The Florida Forest Service will close all campgrounds and recreation areas on State Forests if the county where the State Forest is located is placed under a Tropical Storm or Hurricane WARNING by the National Weather Service. Reservations will be automatically refunded for closures related to tropical weather.

Description

Proof of and/or copy of current hunting license or management stamp is required to purchase a hunt camp permit. Valid Driver’s license must also be shown and/or copy provided with payment.

When camping, hunters must purchase a hunt camp permit or pay the overnight fee at designated overnight camping areas.

No more than two (2) Hunt Camp Sites, with only one (1) campsite per Reservation, will be issued annually per season to an individual and/or single household/address. Maximum of twenty-five (25) persons and five (5) camping units or ten (10) tents per site in Richloam Hunt Camps.

Only tents, trailers, self-propelled camping vehicles or temporary shelters are to be used for camping and must stay within the boundary lines designating the campsite. Any such structure must be removed by the ending date identified on the permit. Persons that do not remove camping equipment, trailers, or temporary structures by this ending date will be charged the current overnight primitive hunt camp site rate per day until the site has been vacated. Permit holders that fail to comply by the deadline of written notice from the Forestry Service may be refused the opportunity to renew their site the following year.

Drilling or installation of water wells is prohibited.

All vehicles must display a valid license tag and be operated by a licensed driver. Vehicles are restricted to named and numbered roads only, unless otherwise posted. Vehicles are not allowed on closed roads; hiking, horse, or bicycle trails; or cross-country.

All requests for AMP/SUV Permits for transportation for those who are physically disabled will be processed through the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC). Cutting, marring, or defacing of live trees is prohibited. · The discharge of guns is prohibited on, from or across any campsite.

Generators must be shut down between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am.

Hunt camp permits are valid from beginning to ending dates as shown on each Hunt Camp Reservation. ·

Contact the Withlacoochee Visitor Center (WVC) for additional information. Hunt camps may be closed at any time due to adverse conditions. Hunt camps with restroom facilities that don't have running water (such as portable toilets and vault toilets) may not be stocked with hand hygiene products. Visitors should bring their own hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol for use in these facilities. · Port-a-lets will be placed during Hunting Season dates only, not Hunt Camp dates. You may secure and pay for your own Port-a-let. · Maintenance and mowing of hunt camp sites are the responsibility of the permitted hunt camp holder. Assistance may be available in hunt camps where a host has been assigned. · Hunt Camp Site Boundaries have been defined. You are not allowed to mow or use space beyond these boundaries. Any violation of this is subject to permit cancellation. · Richloam WMA Only: Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited except in designated areas per s. 589.011(4) FS, and 5I-4.005(17) FAC. Alcohol is allowed in the hunt camps of Richloam and Citrus WMAs, but only for permitted campers and their guests. You can be issued a citation by FWC if you are found to be consuming alcohol outside of the camps.

From I-75 Take exit 301 to merge onto FL-50/US98/Cortez Blvd head east.from the Interstate approximately 5.48 miles and turn south on CR-575 (Burwell Road) which is on the south side of SR-50. You will travel south on CR-575 approximately 2.07 miles and turn east on Lacoochee Clay Sink Road and go east approximately 4.36 miles and turn right heading south on Megs Hole Road.
