Beautiful Park

Campground is beautiful with a lot of wildlife. Clean amenities, great staff and rangers. The springs are gorgeous but the loud music is uncalled for. You’d think people would have more respect for others but obviously not. Rangers need to enforce a policy.

Paddle to sites

They have 3 paddle to sites on rock springs run and 1 on the wekiva river. All are pretty cool , big buck is the only one not directly on the water. All have bear box, fire pit and a bench or two. All but otter has hammock posts. Best is to launch upstream at kings landing and paddle down stream to them. When you take out keep going downstream to their pick up point and then you never paddle against current with gear. Also sucks to paddle up to them from the park because you have to pack out your own firewood since you can't burm ground fall. Very primitive and secluded.

So much to do!

Wekiwa was an amazing place to camp and spend our weekend. The park offers hiking, biking, day swimming, a food grill, a canoe/kayak launch and rental, plus tons of wildlife! The campground was quiet and the restrooms fairly clean. However, a weekday is best to visit the spring and river. On the weekend there were tons of people in the park. We had a wonderful 3 days here.

Very rustic and lots of forest

There is not a shower area - so use your RV - however, the area is very nice a quiet and you would not know that there is a city less than 5 minutes/miles away. The springs are great, but really, really cold. However, they have great canoeing and places to lay-out on the 'grassy- area'. Bring lots of blankets and towels to lay down and you do not even have to worry about them being taken

Camped many times here.

Has spacious sites, most have full hook-ups. Also you have access to the park springs. They also have a 50 percent FL Sr. Cit. discount!

Beautiful, well maintained, quiet. Rangers are helpful and friendly.

I stayed at the youth camp for a 10-day training seminar in January. The youth camp is secluded from the family campground, and the cabins are nicely spaced among beautiful pines. The cabins are clean and have comfortable mattresses--some cabins have a bathroom. The shower house is not heated but never ran out of hot water! The water here tastes and smells good, it does not have a sulphur smell.

Beautiful trails, paddling and swimming in the park. Many deer and waterfowl.

Immersed in the Florida rivers, can party and enjoy nature all together!

There’s a wonderful river to canoe/kayak to see all sorts of animals and wildlife. It’s a wonderful adventure, I’ve seen deer and wild turkey on the shores as well as tutles, numerous birds and cranes, otters, and plenty of gators! (No worries, they are not aggressive, but do not approach wildlife without realizing their natural reaction will be to fight or flight). The camping is amazing and there are many options of site, cabins, tents, RV. There are also fun hiking trails and a gorgeous spring to cool off in the Florida heat. There’s a reason all of the locals love to go on the weekends!

The springs is perfect cold for the Florida heat

I like to camp out places where swimming is available. We camp a lot during the summer but since this is Florida it's HOT regularly and sizzling during the summer months. Although the spring is quite a walk, with floats in tow, driving is an option also and there is always lots of parking, and it goes in a curve so your never to far from accessing the springs no matter where you end up parking. Oh and they allow you to use a golf cart also. I'm not all that impressed with the sites, crushed shell, and you have to pitch the tent on it also, would be cooler if they let you pitch it a bit off site so your in the pine straw verse the crushed shell, which sucks to sleep on if you don't have a pad. This campground sees more rigs then tents and thankfully there is electric hook ups so you don't have to here any generators, bc you are close close by each other. Showers were decent if you got one with a shower head and having hot and cold adjustable is nice. We also took advantage of the clothes line they have on site as well as the second loop has a book exchange. LOVE THOSE! We saw tons of wildlife even just chilling at the campground. Turkey, deer, tortouse, friendly squirrels. Your in bear territory but there are no bear lockers which is nbd we are used to keeping our coolers in our trucks at night. Definitely will camp here again. Bring your kids, your floats, kayak, snorkle ... You can even bring your canapy to the water area with lawn chairs and your mini grill and just do the place for the day at the springs it self. They also have a horse coral and a BUNCH of hiking trails.

Springs are amazing!!

Really nice campground with all the amenities, showers, water, and power hookups for rv’s, or in my case to charge my phone and camera. We’re staying at the family campground as the primitive was full, so word of advice, book well in advance. Beautiful place love the springs!! Hoping to see some Florida native black bears fingers crossed...

beautiful

our site, 2, was a handicapped one, and beautiful. restrooms directly behind us. beautiful tall shady trees. A very clean park. being handicapped, the springs were a mile from the campground, which is a problem for people having difficulty walking. My husband pushed me there in the wheelchair. once we got there, Jane, one of the park rangers informed us about the ramp for wheelchairs, and a lift into the water! she was so helpful. she told us when we were ready to leave to lea e, go to the concession stand and they will radio her, that she would take me back to our site. we did, and she came. She asked Darwin to take me back since his vehicle was more comfortable for me. These two rangers were the best! They provided me a desperately needed accommodation! Thank you! We had an awesome time with our two grandchildren! The water was beautiful!

A quick get away

They have updated a few of the sites to have sewer hookups. The loop in the 50s offers a little more room per site. This park is in a convenient location in the Orlando area and makes for a great qick get away.

Slice of heaven ❤️

We loved tent camping at Wekiwa. It had a little bit of everything for us. We were lucky enough to get a spot on cancellation. The sites are decent. They are shadier in one area than another. Everyone was so nice and it was peaceful at night. We enjoyed the springs and have kayaked before. This time we made the trip over to Kelly/Rock springs to tube. There are quite a few trails to explore. We want to go back!

Great hiking and springs

Miles of great hiking trails and springs to cool off in after. The springs are a few miles from the campground but a short drive. The main spring area can get crowded on weekends. If you're bringing your own canoe or kayak it's a long walk downhill to the water from the parking lot.

Great Trails

I usually choose parks to camp at based on the trails available since it’s one of the few things dogs are allowed to do in state parks. The trails at wekiva are really nice, they’re mostly shaded and the trees are abundant. There’s much to look at and if you’re into tracking, or looking for animal tracks they are abundant here. My dog really enjoys the 5 mile loop. The campsites are well maintained, albeit they are sandy but you’re camping- so you knew what you were getting into! Haha. The showers and bathrooms are usually well maintained as well.

Solid.

The campgrounds are well kept and all the basic amenities are there. The bathrooms aren't too far from any site. The site we had checked all the boxes you'd expect. My only qualm is that the spring is a trek from the camping area.

Wekiva Springs State Park

The springs itself are beautiful. Blue waters everywhere, constantly 72 degrees. Has bathrooms. Caverns are beautiful under the water but it is constantly crowded around. Pets need to be put on a leash. Horses are permitted. Many opportunities for hiking, biking, swimming, and kayaking. I recently did a kayaking trip roughly 25 miles from wekiwa Springs to Lake Monroe. Dropping kayaks only costs 2 dollars and made it cheap to enjoy a wonderful trip.
