The Home Depot — Wilmington,DE

Tucked just off the main retail corridors near Concord Pike and I-95, this Home Depot in Wilmington offers a fairly straightforward overnight option with easy on and off access from major roads. The lot is large, paved (although admittedly worn with cracks just about everywhere), and somewhat well-maintained, although this place has definitely seen better days, with a mostly level surface that makes settling in for the night pretty hassle-free. RVs and trucks will do best parking along the far outer edges of the lot, particularly near the garden center side or along the perimeter in the front, where there is more room to stretch out and less traffic from late shoppers.

Immediate surroundings are about as convenient as it gets, with multiple gas stations, fast food spots and casual dining options like Wilmington Brew Works within a short drive, or even walking distance if you are up for it. Inside, the store is clean and well-lit during business hours, and the parking lot lighting carries through the night, which adds a sense of safety. There is some light vehicle movement early in the evening, but things taper off nicely, and overall the atmosphere feels secure without being overly busy or noisy. While we were there, 2 local coppers stopped by on a patrol and a state trooper parked in front of the store (see pics) for a few hours - adding to the sense of security.

Zooming out a bit, you are just a short drive from Brandywine Creek State Park, which offers a nice morning reset with walking trails, open green space, and even some fishing spots if you are traveling with gear. There are also plenty of grocery stores, coffee shops, and bigger retail centers nearby if you need to restock or recharge before getting back on the road. That said, trust me, this is not a destination stay, but rather just OK for a practical overnight stop with a touch of nearby nature, you'll find it checks more boxes than you might expect.
