We camped on the United States side of Crane Lake. Once again you need to be aware of the United States/Canadian borders while in the water. Our headquarters were set up at Handberg's Marina http://www.handbergs.com/
There are 3 back Country campsites located just offset to the Vermilion Gorge Trailhead. These campsites have no fees and are on a first come, first served basis.
The Vermilion Gorge Trailhead hike is a 1 & 1/2 mile trail that featues sheer granite cliffs and waterfalls-it was breathtaking due to the high water levels this year-another note: be very cautious if you bring small children.

The fishing dock is accessible ( I rode my mobility scooter out there with no difficulty) and they have boats available so you can get out on the. lake. We spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub and enjoyed the nightly campfire. We ordered a pizza and it was delivered to to out camper by a nice young man! Paddle boat and kayaks are free for guests as well as many other amenities and activities the children will enjoy. We brought our rv but they also have some beautiful cabins. I just wish we had more time to enjoy all the resort offers. Next time! We also enjoyed the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary. Its only 15 miles away. A wonderful place to view the bears! Don’t miss it! We loved our stay at Aspen. It’s our new vacation destination!
ScoutGreat primitive campsite to hit on the way to Voyaguers National Park. Everyone says stay at Woodenfrog or Ash because it’s close to the park but those parks are very primitive. If you do not have a portable shower or don’t mind using a “hole-on-the-ground” toilet then Pine Acres is a great primitive campsite. There are portable potty’s around the campsite, out houses but they also have full functioning bathrooms and showers. There is a train that goes through across the lake but it stops around 10pm so horns aren’t going off while you’re sleeping. Wonderful staff very friendly. My go-to-place when I come back up here.
RangerThe town of Littlefork offers a 15 site RV/camping park alongside the Little Fork River. Beautiful setting with sites in the open up on the hill and sites along the river in the woods. 50 amp electric and water with no sewer. There is a dump station in town. Sites are $20.00 per night. $100.00 for seven nights and $300.00 for a month. This is a very nice park and well run by Roger!! I would definitely give it five stars if it had sewer at the sites. Highly recommend for the price and the small town feel!!

GuideStayed at two different campsites on angleworm. Both beautiful sites. Next time I stay at this lake I will definitely portage. There are some gorgeous sites that can only be reached my canoe. At one point on the hike (to get to the further sites) you have to walk across a beaver dam. Kind of disruptive to the habitat :/
