhile to get in after a long day of driving," advises Nick W.

Weather considerations: Summer heat and humidity affect glamping close to Ridgeland, Mississippi. "There are gnats...and more gnats...and more gnats so be prepared for that," warns Kelli S. at LeFleur's Bluff State Park.

Facility quality varies: Movietown RV Park offers basic accommodations for overnight stays. "Nice campground. Clean place and friendly staff. This is a good stop to stay a night when needed. Not very private and just a camper lot without any nice views, picnic tables, etc," explains April J.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: Research specific sites before booking. "The rv gravel pads were extremely un-level, even after waiting 2 hours, watching them add 7 tractor buckets of gravel the pad was still un-level," cautions Jackie H.

After-hours arrival procedures: Late check-ins are accommodated at some parks. "We got in late so we registered at the closed office door by putting our $27 payment in an envelope in the door slot. How convenient!" shares John N. about Movietown RV Park.

Overnight vs. extended stays: Consider purpose when booking. "This is a good stop to stay a night when needed. Not very private and just a camper lot without any nice views, picnic tables, etc. It worked for us as a quick overnight rest," advises April J.

Hook-up availability: Utility connections are standard at most sites. "For 30$ a night u get a level gravel drive thru spot electric, sewer, water, and wifi, laundry facilities and bath house very very clean," Albert H. explains about Movietown RV Park.
