Best RV Parks & Resorts near Murphy Hot Springs, ID

Several RV parks near Murphy Hot Springs accommodate travelers seeking overnight stays and longer visits. Saguaro RV Park at Cactus Petes Resort Casino provides full hookups with water, sewer, and 30-amp electric connections year-round. Sites are tightly arranged in a parking-lot style configuration with pull-through options. Nat-Soo-Pah Hot Springs & RV Park operates seasonally from May through early September, offering RV sites with water, electric, and sewer hookups. For those seeking a more rustic setting, Lud Drexler Park provides water hookups and sanitary dump facilities with concrete pads under shade structures. Most RV parks in this region have limited cell coverage, particularly at more remote locations. The drive to Murphy Hot Springs involves travel on rural highways and secondary roads that may narrow significantly. Between late fall and spring, weather conditions can affect accessibility to some parks, particularly those at higher elevations. Dump stations are available at Nat-Soo-Pah and Lud Drexler, though water may be turned off during winter months. Pet policies vary across properties, with most allowing pets but imposing restrictions near amenities. Reservation systems differ significantly - casino-adjacent parks like Saguaro typically accommodate drop-ins, while busier seasonal parks often fill completely during summer weekends and holiday periods.

    Wild Horse State Recreation Area

    Wildhorse State Recreation Area

Very clean sites, I watched the camp host pull in right after someone left and make sure it was clean and the sand was raked for the next guest. Camp host stopped and talked with us, very friendly, ready to share his fishing tips. Clean bathrooms with sinks and the bathroom on the southern loop had showers! Water hydrants everywhere, with great tasting water. Easy pull through spots. Nice tables with shelter over it, fire ring, nice sandy camp area and trees planted to shade the each site. Popular campground, stayed full and people do like their generators which we did here a lot of. Good cell service with AT&T. No WiFi. Trash dumpster at the ranger station. Boat ramp with ample parking. Sanitary dumps with water if you need to refill your fresh tank or to use the spray in the black tank.

    Lud Drexler Park

    Gorgeous views

Of Salmon Creek Reservior. Very well maintained campground with rain/sun shelters, fire pits, water, tables on paved pads as well as some more primitive looking sites. It's high desert, so not loads of privacy but sites are well spaced. Great boat launch and swim area. We came in May and weather went from 90 to 55 in a day, with wind. Cell and 4G service which seemed weird.

Very nice place in May, but may get super busy with water sports in summer . I'm concerned that it could be generator city when larger RVs roll in. Giving it 2 stars because the wind was viciously cold and hammered us the entire time. If that is the usual, hard for minimalist campers, fine for big rigs.

    Wild Horse State Recreation Area

No wild horses, but a great campground!

This Nevada State Recreation Area is in a beautiful very remote location, along the Wild Horse reservoir. There are two camping areas with about a dozen sites in each. Each site has a nice picnic table, rain / sunshade, and fire ring...and lots of sun for the solar panel. The bathroom facilities are the fanciest we've ever seen for $15 per night. Can you say, "Custom tiled shower?" Someone did a really nice job. And, the campground is kept emaculate.

Just below the campground is a boat ramp and parking lot and swimming beach area. The lake is great for boating, fishing and paddling. The winds we experienced would make it a great lake for sailing, and sailboarding. There are numerous hikes along forest roads in the area that will get you up into the mountains (and even up to an old gold mine), but not alot of "trail hikes." Mountain biking is a great option along these backroads.

The nearest town with services is Owyhee, gas and small grocery store, about 35 miles to the north. There was no cell service in the campground, but we found it on our hike up the mountain!

    Balanced Rock County Park

    Free and Pretty

The place is beautiful and you have a hiking trail through the canyon and the balance rock is 5 min by car. Thegood: It’s free, has water, trash cans, and bathroom pits, roofed picnic tables, fire grills, fire rings. Can stay 7 days, tent on grass only Thursday through Sunday (sprinkles during the week), camp near the river, kayak, fishing... The bad: limited space, flies are something out of this world (seriously, they won’t let you do anything outside), very windy because of the canyon walls, no service not even with boosters, fish tiny and bony.

    Balanced Rock Campground

Ohmygoodness. This place is THE BEST. I couldn’t believe we found it in the middle of nowhere. Camping along both sides of road beside river inside small canyon. Walking distance to Balanced Rock. Lots of natural features. Kayakers paddle up and then float back down. Lots of fishing but little catching. Definitely worth the drive. No cell signal In canyon though.

Saguaro RV Park at Cactus Petes Resort Casino

Nice place to stop for the night or 2.

There are two lots (see picture). lot 1 is parking lot with hook ups. Lot 2 where we stayed, had full hook ups, though fresh water was still off from winter season. All appear to be pull thru, most with double capacity, 2 hook ups per pull thru, had nice grass and trees. Great place to spend the night. There is a dump station and fresh water far east side of lot 2.

    Balanced Rock County Park

    Nice!

This was a fine campground, I got there when it was dark and was the only person there on a Wednesday night in January. The roads to get there were icy and the road down to the campground isn’t plowed, so I’d say you need 4wd in winter.

The Balanced Rock pullout was nearby and cool to see, I also saw a herd of elk there early in the morning.

Saguaro RV Park at Cactus Petes Resort Casino

    Inexpensive, adequate, nice bonus

A good stop in an area otherwise lacking in campgrounds. Layout of all pull-through sites. Relatively quiet in the second lot in the back of the casino, although we had to change site because of a barking dog in a neighboring house. The bonus is free access to the casino's very nice pool! Showers snd toilets are ok.

    North Wildhorse Campground

    Oh my stars!

This place is incredible and I’m so happy it’s reopened since the devastating Sugarloaf Fire some years back. Thank you BLM for cleaning up and repairing this special spot.

To get here, you literally just get off the highway in Elko and drive 70 (!) miles north. The end, it’s right there on the side of the road. No cities for miles around. You can imagine the dark sky and how awe inspiring it is in the middle of the night.

It’s a bit tricky to access in the winter, but one of the best places in the state to try your hand at ice fishing. The surrounding countryside is also great for snowmobiling! In the summer, you are free to do anything from fishing to canoeing to paddle boarding to water skiing.

Sites are basic but serviceable - about 20 sites with tables and fire rings. Plenty of trees to provide shade. There are vault toilets available and hand pumped water but no RV hookups. Super cheap at only $6 a night.
