    Winton Woods Campground

Love this campground for a weekend rendezvous!

Winton Woods campground has spacious paved RV spaces with full hook-ups, fire ring, and picnic table. They also have cabin and tent camping. The location is located on the lake with access to put in a kayak or canoe. The bathrooms are clean, with private combined shower/dressing stalls. There is a playground for children, and a camp store that sells firewood and supplies. I love the tall pines on the property. They made me feel like I was out west. The campground is also near paved and unpaved trails in the park that surround more of the lake which allows for walking/running/hiking and bicycling, fishing, small craft boating, with small craft boat rentals available at the marina. The park also allows for horseback riding, and a small water park for children in the summer.

    Winton Woods Campground

Great county park in a beautiful setting!

This is a great county park! It has a nice “campground” feel set in a large pine trees and wide sites but has 50-amp full hook-up sites. The campground is set in Winton Woods County Park which is about 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

There are 123 campsites including RV sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Most RV sites are back-in but there are 12 pull-thru sites. There is a myriad of sites here from 50-amp full hook-up with paved pads and patios to 30-amp gravel sites. Sites have fire pits, picnic tables. Campsites in the front section (1F – 25F and 1R – 12R) are big rig-friendly with paved roads wide enough to easily maneuver. All utilities worked accordingly and were well-placed in the site. Our 4G Verizon phone got good reception and we were able to get plenty of antenna television channels. The online reservation system is easy to use and gives you an array of sites/cabins to choose from. Be aware that lots of people use this park on the weekends so it can get quiet busy.

There are lots of amenities at this park. Within walking distance of the campground is Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails. There is a camp store, dump station, laundry, restrooms/shower house, boat/kayak launch, and fishing access. Located in the park is a golf course and horseback riding center.

You are within a few miles of everything … grocery, gas/diesel, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The park is close to I-275 and I-75 making for easy access to major interstates. One place you should not miss is Jungle Jims international grocery and market. This totally eclectic, sprawling "grocery store" has so much to offer. They pride themselves on providing unique foods from all over the world. I could spend hours in this store perusing the isles of which are sectioned off into country and region. There are entire sections on Indian foods, wines, cheeses that you have never heard of, and tanks with live fish ready for the filleting. Also within close proximity is Greaters -one of the country's best ice cream shops (according to Food and Wine). Just down the street is a new person favorite sandwich shop called Izzy's which is famous for their corned beef and delicious potato pancakes.

Loved this park because you have a very nice campsite with 50-amp full hook-up site with lots to do in the area. Our site was level and the roads were easy to navigate in our motorhome. The paved trail around the lake was great for walking/jogging and perfect for launching our kayaks.

We would definitely stay here again.

Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park

Great place for passers through or staycationers.

We have stayed in four sites her during the past couple of month. There are two walk-in sites (10 & 51). Both were pleasant, nearly level, close to amenities, but were under no shade. [Site 10 is presently inhabited by a large family with a sign that says “Camp Host out front. I have not seen them do anything for campers here, and the site is kept in disgraceful cluttered condition.] we next stayed on Lot 13, which backs up to the primitive campground. Quite nice, but beware: this site as well as about half of the other sites at this campground require the use of electrical and water extensions because the connections are on the “wrong” side of the RV, and quite a distance away. For Lot 13, I needed over 50’ of extensions. We then stayed on walk-in lot 51. I was able to “self permit” at the gate…it’s first come first served, no online reservations. Nice, but no shade. Finally, we’re on Lot 47. Eureka! This is my favorite so far. It’s one of the “premium sites” with wooden deck and nicer picnic table for only $2 additional per night. View is phenomenal, and it’s close enough to dumpsters and gatehouse. Notice that I didn’t mention anything about sewer hookups. That’s because there are none. There is a single, very popular dump station near the entrance/exit.
There are several miles of decent trails here, a swimming pool, putt putt golf, a pioneer museum, and a lodge with a good restaurant. The campground is easily accessible and is very kid and pet friendly. Nice sites for tent camping. Facilities are a bit dated, but clean and well maintained. All RV sites are back-in, and some are limited length. (Though some campers have rather cleverly managed to pull through a couple of the sites.) Some are quite unlevel.
Overall good family campground on rich historical site.

    Follow The River RV Resort

    Florence, IN…Nice campground

Park is well maintained. Nice sized pool and very clean pool area. Park has a playground and dog park. Lots of space between campers with cement patio, fire pit and picnic table and lots of trees. We had no issue pulling in our 42’ 5th wheel. We came in after hours and our name with sits number was posted on the door and plenty of maps for the park. Nice layout! You could barely hear a train off in the distance which sounded cozy. Campground is about 30 min from Madison and Ohio River is across the street. Only con- trash cans are like in a whole different country and hard to get too. Would stay again!!!!!

    General Butler State Resort Park

    Great Park to relax

Great little park located just far enough away to get away but close enough to town to run and get something if you forgot it.

Campground is pretty compact but stays pretty quiet. Two well maintained restrooms and shower facilities. Property has a lodge, cabins, pull through, full hook up, and water/power hook up, primitive spots, and day use shelters.

