Indian Springs has a small store at the visitor center offering ice, firewood, and limited supplies. The town of Flovilla is immediately outside the park entrance with additional services including a Dollar General approximately five minutes away. A visitor mentioned, "There is also the little town of Indian Springs which has some interesting stores."

Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground

    Stunning Cabin!

Nicest state park cabin I’ve never stayed in! The furnishings were beautiful and the screened porch was amazing. I really appreciated that the bedding and towels were plush and extremely comfortable-very unlike most state parks or other rental cabins. It was also impeccably clean, AND the bathrooms had handcrafted local soaps!

As a side note, my husband is a wheelchair user and this was the most accessible vacation rental we’ve ever encountered (and we travel a lot). The picnic table had a seat cutout, the fire pit and grill were on a level surface, and the kitchen sink was roll under! 10/10 thank you HLC for the thoughtful attention to accessibility.

    Sprewell Bluff Park

    Cabins are simple but nice

Cabins have great views with a back porch over the bluffs (with a nice sunset vantage point). Bunk beds are fine (mattresses not that great) and plenty of space inside with extras that make them really convenient (fridge, microwave, good heating). There’s about a 6-mile loop trail overlooking the river that will provide a good workout. The recreation area down by the river is expansive enough for folks to spread out. Here in March it’s too chilly for swimming, but would likely be a nice escape in the summer. Would definitely return.

    Stone Mountain Park Campground

    Extraordinary Attractions

Stone Mountain hardly needs another glowing review, but it is a pleasure to stay there. First, everything is contained and available. The views of the lake, and, yes, the mountain are gorgeous. There is a nice spacious check-in store. Your trash is picked up constantly from your site. Each site has a deck, a grill with a propane tank already attached, a picnic table, and a fire pit, electric and sewer hook ups. The sites are close together, but the decks are pretty private. If you bike, hike, run or like trails, boating and fishing, all are right there. It helps to have a car/truck, as the place is pretty immense, but my neighbors had a Class C and were throughly enjoying mountain biking to everything. Another neighbor with a gorgeous Class A was driving his towed truck to a neighboring Petco. There is everything. Deer roam in the morning and at night, and if golf is your sport of choice, Stone Mountain has a highly rated public course. The staff is very friendly. I liked the purple area near the playground and pool. The sites seemed a little more private. It’s not cheap, and I don’t know what discounts might be available. But, if you’re in or around Atlanta, this is the place to go. It will NOT disappoint.

    Sprewell Bluff Park

    Small campground but pretty

Sprewell Bluff Park is about 50 miles south of Atlanta on the Flint River. The campground is small, tent & RV sites starting at $35/night with 30/50 amp electric, water, fire ring, and picnic tables. Most are back in. There is a showroom/bathroom. There are also cabins. The trading post has a variety of camping items and souvenirs. This is primarily a a fisherman’s Park. There is some canoeing and hiking, and a new playground. A boat ramp was added recently. It is somewhat difficult to get here.

    Indian Springs

    Nice campground - Site 19

1st time for us to Indian Springs. Very clean and well maintained. Site 19 was on a less populated loop and a long stretch of woods on the "driver" side thus no neighbors.  Site was very easy to back into.

We stayed in March, so when the leaves are off the trees, you can see the lake. Kinda doubtful you would during the summer. Gray water dump is very close. Bathhouse was about a 2 minute walk, but didn't use it.

I'd stay on this section again, but maybe across the street. or preferably down by the water.  There's a short drop off behind the fence by the fire ring, that the dog keeps trying to go down and getting stuck - imagine little ones may love that area.

The town of Flovilla is right outside the gates, with  some shops and a nice restaurant. Dollar General is 5 mins away. Dauset Trails Nature Preserve is about 15 minutes away, but note pets aren't allowed. High Falls State park is about 15 minutes away with good hiking trails. Plus boat, and paddle board rentals.

Guide to Flovilla

Indian Springs State Park offers several cabin accommodations near Flovilla. The cabins are situated in a woodland environment at elevations between 650-700 feet, providing cooler temperatures than the surrounding lowlands. During summer months, overnight temperatures typically range from 65-75°F while daytime temperatures can reach into the 90s, making cabin camping a more comfortable option for those seeking shelter from both heat and occasional thunderstorms.

What to do

Paddle the lake: Rent kayaks at Indian Springs State Park Campground for exploring the small lake. "We rented kayaks and rode bikes all weekend! There are many nooks to explore in this lake," notes one visitor who appreciated the water activities.

Explore hiking trails: The park features several walking paths through wooded terrain. A camper at Stone Mountain Park Campground mentioned similar trail experiences: "We found a trial behind our campsite that lead down to the lake. We could have put our Paddle board & kayad in there but decided to put in at the boat ramp instead."

Visit historical sites: Walk to the old graveyard dating back to the early 1800s near the campground. "On the return walk to the campground we explored an old graveyard that was neat. It went back to early 1800's," shared a visitor describing nearby historical attractions.

What campers like

Peaceful wooded settings: Many cabins at Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground offer similar woodland privacy. "The campground is not cramped at all and most of the sites are spread apart to provide privacy!" remarked one reviewer who appreciated the spacious layout.

Wildlife viewing: Cabin areas provide opportunities to spot local wildlife. "Deer walking through the site. Good water views and hiking," noted a camper describing their experience at a nearby park location.

Clean facilities: Scenic Mountain RV Park receives similar praise for maintenance: "Clean and beautifully maintained facilities and grounds." Their cabin options include "level sites, fire pits and a nice club house."

What you should know

Seasonal water conditions: Lake water quality varies throughout the year. "A lot of Parrot feather weed is in the lake and no swimming is allowed," one visitor noted about the water at Indian Springs.

Reservation requirements: Book cabins well in advance, especially for peak seasons. "The comfort stations have restrooms/showers, as well as two family restroom/shower facilities. The comfort stations also feature vending machines (drinks) and a laundry facility!"

Mineral springs access: The historic mineral springs house remains open for visitors. "The Creek Nation used them for centuries to heal their sick. The water from the springs has a strong sulfur smell and taste. I would not recommend drinking it, but there were people filling plastic bottles of the stuff to take home."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Most family-friendly cabin areas include play equipment for children. At Forsyth KOA, "They have a small dog park which is a bonus. Staff was friendly and helpful," making it suitable for families with both children and pets.

Consider food delivery options: Some cabin locations offer food service. "Pulled in for an overnight on a road trip. Got in around 7:00 and was offered food from a little hot kitchen on site which was a great convenience after being in the road."

Look for cabin amenities: Different cabin options provide varying levels of comfort. "Sorta like a nice parking lot with grass and trees. We stayed in January so the weather was on the chill side. I did not notice a lot of trees though for shade when the temperature does rise."

Tips from RVers

Check electronic reliability: Power stability varies across cabin and RV sites. "Full hookup are adequate with nice bath houses. Wifi was about 40% until the park filled up then nothing. Cable tv reception screen quality was poor."

Consider shower facilities: Bathhouse quality differs between locations. "Bathrooms are rustic, not well kept, not much hot water. Overall park is not well kept, but great sites, small beach area, and nice lake area."

Navigating with larger vehicles: Access roads can be challenging for larger units. "Be careful and follow the Campground signs and not your GPS because you might come in a different way and have to navigate an overpass that, for done rigs, is too short!"
