River and Highway

Similar to Salmon River Campground this campground has sites on either side of the highway. Currently the river side is closed for revegetation, erosion control, and habitat restoration. The other side is open.

Dusty gravel roads will loop you through the campground. The sites themselves are dirt and gravel with mostly level parking areas and each site varies in length. We would fit in many of them in our 26' Class C but larger rigs may have a problem.

Each site has fire pit and picnic table. There are pit toilets and hand pump water available as well. There is a dumpster for trash but no recycling. There are no bear boxes so store food appropriately as bears are common in this area.

What amenities are available at Riverside Campground in Stanley, Idaho?

Riverside Campground offers basic amenities typical of a forest service campground. The campground has toilets available for campers. Sites are set up in a loop formation connected by dusty gravel roads. Currently, the riverside portion of the campground is closed for revegetation, erosion control, and habitat restoration efforts, while the opposite side remains open for camping. The campground maintains a rustic feel, so campers should plan to bring their own water and other necessities as hookups are not available.

What is the elevation of Riverside Campground in Stanley, Idaho?

Riverside Campground in Stanley, Idaho sits at approximately 6,114 feet elevation. This high-altitude location contributes to the area's distinct mountain climate with cool evenings even during summer months. Campers should prepare for typical high-elevation conditions, including temperature fluctuations between day and night, possible afternoon thunderstorms in summer, and thinner air that may affect those sensitive to altitude.
