Best Cabin Camping near Kirwin, KS

Webster State Park offers cabin accommodations at several locations, including the Cabins Area and near Lakeview Campground. These cabins provide electric hookups with both 30-amp and 50-amp service options, and most include water hookups as well. "Nice lake and open country! Big hunting fields to run dogs in. Good WiFi, cell service and water hooks ups in March!" Most park cabins feature picnic tables outside and fire rings for evening campfires. Bathroom facilities with showers are accessible nearby, though not necessarily attached to each cabin. The campgrounds maintain toilet facilities throughout the property for cabin guests.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Prairie Dog State Park provides cabin rentals with varying amenities, some suitable for families looking for more space. Patterson Harbor Marina also offers cabin accommodations, though with fewer amenities than those at Webster or Prairie Dog State Parks. Most cabins are reservable in advance, which is recommended during peak seasons. Pet policies vary by location, with several parks permitting dogs in designated cabin areas. A recent review noted, "We stayed in a primitive site. The sites were spacious and had a wonderful shelter!"

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities vary significantly between locations—some cabins offer only basic outdoor cooking options while others may have more complete setups. Several campgrounds, including Webster State Park, have on-site markets where basic provisions can be purchased. Firewood is available at select locations like Heartland Farm Stays and Patterson Harbor Marina, but not at all cabin sites. Trash disposal services are limited, so cabin guests should plan to pack out what they bring in or locate designated disposal areas within the parks.

Lakeview Campground — Webster State Park

    Lakeside camping

Lake View Campground is a small campground right along the shore of the Webster Reservoir.  This campground has ten sites with water and electrical hook ups, plus an additional 7 or 8 primitive sites.  A couple of the primitive sites are along the shore, but most are at the edge of a large grass area.  Their is an vault toilet at the entrance to the campground, a bit of a walk from the primitive campsites.  A large shelter is also available at the site.  A shower house is located at a day use area just past the campground as well as an archery range just past that.  All sites have picnic tables and metal fire rings

Mushroom Campground — Webster State Park

    Camp like a smurf

Feel like you're camping like a smurf, almost.  Mushroom camping area are a series of campsites which have a mushroom like shelter over each sites picnic tables (except for one that has a different shaped structure)  Each covered area sits on a concrete pad and has two picnic tables.  Site also has a metal fire ring.  The spots all have plenty of grass around them for your tents.  These sites are listed as primitive so cost only $12.75 for the night.  Their is a vault toilet in the area, but it is only really conveniently located near two of the sites.  These sites are spaced far apart from each other.  No water available in the camping area, but you can get it and other services from some of the other campgrounds in the area.  Most of the sites sit out in the open.  The site I stayed at did have two trees which I was able to use for my hammock.

Mushroom Campground — Webster State Park

    Quiet lake side

Stayed in a tent sight on a hill over looking the lake. Had a fire pit, picnic tables, and small pavilion. Watched a full moon rise over the lake with a slight breeze. Quiet and peaceful. Left the next morning. Would stay again as an overnight on a road trip. I could see it being a cool spot to spend a weekend with a boat. Only downside was the proximity to the road with the occasional vehicle going by quite late at night.

    Patterson Harbor Marina

    Nice beaches and nice people

We’ve been camping at Patterson Harbor for the past 15 years off and on. It is a nice campground with 80 sites and also has cabins you can buy or rent. Camping is on a first come, first serve basis. The sites include electric and water and are on gravel sites. The beaches are nice and there is a marina which has bait, some food and supplies. There’s even a little bar. Patterson closes for the winter. You can drive your golf cart around(many other campgrounds don’t allow). Everyone is so nice and helpful. Define you check out if you are in the area.

Lakeview Campground — Webster State Park

    Summer Water Camping

8 miles outside of Stockton, KS. This state park was great for us visiting family in town. Quiet at night. Spread out sites. Lake access for fishing and water recreation. Water is low, but it is still possible to put in a boat. Water and Electric at site. 30A at our site. Old Marina Campground next to the Coyote Shelter and trail. Only 3 sites at this section, nice and secluded.

Prairie Dog Campground — Prairie Dog State Park

    Ok, not too exciting

Super flat landscape, very short walking trail, main attraction is fishing, less wildlife than I expected. Quite a few campsites to choose from, some with more trees than others. We chose a primitive one. Also some new modern cabins. Ok place to stop over, I wouldn’t return but others seemed happy with it. And yes, you will definitely see prairie dogs :)

Prairie Dog Campground — Prairie Dog State Park

    A Pure Gem

Camping for anyone arriving at anytime. Don’t expect the best when arriving late, but most of you will have reservations, right? Then you will have the best. (Pause; Coyotes calling) this place has everything for any State Park you could ask. Expansive open grasslands a lake full of fish and fowl. Turkeys and whitetail deer and the coyotes call in the distance. A photographer could get lost in the pure wilderness available in the prairie. I’ve visited here during every season. The heat and bugs of mid July to the frozen autumn morings, always beautiful and teaming with wildlife. A great place to stay no matter your style. Just please be quiet, Mother Nature is listening.
