Wide Open & Road Noise

Another campground close to Hwy 75. This campground has paved drive throughout the campground with paved parking pads at the sites. There is also a groomed area at each site for tents, which were nice and flat and clean. There is a host on site at this campground.

Hand pump water, toilets, and dumpsters for trash though no recycling. The host had firewood for sale ($10) but fire restrictions are in effect so no fires at this time. Sites were level and some with shade but over all lots of sun. This place had a very open layout.

Quite a few campers were there compared to the others we’ve stopped at along highway 75 through Sawtooth National Forest along the Salmon River. Each site had the standard picnic table, and fire pit but as mentioned above there also had tent pads. Area was clean and appeared well maintained. This campground is nice and spread out but being right on the highway with minimal trees to block some noise the road noise was constant, at least during midday/midweek.

$18/night

Zero cell reception ATT, Verizon or TMobile

On the Salmon River with videos

You can't get much closer to the Salmon River than this. Camping, fishing, hiking, rafting, kayaking and natural hot springs close by, all within the stunning Sawtooth Mountains! Stanley, Id is about 6 miles south where you can find everything you need. If you look at the attached videos, you will see what the campground looks like including each individual site. When you are arrive, just grab any vacant site and the camp host will catch up with you before dark. One of the most beautiful areas we have been to and the price is right at $18 a night or $9 with America the Beautiful pass.

One of our favorite spots

We stayed here in August of 2020. At first we were worried since it was right off the busy highway but it was an awesome place to stay for a few days.  We had two separate campsites and they were perfectly located for going back and fourth. You can fish or swim in the river on those warm days and it is close enough to Stanley if you need to resupply. The campground is also close to Yankee Fork. The camp host was friendly and made sure we were taken care of. I highly recommend this campground.

Very rugged

This site was right along a river that was very beautiful but the campground was on higher ground so most people walked down to the entrance where you could get to the river or some people stood on the bridge to fish. Not all spots have trees, so be careful if you have pets. They did have three campsites for people with horses to camp. Not our cup of tea but if you are low maintenance or bring it all with you then this may be your pace. No other amenities. Right up the road from Stanley.

Down on the River

I didn’t camp at this campground but spent a day here on the river. It’s a bit more removed from the road compared to some of the other campgrounds on this road. The river is beautiful, there was a nearby osprey nest with two chicks.

Right on the water

Blacktop drive and parking pads with a few pull through sites. You can fish from your camp site. No hookups but water is available. Plenty of space between sites. Fire rings and picnic tables were provided. Firewood was for sale. Bring your bug spray for late afternoon and evening. We needed it in early July.