There is a pool and a restaurant are located at the lodge. There are a few hiking trails and a playground for the little ones. There is mini golf canoe and paddle boat rentals available as well.

Free wifi (speed is questionable) but we found 2-3 bars on T-mobile and AT&T.

We frequent this park since it is close to home and the smaller size makes it easier to turn the kids loose. They have enough to enjoy but not so much where we have to be active every second.

    Three Springs Campground

Final approach/exit to the park is very steep. Beautiful sites but fairly close together. Gravelled roads and pads surrounded by forest with three small streams cutting through. Sites are not particularly level. Bathrooms are clean and the hosts are attentive. The only trash bin is near the office by the out of service pool.

Winton Woods Campground Hamilton County Park

    Peaceful and not busy

I stayed at an electric only spot nestled in the trees by the lake. I was the only RV in this section all week and it was so peaceful and private. There is a fire ring, a picnic table and an oversized gravel spot with plenty of trees to hang my hammock from. The sounds of nature serenaded me throughout the week. The bathrooms were clean and dumping and getting water was easy.

    Amazing campground!

Loving our stay here at Winton Woods! Got a site right near the playground. Spacious sites, shade, a lake, bike paths, boat rentals. You have everything a nature lover could want! Would love to see more full hookups up sites. Upgrade the laundry room/showers. There is no bathhouse in the back where the electric only sites are. WiFi has been surprisingly excellent! 10/10 recommend!

Guide to Falmouth

Cabin camping near Falmouth, Kentucky offers diverse lodging options within a short drive to the Ohio River. Located in the rolling hills of northern Kentucky at approximately 800 feet elevation, the area features abundant hardwood forests and limestone creek beds. Winter cabin rentals typically require reservations at least 2-3 weeks in advance, with most sites experiencing a 15-20 degree temperature drop after sunset.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Three Springs Campground provides access to a small fishing pond. "We stayed one night on our way south from Indy. Owners are very nice and very helpful with tips and suggestions for the RV, and local eateries," notes a visitor to Three Springs Campground.

Historic exploration: Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park offers educational opportunities about salt production and frontier history. As one camper mentioned, "We enjoyed the history at this state park. I enjoyed learning about the salt making process and also Daniel Boone. They had a lovely museum for a small fee. They even have a fort on the property that we found on one of our hikes."

Creek activities: At Three Springs Campground, families can find simple water activities for children. "They have a few hiking trails and a creek the kids caught crawfish in," explains a camper, highlighting natural entertainment options that don't require additional equipment.

What campers like

Convenient location: Many cabin campers appreciate Northern Kentucky RV Park for its accessibility. "We only stayed one night and came in after the office closed, but we had a great experience in the time that we were there. The grounds are neat and taken care of and have plenty of shade," reports one visitor.

Clean facilities: Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park maintains well-kept shower houses. A camper noted, "Never saw the host in the 3 days we stayed but the shower house was clean and well kept." This is especially important for cabin campers who may need to use shared facilities.

Seasonal swimming: Some parks offer swimming access during summer months. "The pool and shop closed at 6pm," mentioned one visitor to Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, indicating that timing matters when planning water activities during hot weather months.

What you should know

Cabin size limitations: Most cabins near Falmouth accommodate 4-6 people comfortably. At Stonelick State Park Campground, "This is a great park in southern Ohio, easy to reach, 20 minutes off the interstate 275. There are a number of good sites, but some with a significant slope that leveling would be an issue."

Seasonal restrictions: Some facilities close during winter or have limited hours. "The park does have a large number of seasonal tenants however; they have reserved a number of great sites, even some on the river front, for nightly RVers," explains a visitor about local availability patterns.

Noise considerations: Some parks experience traffic noise. At Northern Kentucky RV Park, a camper noted, "We only stayed one night on our way to pigeon forge, tn. It was neat and orderly but right on I-75 and next to RR tracks," which may affect light sleepers choosing cabin accommodations.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: General Butler State Resort Park provides play areas for children. "Playground equipment looked new and safe, workers were friendly, and bathrooms were clean," reports a visitor, noting the well-maintained facilities.

Water activities: Consider parks with swimming options during summer. "There is a pool available for free to any of the campers," mentions a General Butler visitor, highlighting a budget-friendly recreation option for families with children.

Space between sites: Some cabins offer more privacy than others. "We were close to the primitive spots and luckily no one was in them or it would have been pretty crowded," notes a Blue Licks Battlefield visitor, suggesting checking site maps when making reservations.

Tips from RVers

Parking considerations: Winton Woods Campground provides varying site types. "Sites are pretty level, although we did have to unhook to keep truck from sticking out into road. Since the park wasn't full, the owners let us park our truck in site next to us. We stayed in our 38' travel trailer with our Ford F250 truck," shares an RVer who visited Three Springs Campground.

Hookup variations: Different parks offer different levels of services. "It is a very nice campground with hood clean sites. Several pull throughs available," explains a visitor to Follow The River RV Resort, important information for those bringing larger vehicles.

Year-round access: Some parks maintain winter operations. "When we booked, no one thought to question if we could swim in the lake," notes a Winton Woods visitor, highlighting the importance of checking seasonal amenities when making off-season reservations.
