Great campsite for traditional camping

The campsites are off to thereselfs and make for great camping with privacy. The drive there is a little long and no cell service for the most part but isn't that what camping is about anyway.

Moto Camping

Review from the perspective of a motorcycle traveler tent camping. Tent sites are along a stream on Racoon side. Got surprised by a bear while gathering firewood nearby. Clean and well maintained although it was a  sleepless night because of a group of drunk locals.

Great location to camp and explore

The campgrounds were clean and well maintained, the vault toilets were clean and stocked. Water spigots were available at the campground, but no dump station or trash cans. So be prepared to pack your shit out. The sites are spread out well and not overcrowded. There are two separate areas, the first loop on the right side of the road is called deer loop. Down the road, is Racoon loop which is on the left side of the road. I would rate these as primitive sites.

Wonderful, peaceful

No electric..but that could have changed, haven't been in a while. Great for kayaking, fishing, wading, hiking, sightseeing(areas close by to check out), also there are some swimming holes..just have to find them. can camp right by the creek and across the road is a few more spots. Get there early, because it is primitive, just to get a spot. Also, close by is a horse camp...actually a left turn prior to great meadows. Have fun.there is water and an enclosed bathroom. No showers

SiteDon't remember, there are no numbers. Area to the left, best spot 1st on th

Winter camping in Daniel Boone National Forest

Free, no reservations, likely fills up most days in the summer. Parts of this campground are open all year, though you need to bring your own water while there’s a chance of frost. There aren’t too many sites, all are green and grassy, forested by nice big trees and green, some along a small creek. A nice little extra surprise was the horseshoe pits at the campground.

fall camping trip

Just stayed here for the night during a trip to check out various parts of Daniel Boone National Forest. Stayed in the raccoon loop (there was a choice of 2 loops) but we opted for the one near a stream. The campgrounds are both small, but have nice space around the sites and some seclusion due to the forest. We were told that getting a spot is difficult during the busy summer because this is first come, first serve but in the fall we seemed to have good luck getting a nice site, though the other sites did fill in quickly. Site had great grassy area to set up a tent. The sites were nothing fancy, but we enjoyed our night here.
